Dopo il successo dell’Italia per l’organizzazione dell’Universiade della neve, nello scorso dicembre, nelle cittadine e nelle valli del Trentino, è giunto per noi il momento di puntare al bis, passando dalle piste alle acque, dagli sci al match-race. Apparentemente meno impegnativo ma che in realtà ha messo alla prova il nostro sistema con un numero di adesioni che ha superato ogni aspettativa. La scelta del Lago di Ledro, un piccolo gioiello a due passi dal Garda, rappresenta indubbiamente una bella sfida ma siamo convinti di poterla superare con l’aiuto della natura, sempre benigna in questo periodo e dei protagonisti, gli atleti universitari, che sapranno essere all’altezza della situazione coi loro scafi e con l’ardimento che li ha sostenuti nelle precedenti gare. Un ringraziamento speciale va a tutto lo staff dei volontari, che con grande entusiasmo si sono fin da subito messi a disposizione del Comitato Organizzatore: è grazie a loro che questo Mondiale sarà speciale. A tutti voi il cordiale saluto del CUS Trento e dell’Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro, i due club che lavorando in sinergia hanno reso possibile avere qui in Italia questo Mondiale Universitario. Assieme al Centro Universitario Sportivo Italiano che ha un nuovo Presidente, Lorenzo Lentini subentrato allo scomparso Leonardo Coiana che ricordiamo in questo momento con grande affetto e assieme alla FISU cercheremo di rendere il più possibile accogliente questo vostro soggiorno ed il turno di regate capaci sicuramente di creare l’indispensabile atmosfera di agonismo ma anche di fair-play.

After the successfully organized event of the Winter Universiade, which took place last December, it is now our turn, passing from the slopes to the water, from ski to match-race. Apparently it is a less demanding event but it really tests our organization with a number of participants who exceeded all expectations. The choice of Lake Ledro, which is a little jewel close to Lake Garda, is undoubtedly a big challenge, but we believe we are able to overcome it with the help of nature, which is always favourable in this period, and participants, who will keep up to the opportunity. A special thanks goes to all the staff of volunteers who with great enthusiasm immediately spent their time at the Organizing Committee: thanks to them this World University Championship will be special. CUS Trento and the Sailing Association Lake Ledro that are the two associations which are working together to make possible to have here in Italy this World University Championship are pleased to welcome all of you. CUS Trento together with the Sailing Association Lake Ledro, FISU and the Italian University Sports Centre, of which Lorenzo Lentini is the new President after the former President Lorenzo Coiana passed away and we will all remember him with affection, will do their best for the Championship that is the biggest moment of sport and fair-play.

Cari Amici, Vi trovate qua a Ledro, in Trentino, per assistere o partecipare alla settima edizione dei World University Match Race Championship. Questo evento è parte dello stupendo programma FISU assieme ad altri 24 Campionati mondiali Universitari del 2014, i quali due anni fa, nel 2012, hanno coinvolto ben 4.384 studenti universitari. I campionati mondiali universitari sono stati organizzati dal 1962 sotto l’egida della FISU in 53 stati di 5 continenti coinvolgendo oltre 59.000 partecipanti. Nel 2012, il numero di Campionati del Mondo organizzati ha superato il traguardo dei 300. Senza dubbio il traguardo dei 60.000 partecipanti verrà superato in questo 2014 che diverrà un anno storico per gli sport universitari. Quest’anno vedrà alcune prime edizioni per diverse nuove discipline. Va inoltre segnalato che quest’anno alcuni stati membri della FISU organizzeranno il loro primo evento. Dopo avere introdotto il basket 3vs3, netball e pattinaggio di velocità nel programma 2012, la FISU ha aggiunto nel programma dei Campionati Mondiali di quest’anno il Football Americano. Inoltre, dopo l’entrata di Cile ed Azerbaijan, il gruppo degli organizzatori eventi FISU dà il benvenuto a Bielorussia, Malaysia e Singapore che organizzeranno un evento FISU per la prima volta.

Dear friends, You are all here in Ledro – Trentino today to attend or participate in the 2014 7th World University Match Race Championship. This event is part of FISU’s wonderful programme featuring 24 World University Championships in 2014; back in 2012, these championships had gathered 4,384 student athletes. The World University Championships have been organised since 1962 under the auspices of FISU in 53 countries across the 5 continents, and they have gathered over 59,000 participants. In 2012, the number of World University Championships passed the 300 mark. There is no doubt that, in terms of number of participants, the 60,000 mark will be passed in 2014, making it a historic year for international university sport. This year is marked by first editions in new disciplines. It is also worth noting that some of our members will host FISU events for the first time this year. After including basketball 3 x 3, netball and speed skating into its programme in 2012, FISU has added American football to the World University Championships progamme this year. In addition, after Chile and Azerbaijan entered the widening circle of FISU event organisers, Belarus, Malaysia and Singapore will organise FISU events for the first time.

I Campionati Mondiali Universitari del 2014 rappresentano la 26esima edizione di queste competizione che si tengono ogni due anni, negli anni pari; in alternanza con le Universiadi invernali ed estive che si disputano negli anni dispari. I campionati offrono ad un elevato numero di studenti, professori e sportivi provenienti da realtà differenti un’occasione, in aggiunta alle Universiadi, dove incontrarsi e condividere le proprie esperienze e idee. Il successo dei campionati cresce continuamente con il passere delle edizioni. Ciò mostra come siano dinamici le federazioni nazionali componenti la FISU e molte altre si sono proposte per l’organizzazione di campionati. La FISU supporta in maniera attiva tali eventi e si sforza di soddisfare la creatività e le aspirazioni degli studenti, promuovendo regolarmente discipline sportive innovative. L’obiettivo è quello di mantenere lo spirito del gioco e incoraggiare lo sviluppo di una mente aperta e curiosa tra gli atleti universitari. Come eventi universitari, questi Campionati Mondiali Universitari mirano al più alto livello tecnico e di eccellenza, che sono requisiti fondamentali in università. In questo senso, la vostra presenza qui è già un segno di successo. The 2014 World University Championships represent the 26th edition of these competitions, which take place every two years in even-numbered years. They alternate with the Summer and Winter Universiades, which are organised in odd-numbered years. The championships provide a large number of students, teachers and sports leaders from various backgrounds with a place, in addition to the Universiades, to meet and share their experiences and ideas. The success of the championships has regularly increased over time. This shows how dynamic FISU member National University Sports Federations are more and more of them have put themselves forward for the organisation of a championship. FISU actively supports those events and endeavors to satisfy students’ creativity and aspirations by regularly promoting innovative sports disciplines. The aim is to retain the spirit of play and encourage the development of an open and curious mind among university athletes. As university events, these World University Championships aim at the highest technical level and Excellence, which are basic requirements in university. In this sense, your presence here is already a sign of success. The International University Sports Federation, the National University Sports Federation of Italy and all the organisers wish to thank you for participating and hope that you will be warmly welcome here and find favorable conditions for the best practice of your sport. È ancora viva in noi l’emozione dello scorso inverno, con la splendida avventura dell’Universiade, nella quale il Trentino ha dato prova di capacità e di maturità organizzativa, da tutti riconosciute. Adesso, pochi mesi dopo, un nuovo appuntamento vede il nostro territorio protagonista. Dalle nevi delle nostre montagne si passa all’acqua dei nostri laghi. La valle di Ledro, e il suo lago di intangibile bellezza, sono infatti chiamati all’organizzazione della settima edizione della World University Match Racing Championship. Per una settimana i migliori velisti del mondo universitario si daranno leale battaglia su uno specchio d’acqua incastonato in una valle di grande bellezza e suggestione. Su un “terreno” di gara che alle regate è vocato da tempo, se solo si pensa che il primo appuntamento agonistico risale al lontano 1927. Sono certo che la capacità organizzativa dei trentini, che trova nel volontariato uno dei modi più genuini e condivisi di esprimersi, saprà essere all’altezza del compito richiesto. Per questo, a nome di tutti i trentini, voglio far giungere il mio saluto e il mio “buon vento” a tutti coloro che renderanno indimenticabile questi giorni dedicati ad una disciplina dal fascino antico, dal rito immutato, pur nella capacità di rinnovarsi continuamente nell’essere al passo con i progressi tecnologici che anche in questo sport sono all’ordine del giorno.

It is still alive in us the emotion of last winter, with the wonderful adventure of the Universiade, in which the Trentino has proven capability and organizational maturity, recognized by all. Now, a few months later, a new appointment sees our protagonist territory. From the snows of our mountains you pass the water of our lakes. The Ledro Valley, its lake and intangible beauty, are in fact called to the organization of the seventh edition of the World University Match Racing Championship. For a week the best sailors in the world university will give you fair battle on a body of water nestled in a valley of great beauty and charm. On a “ground” of the race that is suited to racing for a long time, only if you think that the first competitive event dates back to 1927.’m Sure that the organizational capacity of the Trentino, which is voluntary in one of the most genuine and shared expression, will be up to the task required. For this, all in the name of the Trentini, I want to extend my greetings and my “good wind” to all those who make these unforgettable days devoted to a discipline from the old world charm, the rite unchanged, despite the ability to renew itself continually in ‘to keep pace with the technological advances that also in this sport are the order of the day

Cari studenti, cari atleti, È con piacere che vi dò il benvenuto in Trentino per questi Campionati mondiali da parte della nostra Università e anche da parte dei tanti studenti che, come voi, amano lo sport e sono impegnati nello studio universitario. Proprio questo legame – sport e studio – è uno degli aspetti che ci sta a cuore, qui all’Università di Trento. Chi pratica sport al vostro livello sa quanto sia importante, per ottenere risultati, un allenamento costante, la disciplina, una competizione sana e corretta, la capacità di lavorare in gruppo e la leadership. Sono valori che ritroviamo anche nello studio e nell’impegno all’università e che contribuiscono, in chi li possiede, a costruire quelle doti trasversali che rendono un curriculum ricco, completo e appetibile anche nel modo del lavoro. I wish to greet you also on behalf of the numerous students who, like you, love sports and are also engaged in their university studies. And precisely this bond, between sports and studies, is one of our most important concerns, here at the University of Trento. Sports lovers who practice sports at your level are aware of the importance of a constant training, discipline, fair competition, and the capacity to work in a team, and finally the crucial role of leadership, if you reach for good results. These are fundamental values also when studying and doing your best at University. They contribute in the construction of cross-sector skills which enhance your curriculum, making it rich, complete and attractive for your future employers. Con gioia il Comune di Ledro accoglie i giovani sportivi che saranno impegnati nel grande evento del Campionato Mondiale Universitario di Match Race. Un momento di grande sport oltre che di incontro tra tante nazioni del mondo che arriveranno a Ledro per solcare le acque del lago durante i momenti di gara ma anche per poter gustare un territorio tutto da scoprire. La Valle di Ledro, legata da oltre 4000 anni all’acqua e al suo lago, per la presenza del sito palafitticolo che è oggi Patrimonio dell’Umanità dell’UNESCO, ha il suo cuore proprio fra quelle onde che gli altleti solcheranno in giornate che diventeranno sicuramente indimenticabili anche per la famigliarità con cui questi giovani sportivi universitari verranno accolti nella nostra terra. Sport, eventi culturali e di socialità e tanta natura incontaminata saranno i compagni di viaggio delle ventisette squadre. La Valle di Ledro sarà dunque vetrina mondiale di uno sport, quello della vela, che ha già regalato grandi soddisfazioni al nostro territorio. Diverse edizioni europee e mondiali dedicate a categorie diverse, con particolare attenzione ai giovani, sono il frutto dell’instancabile lavoro di un’associazione, l’Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro. Un gruppo di appassionati volontari che crede nella diffusione dello sport quale strumento per la socialità, per l’educazione e per lo sviluppo turistico. Sono questi alcuni degli ingredienti di questo appuntamento per il quale rombano i motori e che porterà grandi soddisfazioni per tutti. Assessore allo Sport Comune di Ledro
The municipality of Ledro is pleased to welcome all the young athletes who will compete at this great event, the World University Championship. A moment of great sport , but also the opportunity of meeting different nations of the whole world and discovering a new beautiful region. Ledro Valley, bound for over 4000 years to its lake and water thanks to the pile-dwelling site, now UNESCO World Heritage Site, has its own heart among those waves, that will be ploughed by the athletes during days that will certainly become unforgettable for the warm welcome typical in our territory. Sport, cultural and social events, and wildlife will be companions of these 27 teams. Ledro will be a showcase for the sailing sport, which has already given great satisfaction to our valley. Several editions of europen and world regattas with particoular attention to young people are the result of the hard work of the Lake Ledro Sailing Association, a group of dedicated volunteers who believe in the sport as a tool for the development of education, socialization, and tourism. These are some ingredients of this event, that will certainly bring great enthusiasm and satisfaction for everyone.

La Vela è uno di quegli sport che si possono praticare a tute le età: dai ragazzini agli anziani, tutti possono andare in barca. E’ uno sport per solitari (secondo il clichè del “lupo di mare”), ma anche uno sport di squadra con ruoli definiti e complementari tra loro. La Vela è poi sicuramente uno sport a stretto contatto con il paesaggio e l’ambiente in cui si svolge. Tutto questo fa della Vela uno sport che rafforza valori sociali importanti e che non può prescindere dalla cura dell’ambiente. Se poi riusciamo a coniugare lo sport della vela sui nostri laghi, splendidi specchi cristallini, con la bellezza delle nostre vette alpine, il mix che ne viene fuori è di straordinaria bellezza ed estremo fascino. Tutto questo, per nostra fortuna lo ritroviamo in Val di Ledro, dove la vela non viene considerato uno sport minore, ma anzi convive con gli altri sport dell’outdoor che a Ledro trovano un ambiente molto molto accogliente. Letto in questi termini, diventa lo sport che meglio incarna i principi che anche la Comunità Alto Garda e Ledro cerca di perseguire: valorizzare il senso di comunità rafforzando il tessuto sociale del nostro territorio e valorizzare il patrimonio naturalistico della nostra zona. Su questo la Comunità Alto Garda e Ledro non può che investire risorse ed impegno per raggiungere obiettivi importanti volti a garantire lo sviluppo economico del territorio preservando le bellezze naturali dello stesso. Investire sulla Vela coniuga perfettamente questi presupposti e la Comunità di Valle sta facendo e farà di tutto per continuare a garantire all’Alto Garda e anche alla Valle di Ledro, attraverso la fruttuosa partnership con l’Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro, il necessario sviluppo nell’ambito velico sia per quanto riguarda il settore legato al turismo che per quanto riguarda il settore agonistico.

Assessore allo sport Comunità Alto garda e Ledro
Sailing is one of those sports that you can practice in suits ages: from children to the elderly, everyone can go by boat. It ‘a sport for loners (according to the cliché of the “wolf of the sea”), but also a team sport with defined roles and complement each other. Sailing is a sport then surely closely with the landscape and the environment in which it takes place. All this makes the Sailing a sport that strengthens social values and that can not be separated from the care of the environment. If then we can combine the sport of sailing on our lakes, beautiful mirrors crystalline, with the beauty of our mountain peaks, the mix that comes out is of extraordinary beauty and extreme charm. All this, fortunately for us we find him in the Ledro Valley, where the sail is not considered a minor sport, but rather coexists with others of outdoor sports that Ledro find a warm and welcoming atmosphere. In these terms, it becomes the sport that best embodies the principles that the Community Alto Garda Lake seeks to achieve: to enhance the sense of community by strengthening the social fabric of our country and enhance the natural heritage of our area. On this the Alto Garda Lake Community can not invest resources and efforts to achieve important goals to ensure the economic development of the area while preserving the natural beauty of the same. Investing in sailing perfectly combines these assumptions and the Community of Valle is doing and will do everything to continue to ensure the Alto Garda and also the Ledro Valley, through the fruitful partnership with the Association of Sail Lake Ledro, the necessary development in sail scope both as regards the sector related to tourism that as regards the competitive sector.

Dopo dieci anni, torna in Italia il Mondiale di Match Racing, competizione che nella bellissima edizione organizzata dal CUS Bologna a Rimini vide in gara nel 2004 nove nazioni con dodici equipaggi. Ora quella del CUS Trento ospiti dell’Associazione Vela Lago Ledro sullo splendido specchio d’acqua a due passi dal Lago di Garda, gli aspiranti alle medaglie sono così tanti che è stato necessario chiudere le iscrizioni prima dei tempi previsti. Questo significa da un lato lo sviluppo e la passione per questa difficile ma splendida disciplina, dall’altro che le competizioni sul suolo italiano con la denominazione del CUSI hanno un grosso richiamo. A Rimini ci fu mare anche mosso con vento costante al punto che vennero registrati numerosi match, ben 167; sul Lago Ledro il vento sarà forse meno intenso ma le limpide acque permetteranno agli equipaggi di sbizzarrirsi nei loro accostamenti. Agonismo sicuramente, ma con lo stile che contraddistingue gli sport della vela, ma anche l’occasione per fare un tuffo nel passato considerato che la zona è diventata famosa per i ritrovamenti archeologici, ovvero un’area di palafitte risalenti al bronzo antico-medio datate 220-1.350 A.C. il più antico in Europa al punto da essere inserito nel patrimonio dell’Unesco. Per gli Amici del CUS Trento, capeggiati dall’infaticabile presidente Gianluca Tasin, dopo l’esaltante esperienza dell’Universiade trentina di cui si stanno concretizzando in questi giorni i numeri di un bilancio record, è l’occasione per organizzare nel modo giusto, diciamo indimenticabile, il primo dei tre Mondiali assegnati al CUSI e all’Italia. Nel 2016 ci saranno quelli di Cassino (Cross Country) e Baselga di Pinè (Speed Skating) ideali quest’ultimi per ricordare gli ori conquistati sulla splendida pista trentina. Tuffiamoci per ora nel Lago di Ledro per vivere da vicino le gare di Match Racing sicuri che i nostri equipaggi saranno all’altezza della situazione così come il commutato organizzatore composto da CUS Trento e AVLL.

The World University Championship of Match Racing comes back to Italy ten years after the 2004 amazing edition organized by the CUS Bologna in Rimini with 9 nations and 12 teams. Now, in this edition of CUS Trento in collaboration with Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro, the number of the participants is so high that it was necessary to close the registrations before the scheduled deadline. This means on one side the development and passion for this difficult but wonderful discipline, on the other side it means that the competitions organized by CUSI in Italy have a major recall. It was so windy in Rimini this led to the conclusion of 167 matches, however in Ledro it will be not so windy but it will absolutely be a spectacular event. Ledro is not just sailing but it also has a long history according to the archaeological discoveries of the stilt-houses of 220-1,350 B.C. which is the most ancient period of the UNESCO world heritage sites. After the exciting experience of the Winter Universiade Trentino 2014 it is now the opportunity for our Friends of the CUS Trento, whose President is Gianluca Tasin, to organize in a unique way the first of three WUC that FISU assigned to Italy and to CUSI. In the 2016 will take place the WUC Cross Country (Cassino) and WUC Speed Skating (Baselga di Pinè). Let’s join the regattas of Match Racing with the certainty that our crews will keep up with the situation as well the organizing committee composed of CUS Trento and AVLL.

Sono felice di porgere un affettuoso saluto a tutti gli amici dell’Associazione vela del Lago di Ledro che si apprestano, a breve, ad ospitare in trentino un evento velico particolarmente significativo per il profilo dei suoi partecipanti: il world University Championship Mach Racing 2014. Sono certo che saprete, ancora una volta, accogliere questa manifestazione con la consueta passione, entusiasmo e capacità organizzativa. I primi “World Student Games” sono stati organizzati a Parigi nel 1923. Questa data è considerata la nascita della FISU, la quale si è però ufficialmente costituita successivamente, nel 1949. Precedentemente, nel 1924 fu fondata la Confederazione Internazionale degli Studenti (ICS) che tenne un congresso a Varsavia, in Polonia. Tra il 1925 ed il 1939 furono molti gli eventi sportivi organizzati dagli studenti e dall’ICS. Gli World University Games furono interrotti durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale ma, una volta ripristinata la pace, la Francia diede seguito agli stessi. Nel 1949 la International University Sports Federation (FISU) fu ufficialmente fondata e furono organizzate le prime University Sports Weeks a Merano, in Italia. I Campionati Mondiali Universitari (WUC) fanno parte degli eventi sportivi organizzati dell’International University Sports Federation. In alternanza con le Universiadi invernali ed estive, i campionati mondiali universitari vengono assegnati negli anni pari. La diffusione dello sport universitario nel mondo ha creato una nuova occasione di incontri e competizioni tra gli studenti di tutto il mondo. Il Centro Universitario Sportivo Italiano (CUSI) ha creato il logo per le Universiadi del 1959, con una “U” circondata da stelle, e ha sostituito gli inni nazionali durante le cerimonie di premiazione con il Gaudeamus Igitur, ora inno ufficiale della FISU. La prima edizione World University Match Racing Championship è stata organizzata nella penisola di Quiberon - Francia nel 2002, da allora il Campionato si è svolto regolarmente ogni due anni. Dalla sua quinta edizione organizzata in Gazy (GRE) nel 2010, i campionati vedono la partecipazione sia di team maschili che femminili. A Ledro ci sono più di 130 tra velisti ed allenatori: questo è il World University Match Racing Championship con il più alto numero di atleti e squadre partecipenti.

The first ‘ World Student Games’ were organized in Paris in 1923 . This is the origin of the FISU, but it was officially formed in 1949. In 1924 was funded the International Confederation of Students (ICS) and it held a congress in Warsaw- Poland. Many sporting events were organized by the students and the ICS from 1925 to 1939. During the Second World War the World University Games was interrupted, but when peace was restored, France re-launched the World University Games. In 1949 the International University Sports Federation (FISU) was officially founded and organized its first International University Sports Weeks in Meran - Italy . The World University Championships (WUC) are part of the sporting events of the International University Sports Federation. Alternating with the Summer and Winter Universiades, they are organised every evennumbered year. The spreading of the university sport in the world created a new series of meetings and competitions between the students around the world. The Italian University Sports Center (CUSI) created the emblem for the 1959 World University Games, with a “U” surrounded by stars, and replaced the national anthems at the medal-awarding ceremonies by the Gaudeamus Igitur. The first edition World University Match Racing Championship was organised in the Presqu’île of Quiberon – France in the 2002. From that event the World Championship is organized every two years. Since its 5th edition organised in Gazy (GRE) in 2010, the competition has included both a men’s and a women’s competition. In Ledro we are more as 130 sailors: this is the World University Match Racing Championship with highest number of athletes and teams participants.

Il Trentino si trova nel nord Italia ed è, insieme con l’Alto Adige, una delle due province che compongono la regione del Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, che è riconosciuta come regione autonoma. La provincia è suddivisa in 217 Comuni e copre una superficie di 6.207 kmq, con una popolazione totale di 530.000 abitanti. Il Trentino è rinomato per le sue montagne, in particolare per le Dolomiti, che nel mese di agosto 2009 sono state dichiarate Patrimonio dell’Umanità dell’UNESCO e fanno parte della catena della Alpi. Oltre a queste montagne spettacolari, il Trentino offre laghi e bellezze naturali uniche. Il Lago di Garda è il lago più famoso del Trentino, nochè il maggior lago di Italia. Tuttavia, tutti i laghi della regione sono unici e speciali per la natura incantevole che li circonda. La maggior parte dei laghi del Trentino sono laghi glaciali e molti di loro hanno anche siti archeologici. Ad esempio, i resti di un villaggio dell’età del bronzo sono stati trovati sulle rive del lago di Ledro. Il Trentino, inoltre, conta su diverse aree protette più piccole e numerosi biotopi. Il suo capoluogo è la città di Trento, storicamente conosciuta per il Concilio di Trento, svoltosi in tre grandi sessioni dal 1545 al 1563 nel bellissimo Duomo della Città. Dopo le guerre napoleoniche del XIX secolo, il vescovato fu secolarizzato e assorbito nella Contea austriaca del Tirolo. E‘ stato governato dalla Casa d’Asburgo-Lorena all’interno dell’Impero Asburgico fino a dopo la fine della Prima Guerra Mondiale nel 1918. Ogni anno circa 5 milioni di turisti provenienti da 40 paesi scelgono il Trentino come meta per trascorrere le loro vacanze in cerca di divertimento e relax, nonché, per la cultura e lo sport, l’ottimo vino e cibo. Il Trentino è per lo sport una palestra all’aperto. Qui gli atleti trovano un terreno per coltivare la loro passione in tutte le stagioni dell’anno. Sia che pratichino sport di squadra o sport individuali, il Trentino può offrire loro un ambiente incontaminato, in un paesaggio naturale con un clima montano fresco e temperato. d’Italia secondo la valutazione elaborata dal Gruppo editoriale Clas per il giornale finanziario “il Sole 24” che ha pubblicato una sua indagine in merito, il 15 agosto 2011. Gli sports più popolari sono quelli invernali e gli sport di montagna (44,4 %), seguiti da ciclismo (25,3 %) e dagli sport d’acqua (20,20 %). L’Università di Trento, fondata nel 1962, può vantare uno dei più alti livelli in Italia di internazionalizzazione. E’ composta da 10 dipartimenti e 3 centri di ricerca, con 25 corsi di laurea triennale e 29 corsi di laurea magistrale o a ciclo unico e 4 master. Sono 16.331 gli studenti iscritti nell’anno accademico 2013 -2014. Negli anni passati è stato giudicato più volte come il migliore ateneo d’Italia tra quelli di medie dimensioni.

Trentino is located in north Italy and it is, along with South Tyrol, one of the two provinces which make up the region of Trentino-Alto Adige/ Sßdtirol, which is designated an autonomous region. The province is divided into 217 comuni (municipalities). The province covers an area of 6207 kmq (2,300 sq mi), with a total population of 530,000 inhabitants. Trentino is renowned for its mountains, particularly for the Dolomites, they in August 2009 were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are part of the Alps. Other these spectacular mountains Trentino offers the lakes and unique natural beauties. Lake Garda is the most famous lake in Trentino. However, all of the region’s lakes are unique and special, for the enchanting nature that surrounds them. Most of the lakes in Trentino are glacial lakes and several of them also have archaeological sites. For example, the remains of a Bronze Age village lake-dwelling have been on the beach of the Lake Ledro. Trentino counts on several smaller protected areas and biotopes. Its capital is the town of Trento, historically know for the Council of Trent, held in three major sessions from 1545 to 1563 in the beautiful Dom of the city. After the Napoleonic Wars of the early nineteenth century, the bishopric was secularised and absorbed into the Austrian County of Tyrol. It was ruled by the House of Habsburg-Lorraine in the Emperor of Augsburg and remained a part of Austria until after the end of the First World war in 1918. Each year about 5 million tourist from 40 countries choose Trentino as destination to spend their holidays looking for fun and relaxation, as well as, for culture and sport, excellent wine and food. Ledro (in dialetto locale : Leder) è un comune Trentino. E ‘stato creato il 1 gennaio 2010 dall’unione tra i comuni di Pieve di Ledro, Bezzecca, Concei, Molina di Ledro, Tiarno di Sopra e Tiarno di Sotto. Ha una popolazione di 5.455 abitanti (dato ISTAT al 01/01/2013) ed una superficie di 156,39 km². Circondato da boschi e pascoli, il Lago di Ledro vanta le acque verdi e azzurre di un lago alpino. Creato da una diga morenica, il lago si trova a 560 m slm. Ledro è situato a metà strada tra il clima mediterraneo del Lago di Garda e l’ambiente alpino del lago d’Idro. La vegetazione è molto varia e va dai lecci alla stella alpina e noccioli, e comprende pini silvestri, abeti bianchi e rossi, felci, frutti di bosco e funghi. Il lago è molto apprezzato dai turisti, che amano trascorrere le loro vacanze lungo le sue rive e rilassarsi negli alloggi turistici dalla zona. Ledro vanta una storia molto antica, i pali di legno trovati nel Lago provano

una forte presenza umana nella valle fin dal tardo Neolitico Età del Rame. Questi sono stati scoperti nell’autunno del 1929, quando il livello del lago fu abbassato per l’opera di presa della centrale idroelettrica in costruzione a Riva del Garda. Emersero oltre 10.000 pali, certificando uno dei più grandi siti preistorici scoperti fino ad allora in Italia e uno delle testimonianze più importanti d’Europa. Il sito è stato dichiarato patrimonio dell’UNESCO. Il 21 luglio 1866 a Bezzecca si svolse la celebre battaglia tra Austriaci ed esercito dei garibaldini. Garibaldi rispose al generale Alfonso La Marmora con il famoso telegramma : “ Ho ricevuto il telegramma 1073. Obbedisco...” Appartenente all’Impero austro-ungarico, il territorio della valle nel maggio 1915 vide l’evacuazione della popolazione che fu trasferita in alcuni campi situati in Boemia/Moravia (Repubblica Ceca) ed in Austria. La valle era ormai diventata una zona di guerra. Ledro era collegata con la Valle del Chiese attraverso la gola scavata nella roccia dal fiume Palvico e con Riva del Garda ed Arco attraverso la strada Ponale realizzata da Giacomo Cis nel 1851. Dal 1988 è raggiungibile per mezzo di due gallerie.

Ledro (in local dialect: Léder) is an Italian municipality in Trentino. It was created on January 1, 2010 by the union of the municipality of Pieve di Ledro, Bezzecca, Concei, Molina di Ledro, Tiarno di Sopra and Tiarno di Sotto. It have a population of 5.455 inhabitants (ISTAT, 2013) and area of 156,39 km². Surrounded by forests and pastures, Lake Ledro boasts the green and light-blue waters of an Alpine lake. Created from a moranial dike, the Lake is located at 560 m a.s.l.. Ledro is situated halfway between Lake Garda’s Mediterranean climate and Lake Idro’s Alpine environment. The vegetation is very varied and ranges from holm oaks to edelweiss and hazelnut trees, and includes scotch pines, silver firs, ferns, wild berries and mushrooms. The lake is highly appreciated by tourists, who enjoy spending their holidays bathing along its banks and relaxing in the tourist accommodation offered by the area.

The Lake boasts a very ancient history. The piles of Lake Ledro evidence of a strong human presence in the valley as early as the late Neolithic Copper Age. These were discovered in the fall of 1929, when the lake level was lowered for the work of taking the hydroelectric power plant under construction in Riva del Garda. Emerged over 10,000 poles, certifying one of the largest prehistoric sites discovered so far in Italy and one of the most important witnesses in Europe. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On 21 July 1866 Bezzecca took place the famous battle between Austrian army and Italian patriots garibaldini. Garibaldi replied to General Alfonso La Marmora with the famous telegram: “I received the telegram no. 1073. Obey”. Belonging to the Austro -Hungarian Empire, the territory of the valley in May 1915 underwent the evacuation of the population moved in some camps located in Bohemia/Moravia (Czech Republic) and in Austria. The valley became a war zone. The valley is connected with the Valley of Chiese through the gorge carved into the rock by the river Palvico and with Riva del Garda and Arco through the cut by Ponale made by Giacomo Cis in the 1851. In occasione del Mondiale Universitario di Match race, l’AVLL ha deciso di organizzare la sistemazione degli atleti in appartamento. Ogni team avrà un appartamento; tutti gli appartamenti sono confinanti in modo da creare un vero e proprio villaggio. La struttura si trova a 200mt dal circolo velico, il quale è raggiungibile a piedi o in bici percorrendo una strada poco trafficata. Per la coalzione e la cena, tutti gli atleti saranno ospitati presso l’Hotel Franco & Adriana, ubicato a metà strada tra il villaggio e il club. Gli ufficiali di reagata, i giudici, i Tecnici e i delegati FISU saranno ospitati presso alcuni hotel a tre stelle nelle vicinanze.
For the FISU event AVLL has planned to organize athletes’ accommodation in apartment. Each team will have an apartment; all the apartmenst are close each other to form a real athletes’ village. The buildings are located 200 mt. from the club house, reachable on a pedestrian/biking road with no heavy traffic. For breakfast and dinner all sailors together will be hosted in the Franco & Adriana hotel, located very close to both the athletes’ village and the AVLL clubhouse. Race Officers, Judges, Technical Specialists and FISU Representatives will be hosted in three-star hotels nearby.

Il Consorzio per il Turismo di Ledro organizza escursioni guidate alla scoperta della Valle di Ledro. Inoltre c’è una mappa dettagliata con i sentieri segnati di Ledro. NB: Si prega di indossare sempre scarpe e vestiti adatti e portare con voi un pranzo al sacco per le escursioni giornaliere. La registrazione è necessaria entro un giorno prima presso l’Ufficio Informazioni Turistiche. Martedì 1 luglio - ATTRAVERSO LA VAL CONCEI Ritrovo: davanti alla chiesa di Lenzumo, alle 14:00. Durata: 3 ore. Dislivello: fino a 150 m. La passeggiata tra i boschi della Val Concei e le rocce di Poli, un punto interessante sopra Lenzumo, dove possiamo osservare un ambiente incontaminato, create dall’erosione delle pietre di calcare. Sulla via del ritorno ci fermiamo a visitare la fattoria Segalla Fabio. Mercoledì il 2 luglio - SULLA CIMA DEL MONTE CARONE Ritrovo: davanti alla chiesa di Prè, alle 8:30. Durata: 7 ore. Dislivello: da 1100 m. Da Prè prendiamo per un pezzo la strada, che conduce a Leano. All’incrocio continuiamo a prati di Cadrione fino alla strada forestale a Bocca dei Fortini. Ora l’itinerario, lungo il fronte militare italiano durante la prima guerra mondiale, offre una splendida vista sul Lago di Garda. Dopo Baita Segala prendiamo il sentiero per il Monte Carone, da dove si può ammirare anche il Lago di Ledro. Scendendo a Leano e, dopo aver attraversato il paese silenzioso, torniamo attraverso una strada ripida al punto di partenza. Venerdì 5 luglio – LA VIA SANTA E DELLE SPEZIE Ritrovo: al parcheggio di Via Don Lucillo Sartori a Molina, alle 15:00. Durata: 3 ore circa. Dislivello: ascesa 250 m; discesa 250 m. Attraverso il centro del paese si raggiunge Barcesino e proseguiamo sulla Via Crucis, che si conclude con 74 punti, alla Chiesa di Nostra Signora dei Dolori, detta anche “Madonna delle grucce“, perché le persone, che avevano malattie gambe, invocavano questa Madonna. Camminiamo fino alla strada forestale, e sulla via del ritorno ci fermiamo in un campo di erbe officinali.

The Tourist Board organizes guided hiking tours to discover Valle di Ledro. Otherwise there is a detailed map with the signed hiking trails of Ledro. NB: Please wear always suitable shoes and clothes and bring with you a packed lunch by the daily hikes. Registration is required within one day before by the Tourist Information Office. Tuesday July, 1st – THROUGH VAL CONCEI Meeting point: in front of the church in Lenzumo, at 2:00 p.m. Lasting time: 3 hours. Difference in level: up 150 m; down 150 m. The walk leeds us through the woods of Val concei to the rocks of Polì, an interesting spot above Lenzumo, where we can observe an unpolluted environment, created by the erosion of the lime stones. On the way back we stop to visit the Farm Segalla Fabio. Wednesday July, 2nd – TO THE TOP OF MONTE CARONE Meeting point: in front of the church of Prè, at 8:30 a.m. Lasting time: 7 hours. Difference in level: up 1100 m; down 1100 m. From Prè we take a little road, which leads to Leano. At the crossing we continue to the meadows of Cadrione till the forest road to Bocca dei Fortini. Now the itinerary, along the Italian military front during the WWI, offers wonderful views over Lake Garda. After Baita Segala we take the path to Monte Carone from where we can admire also Lake Ledro. You come down to Leano and, after crossing the silent village, we come back on a steep road to the starting point. Friday, July 5th – HOLY AND SPICY WAY Meeting point: at the parking space of Via Don Lucillo Sartori in Molina, at 3:00 p.m. Lasting time: about 3 hours. Difference in level: up 250 m; down 250 m. Through the village centre we reach Barcesino and continue on the Way of the Cross, which ends with 74 steps, to the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, called also “Madonna of the Crutches” because people, who had leg diseases, invoked this Madonna. We walk up to the forestry road, and on the way back we stop by a field of herbs.

MTB A Pieve di Ledro presso il Camping al Lago (vicino al Circolo velico) e presso il distributore di benzina IP (sulla strada principale) è possibile noleggiare una citybike o mtb. Anche a Molina di Ledro, al Camping al Sole c’è un noleggio bici. Bike Express organizza anche visite guidate in MTB (www.bikexpress.net). In Valle di Ledro ci sono più di 200 km di tour MTB segnati: Tremalzo è un must per i biker! È anche possibile raggiungere in bicicletta Riva lungo la vecchia strada del Ponale, con splendida vista sul Lago di Garda o lungo la Valle di Ledro al Lago d’Ampola e Rifugio al Faggio. È possibile scaricare le tracce gps dal sito www.vallediledro.com/map. Una mappa MTB è inoltre disponibile.
CANYONING Il Canyoning è un nuovo sport che consiste nella discesa di cascate e gole: un full immersion nella natura più nascosta. Nella valle di Ledro ci sono due torrenti, dove è possibile praticare il Canyoning ed entrambi sono nella valle d’Ampola: il torrente Palvico e torrente Rio Nero. MTB In Pieve di Ledro by the Camping al Lago (close to the Sailing Club) and by the petrol station IP (on the main road) you can rent a city or mtb. Also in Molina di Ledro, by the Camping al Sole there is a Bike Rental. Bike Express organizes also guided MTB tours (www.bikexpress.net). In Valle di Ledro there are more than 200 km of signed MTB tours: Tremalzo is a must for bikers! You can also bike to Riva along the old Ponale Road, with wonderful view over Lake Garda or along Valle di Ledro to Lake Ampola and Rifugio al Faggio. You can download the gps tracks from the website www.vallediledro.com/ map. A MTB map is also available.
CANYONING Canyoning is a new sport which consists in the descent of waterfalls and gorges: a full immersion in the most hidden nature. In the Ledro valley there are two torrents, where you can do it and both are in the Ampola valley: Torrent Palvico and Torrent Rio Nero. VELA Se si desidera navigare a vela sul Lago di Ledro è possibile noleggiare una barca a Mezzolago (1,5 Km da Pieve) presso Ledro Boats. In alternativa, è possibile noleggiare un pedalò (a Pieve, Mezzolago e Molina), windsurf (Pieve) o canoe (in Molina). Presso l’ufficio di informazioni turistiche si possono acquistare permessi di pesca.
BEACH VOLLEY Nelle spiagge di Pieve di Ledro e Molina sono presenti dei campi da beach volley, dove si può giocare gratuitamente. A Pieve si può giocare anche la sera.
MINI GOLF A Pieve, vicino alla spiaggia, c’è la possibilità di giocare a mini golf .
TENNIS In ogni paese ci sono campi da tennis, con diverso terreno di gioco. A Pieve si possono trovare due campi di loro vicino al bar Nido Verde, sulla strada principale.

WATER SPORTS If you want to keep sailing on Lake Ledro you can rent a boat in Mezzolago (1,5 Km from Pieve) by Ledro Boats. Otherwise you can rent pedaloes (in Pieve, Mezzolago and Molina), windsurfs (in Pieve) and canoes (in Molina). By the tourist information office you can buy fishing permits.
BEACH VOLLEY By the beaches of Pieve di Ledro and Molina you can find a beach volley court, where you can play for free. In Pieve you can play also in the evening.
MINI PUTT In Pieve, close to the beach, there is the possibility to play mini putt.
TENNIS In each village there are tennis courts, with different playing ground. In Pieve you can find 2 of them close to the Bar Nido Verde, on the main road.

MUSEO DELLE PALAFITTE
E’ presente un insediamento palafitticolo sulla riva del lago di Ledro a Molina di Ledro risalente all’età del bronzo, che è stato incluso nella World Heritage List dell’UNESCO. Il museo offre visite guidate, laboratori creativi e altre attività volte a scoprire come i nostri antenati preistorici vivevano. Su richiesta è possibile organizzare una visita guidata in lingua inglese.
GARIBALDI
Terza Guerra d’Indipendenza e la Prima Guerra mondiale, due eventi devastanti che hanno lasciato segni visibili in Valle di Ledro, a causa della sua posizione geografica, al confine tra l’Italia e l’Impero asburgico in quel momento. Nel piccolo museo nel centro di Bezzecca e Colle di S. Stefano è possibile osservare più da vicino la storia dell’irredentismo italiano.
FARMACEUTICO FOLETTO
Un piccolo museo a Pieve di Ledro, dove si trovano in esposizione attrezzature professionali, come pestelli, mortai, strumenti di laboratorio e altri strumenti tecnici appartenenti alla famiglia Foletto, farmacisti in Valle di Ledro per più di un secolo. Oggi, il Laboratorio Foletto continua a produrre i loro sciroppi di frutti tipici, liquori e il famoso Picco Rosso.
LAGO D’AMPOLA
L’ambiente naturale del lago di Ampola, un’area protetta nella parte occidentale della valle, è molto importante per la sua vasta gamma di fauna e vegetazione acquatica. Una passerella, appena sopra il livello dell’acqua, permette ai visitatori di ammirare la ricca vegetazione e uccelli acquatici e li porta al centro visitatori dove possono scoprire ulteriormente questa affascinante riserva naturale. È possibile raggiungere il Lago d’Ampola in bicicletta lungo la pista ciclabile partendo da Pieve di Ledro.

PILE DWELLING MUSEUM
A pile-dwelling settlement on the shore of Lake Ledro in Molina di Ledro dating back to the Bronze Age, that has been included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. A Museum that offers guided tours, creative laboratories and other activities aimed at discovering how our prehistoric ancestors lived. On request it is possible to organize a guided visit in English.
GARIBALDI MUSEUM
Third War of Independence and First World War, two devastating events that left visible signs in Valle di Ledro, because of its geographical location on the border between Italy and the Hapsburg Empire at that time. In the small Museum in the center of Bezzecca and on the S. Stefano Hill it is possible to get a closer look at the history of the Italian union.
PHARMACY LAB FOLETTO
A small museum in Pieve di Ledro, where you find on display professional equipment such as pestles, mortars, laboratory instruments and other technical devises belonging to the Foletto family, pharmacists in Valle di Ledro for more than a century. Today, the Foletto Laboratory continues to produce their typical fruit syrups and liquors and the famous Picco Rosso.
LAKE AMPOLA
The natural environment of Lake Ampola, a protected area in the western part of the valley, is very important because of its wide range of wildlife and aquatic vegetation. A boardwalk, just a bit above water level, allows visitors to admire the rich vegetation and water fowl and leads them to the visitors’ center where they can further discover this fascinating nature reserve. You can reach Lake Ampola by bike along the cycle path starting from Pieve di Ledro.

RIVA DEL GARDA
Riva del Garda dista 15 Km da Pieve di Ledro ed è raggiungibile con l’autobus. Merita una visita la Torre Apponale con vista sul Lago di Ledro e la Rocca, una fortezza, che oggi ospita un museo. Nel centro della città si trovano molti negozi per lo shopping. Inoltre, se avete abbastanza tempo, è possibile con i battelli della Navigarda una crociera sul Lago di Garda.
TRENTO
La città principale del Trentino (60 km da Pieve di Ledro - cambio bus a Riva), che ha ospitato il concilio ecumenico della Chiesa cattolica nel 1545 accanto al centro della città e il Castello del Buonconsiglio, si può visitare il nuovo museo della scienza Muse (www.muse.it).
VERONA
La città di Romeo e Giulietta è raggiungibile in autobus o in treno. Un giorno è sufficiente per visitare gli edifici più importanti. Nel centro storico, Piazza Bra e l’Arena, Piazza delle Erbe e Piazza dei Signori, Via Cappello e Corso Porta Borsari conducono al Teatro Romano, Ponte Pietra, Castelvecchio, Ponte Scaligero e le antiche chiese di San Fermo e Sant’Anastasia, la Cattedrale (Duomo) e San Zeno. Accanto ci sono molte possibilità di shopping.
VENEZIA
Si può raggiungere Venezia in treno o in autobus. Dalla stazione ferroviaria si può prendere il vaporetto per Piazza San Marco. Navigando lungo il Canal Grande vi dà la possibilità di vedere i più bei palazzi che vi si affacciano. In Piazza San Marco (l’unica piazza chiamata Piazza Venezia), il cuore della città, da non perdere la Basilica e il campanile della chiesa e sul vicino Ponte dei Sospiri. RIVA DEL GARDA
Riva del Garda is 15 Km from Pieve di Ledro and is reachable by bus. Worth a visit the Torre Apponale with view over Lake Ledro and the Rocca, a fortress, which now hosts a Museum. In the city centre you find many shops for shopping. Moreover, if you have enough time, you can the boat of Navigarda for a cruise on Lake Garda.

VENICE
You can reach Venice by train or by bus. From the train station you can take the Vaporetto to San Marco Square. Sailing along the Canal Grande gives you the possibility to see the most beautiful buildings facing it. In San Marco Square (the only square called Piazza in Venice), the core of the city, don’t miss the Basilica and the Church Tower and the nearby Bridge of Whispers. L’AVLL ha sposato una filosofia green. Il club è alimentato da energia prodotta da pannelli fotovoltaici e da pannelli solari per il riscaldamento dell’acqua. A tutti i frequentatori del circolo sarà fornita una borraccia che ognuna tratterrà per riempire d’acqua alle fontanelle del circolo o di altre bevande. La cena e la colazione per gli equipaggi che alloggiano in appartamento sarà offerta al Hotel Pizzeria da Franco e Adriana dalle 7,30 alle 9,00 per la prima colazione ed alle 20,00 la cena. Durante la cena le bibite extra saranno a spese dei team. La cena del 5 luglio sarà al parco di Mezzolago alle ore 20,00, circa km. 1 sulla ciclabile intorno al lago. In generale, in Italia è vietato portare bevande proprie ristoranti e bar. I negozi sono aperti dalle 8,30 a 12,30 e dalle 16,00 alle 19,30. Super Coop apertura dalle 8,30 alle 19,00 orario continuato. In alcune Case per gli atleti esiste la lavatrice a gettone. Al club AVLL è presente wi-fi free. Prefisso telefonico in Italia è +39. We are glad to announce that the 7th World University Championship MR 2014 will be a ZERO-IMPACT regatta. Our sailing club is a zero-impact building itself, surrounded by green. AVLL uses to organize every event putting in practice the idea of green energy, recycling and no pollution. For breakfast and dinner all sailors together will be hosted in the Franco & Adriana hotel, located very close to both the athletes’ village and the AVLL clubhouse. During the dinner all the extra drinks must be paid by the team. The dinner of the 5th July will be take at Mezzolago at 8.00 pm. It only 1km away the clubhouse. Generally in Italy is forbidden to bring own beverages in restaurants and bars. At the club is open wi-fi. Phone country is +39.
