Swim Lessons at the Eglin Pool October 12 - 28 | Tuesdays & Thursdays
Eglin Outdoor Recreation is hosting swimming lessons at the Eglin Pool! The session includes six classes that meet every Tuesday and Thursday from Oct. 12 to Oct. 28, and there are two different age groups. Parent-tot classes (9-36 months) are 9 - 9:30 a.m. or 10:20 - 10:50 a.m., and preschool classes (ages 3-5) are 9:40 - 10:10 a.m. or 11 - 11:30 a.m. The cost is $60 per session and is prorated based on when kids are registered — there is a $10 discount for each missed class until Oct. 19. There is no deadline to register for the session. Space is limited, and kids must be registered prior to the start of each class. Stop by or call Outdoor Rec to learn more and register. 850-882-5058
RecOn* Foilboarding Experience Saturday, October 16 | 10 am
Eglin Outdoor Recreation is offering a foilboarding experience to six eligible participants, hosted by XL Kites! A foilboard is a surfboard with a hydrofoil that extends below the board into the water which allows the board to leave the surface of the water at various speeds. Participants will meet at the Outdoor Rec Center at Postl Point and are encouraged to bring water, sunglasses, sunscreen and a towel. Each participant will get about 45 minutes on the board. Cost is $30 per person, and space is limited. 96 FSS S&E Hiring Event
October 27 - 28 | Register by Monday, October 18 The 96th Force Support Squadron Civilian Personnel Section is hosting a Science & Engineering (S&E) hiring event on Oct. 27 and 28! The hiring event will be held at the University of Florida REEF and will include scheduled interviews only. The event is not open to the public, and walk-ins are not permitted. Movie Nights at Postl Point Fridays | 7 pm
Enjoy outdoor movies at Postl Point on Friday nights! Parking will accommodate up to 50 vehicles per show. Admission is FREE and open to all Eglin personnel and family members. Kayak Clinic Saturday, October 16 | 11 am
Get out on the water with Eglin Outdoor Recreation for an introductory Kayak Clinic at Postl Point! Learn how to use a sit-on-top kayak with the fundamentals of boat control, proper paddling apparel, potential hazards and simple rescues. Students will be able to practice maneuvering on flat water using entry-level paddling skills. Cost is $25 per person and includes instruction and kayak rental. Participation is open to all base personnel and their guests, ages 8 and up. Class size is limited, so contact Outdoor Rec to sign up early. Classes may be rescheduled due to inclement weather. 850-882-5058
Zombie Run Friday, October 29 | 7:15 am
Run for your lives at the Eglin Fitness Center's Zombie Run! All with base access are invited to participate in the 1.5-mile run starting at the entrance of the Fitness Field House (Bldg 741). Participants will be given a belt with flags that represent your health. Zombies will try to take your flags—and maybe eat your brains! Use speed, strategy and your intact brains to make it to the finish “alive” with at least one flag intact. If you cross the finish line with at least one flag, then you'll receive a “Survivor” medal; if you cross with no flags, then you'll receive an “Infected” medal. Volunteer Coaches Needed for Youth Basketball!
The Eglin Youth Program is excited to bring back Winter Basketball for the 2021-2022 season, and we need YOU to volunteer as a coach! Volunteer coaches will play a vital role in rebooting the Eglin Youth Sports season, and coaches training must be completed before the start of the season on Monday, Dec. 6.
