Enjoy a spectacular view of the Emerald Coast on a scenic flight with the Eglin Aero Club! To celebrate Memorial Day, the Aero Club is offering specially priced flights for only $35 per person. Flights in a Cessna 172 are available and must be booked in advance. Flights last approximately 20 minutes. Contact the Aero Club for more info, or to make a reservation. Join the Eglin Youth Center for the 2019 America’s Kids Run! Each year, military dependants in the United States and across the world participate in America's Kids Run. This year’s event is a color run. All runners will receive an America’s Kids Run t-shirt for participating. The event is FREE and open to those with base access. Please register at www.americaskidsrun.org. Sponsors will be required to sign and submit a permission slip consenting to allow Youth Center Staff to execute any emergency actions (if needed) during the event. Sip & Paint Night REGISTRATION REQUIRED Friday, June 21 | 6 pm Find your inner artist! Come and join us for a beach-themed session of Sip & Paint Night, hosted by Splash Paint Party Studio. Price is $15 for Eglin Club members or $30 for non-members, and includes a personal cheese plate to snack on, a canvas, and all other painting supplies.
Painters will also receive one drink of their choiceincluding a glass of wine, a pint of beer, or a non-alcoholic beverage. The bar will also be open for purchases. Must be 16 and up to participate. Select Thursdays, 9:30 am-2:30 pm: May 23 | July 18 | October 31 The Airman & Family Readiness Center would like to introduce all of Eglin's military spouses to Heart Link—a top-notch program designed to provide spouses with a better understanding of the military way of life, with concentration on the Eglin mission, military customs, traditions, protocol, and knowledge of available resources and services. A fun-filled Heart Link orientation will be held at Eglin's A&FRC (Bldg. 205 on Van Matre Avenue), and all spouses are invited to attend. FREE continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Select Wednesdays, 1-2 pm: May 28 | July 17 | August 14 | September 11 Join the Eglin Airman & Family Readiness Center and learn more about how DoD and VA education benefits can help Service members and dependents pay for, or offset, the cost of tuition, housing, books, and supplies. This class will cover available benefits, including the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The briefings are held once a month at the A&FRC from 1-2 pm and are open to Active Duty Military, retirees, and dependents. REGISTRATION REQUIRED Event Schedule: Thursday, June 13 | 5 pm & Friday, June 14 | 10 am Do you have what it takes to compete? Join the Fitness Center for the 2019 Alpha Warrior Competition! The top 3 competitors will advance to Regionals at Hurlburt Field. The competition is open to all DoD personnel and family members and will take place at Battle Rig behind the Field House. The Alpha Warrior Tour is a service-wide program that utilizes specially designed, state-of-the-art obstacle apparatus called Battle Rigs and Battle Stations, providing airmen an opportunity to enhance functional fitness and to achieve a greater level of resiliency at home and while deployed. EXPERIENCE OUTDOOR REC Bldg 732 | 850-882-5058
Kayak Clinic Friday, June 1 | 7:30 am Get out on the water with Eglin Outdoor Recreation for an introductory Kayak Clinic at Postl Point! Learn how to use a sit on top kayak with the fundamentals of boat control, proper paddling apparel, potential hazards, and simple rescues. Students will be able to practice maneuvering on flat-water using entrylevel paddling skills. Cost is $20 per person and includes instruction and kayak rental. Participation is open to all base personnel and their guests, ages 8 and up. Class size is limited, so contact Outdoor Rec to sign up early. Classes may be rescheduled due to inclement weather.
Paddle Board Clinic Sunday, June 9 | 3 pm Get out on the water with Eglin Outdoor Recreation for an introductory Paddle Board Clinic at Postl Point. World Paddling Association instructors will cover equipment, various paddling strokes, and safety procedures during one hour of instruction and one hour of free paddle time.
