Youth Fall Sports Registration ENDS FRIDAY AUGUST 16 | Monday-Friday, 12-5:30 pm Late registration runs August 12-16, cost is $50 per child, or $100 per family with an additional $10 fee. A mandatory parent orientation meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the Eglin Youth Center Gym. All youth participating in sports must have a current sports physical, shot record showing current flu shot, birth certificate, and recent Parent Orientation completion on file prior to starting the first day of practice. Full registration details and forms are available at the Youth Center. VOLUNTEER COACHES ARE NEEDED! Coaches receive a $50 discount per family. Sip & Paint Night Troops to Teachers Intramural Flag Football Dog Obedience Classes
Parents Day Out Saturday, August 17 | 5-10 pm
Eglin's Child Development Center offers a special time for parents to enjoy a "Parents' Day Out" one Saturday every month. This popular child care program provides a break for parents while children are safely supervised in a fun and exciting environment. Families with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years may sign up on a space-available basis for $25 per child. Activities for children will include games, movies and craft projects. Payment is non-refundable and due at the time of pre-registration, along with completed paperwork and a current shot record. Space is limited, and reservations should be made by close of business on the Thursday prior. Families eligible for FREE participation are those with referrals for the "Give Parents a Break" program (call the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 850-882-9060 for details) and U.S. Army personnel through the Army Covenant. This informational session offers guidance on how to become a K-12, charter, or Bureau of Indian Affairs teacher. Discussions include program benefits, how to qualify for a Florida Teaching Certificate, the demand for teachers in Florida, and how to improve chances of employment. REGISTRATION REQUIRED Coaches Meeting: August 21 | 2 pm Players Sign Up (LOI's Due) by September 9 Season Starts: September 30 Players interested in participating in Eglin's Intramural Flag Football season should sign up at the Eglin Fitness Center. Contact the Fitness Center staff at 850-882-6028, or your unit's sports rep to get involved. All active duty, Guard, Reserve, DoD civilians, contractors and dependents over the age of 18 are welcome to participate in intramural sport seasons. Participants must be assigned to or affiliated with units on Eglin AFB. A coaches meeting will be held at the Main Fitness Center. All dates are tentative and subject to change. • Dog Obedience Classes
REGISTRATION REQUIRED September 11 - October 9: Wednesdays | 5-6 pm Can't get Rover to roll over? Basic Dog Obedience is just what your pup needs! Classes are specialized for pups over four months of age, or adult dogs who have had no previous training. Your canine companion will learn basic obedience commands and good doggy manners, and individual behavioral problems such as excessive barking and jumping will be addressed. Course sessions last five weeks, with classes held for a maximum of 10 dogs. The first class meeting will be for owners only (no dogs should attend, please!). Cost for each five-week course is $75 and includes everything needed to participate. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations, including kennel cough; owners are asked to bring their dog's shot record to the first class. Lap Swim Only: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 6 am - 10 am The Eglin Pool is open for use by all base personnel & their families. All non-instructed swimming at the Eglin Pool is FREE! Young swimmers ages 11 and up must pass a swim test before using the pool unattended. Please see a lifeguard during open swim. Only USCG approved flotation devices are allowed in the pool. Inflatables or foam noodles are not allowed. No flotation devices are allowed in the deep end. Mission Essential Users can request access to the pool calendar to schedule training.
