Challenge : How can we teach AI to care, to think like a human being?
After finding the field of care, students must work with AI throughout the whole design process.

Challenge : Acces to education is still not the case for everyone in 21st century. Students are given task to design a tiny library, in total of 300m², in a rural area, that will attract locals.

Challenge : The denser the cities get, the exhausting they become. The task was to create pockets of joy where people can take a break from all the hustle and bustle.

This thesis project seeks to trace a submerged island’s forgotten history, to foster togetherness at the border towns of Serbia and Romania due to the results of constructing Iron Gate Dam which caused extreme damage on different layers at its surrounding. Therefore the project delves into the relationship between decision making mechanisms and possible answers to the consequences.
The research begins by establishing a narrative based on historical records, ethnographic studies, and personal testimonies, emphasizing the socio-cultural impacts of the dam’s construction. This narrative informs the design of an elevated path on the island, which serves as both a functional infrastructure and a metaphorical bridge connecting divided spaces and histories. Along this path, various spaces are crafted to act as memory banks, utilizing sensory stimuli to trigger. By blending historical elements with speculative design, an integral experience is aimed, an experience that not only hopes to honor the past but also imagines new possibilities for the future. AI tools are employed to enhance iterative refinement of design concepts.

MArch 2nd Semester, HS Anhalt DIA
Gökçeada is an island located at the west part of Turkey, neighbour of Greek islands. Rums, Turks with greek origin, used to live at the island. Later in time, the island became a Turkish land and population replacement is applied. Many Turkish families had been replaced in the newly constructed villages at the island. As a result, the old fabric of the island including the social structure and the daily interactions has totaly changed. Zeytinliköy is a well preserved village in the island, attracting many tourist with its cultural and natural heritage. However, its inhabitants speak different languages, shares different religions and therefore they are disconnected. So the question becomes: What is the threshold that seperates people with different background and how to create a space where everyone can organically gather?
The project aims to bring societies emphasizing their shared heritage and its components. The design is fragmented into two part and the level difference is used to advantage by both isolating the library from the noisy street and enhancing the view from above. Traditional construction methods, a vanishing art, are employed.
Searching the key intersection which might lead todays’ approach to shape the island.
Definning the users of the island and search for the ways to create a commun ground.
Investigating the components of the islands characteristic features.
Rum masters use stone with a specific technic and every village on the island has similar identities. The buildings are mostly two-storeys tall and have pitched roofs.
Emphasizing the change in the social structure and pointing out the neighborships.

City of Joy

Berlin Mitte holds exceptional urban-political importance in historical, cultural, and locational terms. It has a traumatic past that has not been fully reconstructed and still bears its scars. There is yet a whole dynamic of place memory to be discovered. The question was, how can this exploration be done collectively, fostering joy? What is the particular function of pleasure that can emphasize the quality of the space while underlining its context? The challenge was to create an open space full of possibilities that does not offer ready-made, consumer forms of pleasure.
Graffiti walls in the streets became a pure inspiration for the project, considering how one can participate in society in a unique and purposeful way. The walls are seen as architectural elements where an exchange of ideas can take place. The user becomes both the writer and the reader, collectively creating a narrative for the space and transforming it over time. The design is thus a living organism, a political forum, an urban stage where expression and productivity shape the elements. Different atmospheres are created to enrich the act of writing.
Public spaces emerge as authentic living spaces that reflect the collective memory and urban consciousness of a society.
Using the urban space as a communication tool is that a material trace is left behind which enables a critical perception of time in the city.
Relaxation pod is for the ones who are willing to clear up their minds and their thoughts for a fresh writing session. There are spots where one can sunbath, enjoy sky and relax on the grass near a water figure. There are people doing yoga, laying down, listening to the music.
Everyone’s house is where anyone can do the improvised writing on their own. Some people like to write on papers. Some of them use computers. The feeling of interior and exterior is fuzzy. It is like a narrow house full of cozy corners. Some people who like to go to libraries or some people who like noise and interaction despite some who are mostly isolated, this shared house provides a room for everyone.
Bookland is an inspirational place full of books. Leaders are reaching every shelf. People are reading, painting, and thinking at this tangible atmosphere. An enchanted garden floats from the walls of the tower to the top floor.
