Bear-y Popular Downtown in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina A group of acrylic bears emerge from hibernation each year in downtown Hendersonville in the mountains of North Carolina. This spring and summer mark the 16th year for this public art project in which 20 colorful bears take up residence Hendersonville’s Main Street. Each bear is painted with its own theme by a local artist and kept under wraps until a special reveal ceremony on the plaza of First Citizens Bank. This year’s reveal is May 11.
