Either way, you have access to on-site facilities such as a full-service cafeteria, student lounge and Wi-Fi Internet.

Live alongside EF students in the heart of your destination. You’ll be close to the hottest restaurants, shopping and sporting facilities. You will have easy access by public transportation to your school. And although you are not living on campus, you can relax, knowing that EF staff are on-site around the clock to provide security, support and advice.

All Homestay hosts are carefully interviewed by experienced EF staff, and then regularly visited to ensure EF’s exacting standards for quality and comfort. Many hosts have been welcoming students for years, so they know exactly how to make you feel at home. Students appreciate the comfort and familiarity of the Homestay experience, as well as the added benefit of having hosts helping them to navigate their new city. Manchester’s indie music and art scene – as well as its world-class football teams – have made it a “must-see” city. Our school is located in the heart of the bustling student district, close to clubs, coffeeshops and the famous Curry Mile dining district.

Dublin has the intimate feel of a small town, though more than a third of Ireland’s residents call the capital city home. Here, centuries of history mix with cutting-edge music and art scenes for an atmosphere that is both enchantingly timeless and engagingly modern.

Is EF truly the world’s leading organization in language education? Absolutely. We’ve been at at the cutting edge of research for 50 years. In fact, EF has established a research unit at the University of Cambridge Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics to promote innovation in language learning and assessment. Our researchers are jointly investigating ways to fundamentally improve the way students learn English.

Q

Is it better to travel on my own or in a group?

A

That depends entirely on you. Students who have been abroad with their parents a few times – and are familiar with navigating foreign airports, public transportation to the city center, and subway systems – usually prefer the thrill of traveling independently for the first time. Those who have less experience with international travel or who just like the idea of getting there in a chaperoned group of teens from home tend to choose one of our group travel options

Q A

Q A

How are EF teachers different? They must, of course, be professionally qualified – but also great with students. Every EF teacher must possess a reputable credential to teach languages to foreign learners. Many also enhance their qualifications by taking the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test. In addition, we only accept teachers with engaging personalities who can relate with students in the classroom. It’s important that EF classtime is fun. What sets an EF school apart?

Q A Q A

What, exactly, is iLab? A technology-enhanced learning center with teacher-led guidance. Depending on the course program you choose, several of your teacher-led weekly lessons will take place using online iLab tools where you might work on anything from listening comprehension to accent reduction. You can also log on to iLab from anywhere for self-directed study: practice exam, live online classes, even access to one-on-one tutorials. iLab’s online tools include flashcards or games for vocabulary and grammar, and videos or podcasts for listening comprehension. You can even chart your improvement with EF Progress Tracker. Why is EF the best language course? The EfektaTM Learning System. You start learning from the moment you enroll on an EF course. And you continue to learn – before you travel, while you’re away, and after you return home. Is EF approved by the authorities? We’re fully accredited and approved. Rest assured, you’ll be traveling abroad with an organization you can trust. Our schools are accredited according to the highest standards set by the world’s most respected education authorities.

Travel and Medical Insurance Coverage All students are required to have medical and accident insurance coverage. We have negotiated tailor-made coverage for EF students with the insurance coverage provider Erika Insurance Ltd. We strongly recommend this policy as it protects the student against expenses incurred through accident or illness, and provides coverage for loss or theft of baggage and personal effects. It also provides coverage against interruption of the student’s EF course due to illness and includes Liability and Legal coverage. The cost of this insurance coverage is for the first two weeks, then for each additional week. If the student does not wish to take this policy, they will need to provide EF with a copy in English of the alternative insurance policy they have taken out individually. Cancellations and Refund Policy All cancellations and terminations must be made in writing to the student’s nearest EF office, EF local representative or EF School Director. In all cases the Enrollment Fee and the Cancellation Protection Fee are non-refundable.

Cancellations The Course Fee comprises two elements: Tuition Fee (40 percent) and the Student Services & Accommodation Fee (60 percent). The Tuition Fee is fully refundable if the student cancels more than 14 days prior to the course start date. Additional refunds will be made from the Student Services Fee as follows: - If the student cancel 45 days or more before the start of the course the student will receive a full refund, except for the Enrollment Fee and Cancellation Protection Fee. - If the student cancels less than 45 days prior to departure, EF will retain 40% of the Student Services and Accommodation Fee (max. $500 for USA centers, for all other centers maximum $1000) to cover the cost of pre-paid accommodation and services. For destinations in the United States: Same Day Cancellation Prior to the Start of Class: If an applicant accepted by EF enters the United States on an I-20 obtained through EF and subsequently cancels prior to the start of scheduled classes or never attends class, EF may retain: For a program of less than 12 weeks, all the tuition charges for up to four weeks, actual housing costs incurred by EF, and a maximum total of $500 for non-refundable charges including housing administration fees. For a program of 12 weeks or more, all the tuition charges for up to six weeks, any actual housing costs incurred by EF and a maximum total of total of $500 for non-refundable charges, including housing administration fees.
