Thanksgiving Meals at The Breeze Thursday, November 28 - Lunch: 11 am-1 pm | Dinner: 5-6 pm The Breeze Dining Facility is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Day dining event, and all Team Eglin personnel and families are invited to enjoy the feast! Lunchtime dining will be open 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and the dinner meal will be served 5-6 p.m. Reservations are not required. A full banquet of traditional Thanksgiving favorites will be available a la carte and individually priced. (An estimated meal cost is $10-$15.) Entrée selections are Roast Turkey, Roast Beef, and Baked Ham with Peach Glaze. Side items include Candied Sweet Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, Vegetable Medley, Braised Kale, Corn Pudding, Bread Dressing, and more. 35th Annual Holiday Greeting Card Competition DEADLINE FOR DISPLAY: Friday, December 13 REGISTER AT EGLIN OUTDOOR RECREATION
The festive tradition continues! All base organizations are invited to show their holiday spirit and enter Eglin's 35th Annual Greeting Card Competition. Create a giant holiday card wishing season's greetings from your organization to the Eglin community. Cards will be set up and displayed throughout December along both sides of the west section of Eglin Blvd, from the intersection at Nomad Way to the All Wars Memorial. A panel of judges will evaluate the displays based on theme, originality, and workmanship, and select 1st through 3rd place and honorable mention winners to be awarded cash prizes totaling over $1,200. Cards must be officially registered for the contest at Eglin Outdoor Recreation (open hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m.), then be completed and on display at their designated spot before Friday, Dec. 13 to be included in the judging. Winners will be announced and awards presented at the annual WinterFest on Thursday, Dec. 19 at Eglin's Bayview Event Center. • Intramural Basketball
Players Sign Up (LOI's Due) by December 6 | Season Starts: January 6, 2020
Players interested in participating in Eglin's Intramural Basketball season should sign up at the Eglin Fitness Center. Contact the Fitness Center staff at 850-882-6028, or your unit's sports rep to get involved. All active duty, Guard, Reserve, DoD civilians, contractors and dependents over the age of 18 are welcome to participate in intramural sport seasons. Participants must be assigned to or affiliated with units on Eglin AFB. A coaches meeting will be held at the Main Fitness Center. All dates are tentative and subject to change. • Star Wars Movie Nights December 6 & 13 | 6 pm
Calling all Star Wars fans! Eglin Outdoor Recreation is premiering its new "Insane Impact" mega-screen at Postl Point, with Friday-night showings of all eight episodes of the Star Wars movie saga. It's the perfect way to prepare for the cinematic release of Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker! Showtime is 6 p.m. on these dates: Dec. 6 - Episode VII: The Force Awaken | Dec. 13 - Episode VIII: The Last Jedi Admission is FREE and open to all base personnel, families, and guests. Moviegoers are welcome to bring snacks, coolers, blankets, and lawn chairs. Outdoor Rec's store will be open 5:45-7 p.m. for those who would like to purchase popcorn, drinks, and snacks on site. A $25 FSS gift card will be given away at each showing, and additional giveaways are planned for the series' conclusion, including a box set of all eight episodes! (Must be present to win.) Join Eglin ITT on their annual day trip to Tallahassee the ever-popular Market Days—one of the Southeast's biggest and best arts and crafts festivals! Market Days is a premier juried show featuring over 300 selected artists and craftsmakers displaying works ranging from fine art to gourmet foods to charming stocking stuffers, all perfectly priced for holiday shopping. • Hot Chocolate Hiking Trip Saturday, December 7 | 8:30 am
Eglin Outdoor Recreation invites you out for a Hot Chocolate Hiking Trip along a portion of the Florida National Scenic Trail. Participants meet at Eglin's Outdoor Recreation Center at Postl Point for an 8:30 a.m. departure. Cost is $15 per person and includes round trip transportation to the trail (about 45 minutes away), a hiking permit, and did we mention hot chocolate? Participation is open to all base personnel and their guests, ages 8 and up. Sign up at Outdoor Rec and please make staff aware of any allergies or other pertinent medical conditions when signing up. • RecOn: Indoor Bouldering Trip Saturday, December 7 | 9:30 am
*This is a RecOn event open to all Active Duty and Reserve personnel and family members. Join Eglin Outdoor Recreation for a visit to Rock Out Climbing Gym in Destin- a premier indoor rock climbing facility. This two-hour scheduled event starts with departure time from the Eglin Outdoor Rec Center at Postl Point. The trip costs $10, and round trip transportation is included.
