نظمت شركة بوٌنج العالمٌة الٌوم االثنٌن ،جولة تفقدٌة لوفد مصر للطٌران ،والوفد اإلعالمً المرافق له ،بمصنع شركة بوٌنج فى رٌنتون بمدٌنة سٌاتل بالوالٌات المتحدة األمرٌكٌة ،وذلك لالطالع على خطوات تصنٌع الطائرات وطالئها ،حٌث ٌعد هذا المصنع أكبر منشأة لتصنٌع الطائرات العرٌضة على مستوى العالم ومتخصص فً إنتاج طرازات البوٌنج ،B767 ،B747وعائلة الدرٌمالٌنر و،B777وأحدث طرازات الشركة مؤخراً وهو .B777X

مصر للطٌران تنهى إجراءات استالم طائرة "الدرٌمالٌنر" الثانٌة رسالة سٌاتل :رحاب نبٌل
انتهت الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،من كافة إجراءات استالم طائرتها الثانٌة من طراز البوٌنج "الدرٌمالٌنر " "9-787بمصنع شركة بوٌنج فى رٌنتون بمدٌنة سٌاتل بالوالٌات المتحدة األمرٌكٌة ،ضمن صفقة طوٌلة األمد لشراء 6طائرات ،للتأكد من سالمة وأمن األجهزة المالحٌة للطائرة قبل استالمها بشكل رسمى والوصول بها إلى مصر. وقام وفد من شركة مصر للطٌران والمكلف باستالم الطائرة ،بإنهاء كافة إجراءات المراجعة على كافة أجزاء الطائرة وأجهزتها لالطمئنان على كفاءة تشغٌلها ،تمهٌدا لإلقالع بها من مصنع شركة بوٌنج بوالٌة سٌاتل االمرٌكٌة األربعاء المقبل لتصل إلى مطار القاهرة الدولى صباح الخمٌس. ضم الوفد عددا من الطٌارٌن بشركة مصر للطٌران ومسئولٌن فى قطاعات الصٌانة وكبائن الطائرات ،وإدارة التجهٌزات الداخلٌة لكبائن الطائرة ،ورجال قانون وإدارات المالٌة ،والتعاقدات بقطاع التخطٌط بالشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران ،ودراسات الجدوى وإدارة التخطٌط وإدارة األسطول. ٌتسع هذا الطراز لعدد 309مقاعد ،منقسمة إلى 30مقعداً من الفئة الماسٌة الـ Super Diamond Full-flat Bedفً درجة رجال األعمال و 279مقعدًا بالدرجة السٌاحٌة مزودة بكل وسائل الرفاهٌة والمقاعدة الفاخرة . وتعد الطائرة األفضل فً توفٌر الوقود ،وٌبلغ معدل انضباطها فً اإلقالع 99بالمئة على مستوى العالم ،وتم تطوٌرها لتصبح أقل فً استهالك الوقود بـ 20بالمئة مقارنة بمثٌالتها من الطائرات التجارٌة وتتمٌز الطائرة بمقاعدها التً تم تصمٌمها بعناٌة ،حٌث ٌمكن فردها إلى 180درجة لتصبح كالسرٌر ،وتتمٌز بمساحة نوافذها التً تعد أكبر من الطائرات المماثلة ،وٌمكن للمسافر أن ٌتحكم فً معدل سطوع النوافذ من خالل ضغطة زر واحدة.

تستعد مصر للطٌران الستقبال ،طائرتها الثانٌة من طراز البوٌنج " " B787-9المعروفة باسم الدٌمرالٌنزر أو طائرة األحالم ضمن صفقة شراء 6طائرات من طراز الدٌمرالٌنزر ،والتً من المقرر أن تصل إلى مطار القاهرة الدولً ،الخمٌس المقبل. وقالت مصادر بالشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،إن الوجهات المقرر أن ٌتم تشغٌل الطائرة الجدٌدة علٌها ،تضم عدة نقاط" واشنطن ونٌوٌورك ودبً وفرانكفورت وتورنتو ولندن". وكان وفد شركة مصر للطٌران ،غادر مطار القاهرة الدولى ،متوجها إلى مدٌنة سٌاتل األمرٌكٌة ،الستالم طائرتها الثانٌة من طراز بوٌنج " "B787-9المعروفة باسم الدٌمرالٌنزر أو طائرة األحالم ضمن صفقة شراء 6طائرات من طراز الدٌمرالٌنزر. وقال الطٌار أحمد عادل ،رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران :إن الشركة تسٌر بخطى كبٌرة لتحدٌث أسطول الشركة ،حٌث سٌتم إضافة 33طائرة جدٌدة بنهاٌة ،2020منهم 6طائرات بوٌنج درٌمالٌنر ،و 12طائرة من طراز إٌرباص "" ،A220-300و 15طائرة من طراز إٌرباص "A320neo". وٌتسع طراز البوٌنج " "B787-9المعروف باسم الدٌمرالٌنزر ،إلى 309مقاعد ،وٌنقسم إلى 30مقعدا لدرجة رجال األعمال و 279مقعدًا بالدرجة السٌاحٌة ،مزودة بكل وسائل الرفاهٌة والمقاعد الفاخرة. جدٌر بالذكر أن الشركة تسلمت أول طائرة من نفس الطراز بداٌة الشهر الجاري ،لالنضمام إلى أسطول الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران.

"مصر للطٌران" تنقل الٌوم 940معتمرا فلسطٌنٌا ألداء مناسك العمرة كتب أحمد مصطفى
ٌغادر مطار القاهرة الدولً ،مساء الٌوم االثنٌن 940معتمرا فلسطٌنٌا ،على متن 4رحالت تابعة للشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران متوجهٌن إلى األراضى المقدسة ،ألداء مناسك العمرة.
وقام مطار القاهرة بالتنسٌق مع مصر للطٌران بتوجٌهات من وزٌر الطٌران المدنى الفرٌق ٌونس المصرى ،على توفٌر فرٌق من العالقات العامة إلنهاء إجراءات وصول المعتمرٌن الفلسطٌنٌٌن القادمٌن من معبر رفح البرى ،وتسهٌل إجراءات سفر كبار السن. وتمكنت مصر للطٌران ،من نقل 5600معتمر فلسطٌنً إلى األراضً المقدسة من مطار القاهرة الدولً، على متن 24رحلة جوٌة ،ألداء مناسك العمرة ،وفق بروتوكول تعاون مع الجانب الفلسطٌنى تقوم بموجبه بتسٌٌر 56رحلة جوٌة ،لنقل 13ألف معتمر من دولة فلسطٌن بداٌة من 4مارس حتى ٌ 5ونٌو المقبل. وبدأت مصر للطٌران تسٌٌر الرحالت الخاصة 4مارس الماضً وٌستمر حتى ٌ 5ونٌو المقبل ،بواقع 4 رحالت ٌوم االثنٌن من كل أسبوع على طائرات الشركة من طراز اإلٌرباص . 200 -330 وكانت السلطات المصرٌة وافقت على عبور 20ألف معتمر فلسطٌنً من قطاع غزة عبر منفذ رفح البري ألداء مناسك العمرة ،على أن ٌتم نقلهم من قطاع غزة عبر منفذ رفح البري بواقع 1000معتمر أسبوعٌا إلى مطار القاهرة الدولً. االدارة العامة للعالقات العامة والمراسم الشركة القابضة لمصر للطيران

2 موعد السفر أٌضا ٌوضح الموقع أفضل ٌوم لحجز تذكرة الطٌران ،حٌث وجدت دراسة قام بها الموقع أن الٌوم المحدد من األسبوع الذي ٌتم فٌه حجز رحلة لن ٌكون له تأثٌر كبٌر على سعره ،بقدر تأثٌر ٌوم السفر . دوالرا فً المتوسط أرخص وجاء ٌوم الثالثاء هو أرخص ٌوم فً األسبوع ،حٌث كانت الرحالت الجوٌة تصل إلى 85 ً من الٌوم األكثر تكلفة فً األسبوع األحد. األسعار والمواسم أسعار الطٌران تتقلب أٌضا اعتمادا على الموسم ،فً فصل الشتاء ٌ ،مكن للمسافرٌن العثور على خٌارات بأسعار معقولة طالما أنهم ٌبتعدون عن الطٌران فً أسبوع عٌد المٌالد وإلى وجهات التزلج على الجلٌد. رحالت الشتاء وأكد الموقع أن متوسط أفضل وقت للحجز هو ٌ 94و ًما (حوالً ثالثة أشهر) من تارٌخ السفر ،مع نافذة الحجز الرئٌسٌة تمتد من 74إلى ٌ 116و ًما قبل الرحلة ،وٌمٌل فصل الشتاء إلى أن ٌكون أغلى موسم للسفر ،حٌث ٌبلغ دوالرا. متوسط الرحالت الداخلٌة 433 ً رحالت الربٌع التخطٌط للمستقبل ٌصبح مه ًما لرحالت الربٌع ،وذلك بفضل زٌادة عدد الرحالت العائلٌة وعطلة الربٌع ،متوسط أفضل وقت للحجز هو ٌ 84و ًما (حوالً ثالثة أشهر) قبل تارٌخ السفر ،و الحجز الرئٌسً قبل 47إلى ٌ 119و ًما. رحالت الصٌف ٌُعد السفر فً شهري أغسطس وسبتمبر وق ًتا أفضل للصفقات الصٌفٌة ،مع متوسط أفضل وقت للحجز قبل ٌ 99و ًما من السفر ،والحجز الرئٌسً فً الصٌف بٌن 21و ٌ 150و ًما قبل المغادرة. لذلكٌ ،ستحسن دائما ً حجز التذكرة قبل فترة تتراوح بٌن 45وٌ 60وما ً من موعد الرحلة ،وهً الفترة التً تعلن فٌها الشركات عن عروضها ،كما أنها الفترة التً ٌمكن فٌها إٌجاد تذاكر بسعر رخٌص.

خبراء طٌران روس ٌفتشون مطاري الغردقة وشرم الشٌخ بالنصف الثانً من أبرٌل أعلن الطٌران المدنً الروسً ،أن الخبراء الروس بدأوا فً إجراءات تفتٌش فً مجال األمن فً مطاري الغردقة وشرم الشٌخ. وقال ناطق فً الهٌئة :الخبراء الروس بدأوا فً التحقق من األمن فً مطاري الغردقة وشرم الشٌخ. وأعلنت الخارجٌة الروسٌة ،الٌوم اإلثنٌن ،أن مجموعة من المختصٌن الروس فً أمن الطٌران ستتوجه إلى مصر فً النصف الثانً من شهر أبرٌل الجاري. وردا على سؤال حول كٌف ٌجري الحوار مع مصر فٌما ٌتعلق بأمن الطٌران واألمن فً المناطق السٌاحٌة ،قال أولٌج سٌرومولوتوف ،نائب وزٌر الخارجٌة الروسً :االستئناف الكامل لرحالت الطٌران بٌن روسٌا ومصر ال ٌزال واحدا من أهم القضاٌا على جدول األعمال الثنائً ،واألولوٌة بال شك بالنسبة لنا هً ضمان سالمة الركاب الروس. جدٌر بالذكر ،أن الرحالت الجوٌة الروسٌة المباشرة إلى الغردقة وشرم الشٌخ ،ما زالت معلقة منذ إسقاط طائرة "إٌرباص "321التابعة لشركة "كوغالٌم آفٌا" الروسٌة فً صحراء سٌناء فً 31أكتوبر ،2015وعلى متنها 224 شخصا ،بسبب تفجٌر عبوة ناسفة ،ولكن الرحالت الجوٌة المباشرة بٌن موسكو والقاهرة عادت فً 11أبرٌل .2018 وكان الرئٌس عبد الفتاح السٌسً ،أعرب خالل وزٌر الخارجٌة الروسً سٌرجً الفروف ،فً العاصمة المصرٌة القاهرة ،عن تطلع بالده النتهاء الجانب الروسً من اإلجراءات الالزمة الستئناف الطٌران بٌن المدن الروسٌة ومنتجعً الغردقة وشرم الشٌخ المصرٌٌن قرٌبا.

طٌران اإلمارات تكشف عن تصمٌم جدٌد لمقصورات طائرة بوٌنغ 777من وحً سٌارة مرسٌدس بنز ..كٌف ٌبدو؟
دبً ،اإلمارات العربٌة المتحدة ( CNN) --رفعت شركة طٌران اإلمارات الستار عن تصمٌم "بوٌنغ "777الداخلً الجدٌد ،والذي ٌكشف عن أجنحة أو مقصورات خاصة بالدرجة األولى ،كانت قد اُستوحٌت من سٌارة "مرسٌدس بنز" ..فكٌف تبدو؟ وبحسب البٌان الذي ُنشر على موقع طٌران اإلمارات ،تسعى هذه األجنحة ،التً تصل مساحتها لـ 40قدما ً مربعاً، وهً مرتبة بتوزٌع ،1-1-1إلى ضمان راحة الركاب. وكانت الطائرة قد قامت بأعمال تجدٌد تبلغ كلفتها مالٌٌن الدوالرات ،بما فً ذلك مقاعد مصممة حدٌثاً ،وأنظمة ترفٌهٌة مطورة فً جمٌع األجنحة. واستوحت "بوٌنغ" تصمٌم أجنحتها الخاصة من مقاعد سٌارة "مرسٌدس بنز الفئة "Sالجلدٌة ،وإضاءتها ،ولوحات تحكمها عالٌة التقنٌة .إذ ٌتحول المقعد المصنوع من الجلد الناعم إلى سرٌر مسطحٌ ،مكن ضبطه فً وضعٌة "انعدام الجاذبٌة" ،التً جرى استلهامها من إحدى تقنٌات وكالة الفضاء األمرٌكٌة "ناسا". وبهدف توفٌر مشاهد ُتمتع نظر الركاب الذٌن تقع أجنحتهم وسط الممر ،أوضح البٌان أن شركة طٌران اإلمارات توفر نوافذ افتراضٌة ألول مرة .بٌنما توفر األجنحة األخرى مناظٌر للركاب حتى ٌتمكنوا من استكشاف السماء خارج نوافذهم. وإذا أراد أحد الركاب التواصل مع طاقم العمل ،أو حتى طلب خدمة الغرف ،فبإمكانه القٌام بذلك بكل سهولة من خالل المكالمات المرئٌة .لٌس ذلك فحسب ،وإنما تتمٌز األجنحة بوجود نافذة خدمةُ ،تقدم من خاللها للركاب المشروبات، والمقبالت ،دون التسبب باإلزعاج. وخارج المقصورة ،ستجد عمالً فنٌا ً ٌعكس شجرة الغاف ،التً ال تعد من النباتات دائمة الخضرة فحسب ،وإنما أٌضا ً الشجرة الوطنٌة فً دولة اإلمارات العربٌة المتحدة. وبحسب الحساب الرسمً لطٌران اإلمارات على موقع "إنستغرام" ،أوضحت الشركة أن طائرة بوٌنغ ER-300 777س ُتحلق إلى الرٌاض بدءاً من 16أبرٌل /نٌسان ،2019والكوٌت بدءاً من ٌ 1ونٌو /حزٌران .2019 صممت بالتعاون مع "بوٌنغ" ،وشركة "باناسونٌك" ،واستودٌو " Jacques و ٌُشار إلى أن المقصورات قد ُ " ،Pierre Jean Designوشركة " "Teagueللتصمٌم ،باإلضافة إلى " "Rockwell Collinsلتصمٌم األنظمة الداخلٌة. االدارة العامة للعالقات العامة والمراسم

Etihad Airways selects IBS software to transform operational efficiency and improve passengers‟ satisfaction
Etihad Airways and IBS Software (IBS), a provider of new generation IT travel solutions, have signed a contract to enhance the airline‟s operations. This will be done by implementing IBS‟ iFlight NEO Ops and iFlight NEO HUB systems as the core technological solutions that will help increase on-time performance, improve operational efficiency, maintain network integrity and enhance hub connectivity. Under the contract, Etihad Airways will use IBS solutions to automate the monitoring and management of guests and baggage journeys, especially when the journey involves a connection through the airline‟s Abu Dhabi Hub.

Air Arabia goes long-range with first A321neo
The A321LR (MSN8714( has been flown to the airline‟s Sharjah base from the airframer‟s assembly plant at Hamburg Finkenwerder. Air Arabia is an all-Airbus A320-family operator but the new aircraft (A6-ATA) is the first example of the A321 for the carrier. The 215-seat jet, taken from US lessor Air Lease, is powered by CFM International Leap-1A engines. “Addition of this new aircraft allows us to expand our service to farther and newer destinations while remaining loyal to our low-cost business model,” says chief executive Adel Ali. It is one of six A321neos which will be introduced to the Air Arabia fleet, which is distributes across four operating bases in the Middle East and northern Africa.

Emirates to deploy its latest Boeing 777-300ER to Riyadh and Kuwait
Emirates will be operating its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft fitted with the First Class suites from Dubai to Riyadh starting from 16 April 2019 and Kuwait starting from 1 June 2019. Emirates operates to Riyadh with four flights a day and to Kuwait with six daily flights. Currently, the airline operates its latest Boeing 777-300ER aircraft fitted with First Class suites to Brussels, Geneva, Vienna and London Stansted.

Boeing's March 2019 order book changes revealed
Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines Group injected additional INR9 billion rupees (USD130 million) into their 51/49 joint venture Vistara (UK, Delhi Int'l) to finance the airline's fleet growth and international expansion, Live Mint has reported. The Indian conglomerate provided INR4.6 billion rupees (USD66.3 million), while the Singaporean group injected INR4.4 billion rupees (USD63.4 million). The refinancing was conducted through two separate new share issues in December 2018 and March 2019. "The proceeds of the rights issue will be mostly used to fund the purchase and lease of fifty-six aircraft. The money will also help us in lowering losses and attaining break-even faster," an airline official said. The fifty-six aircraft are thirteen A320-200neo on order from Airbus, thirtyseven such aircraft from lessors, and six B787-9s on order from Boeing. The official clarified that out of the entire batch of fifty A320neo, between nine and twelve will replace A320-200s while the remainder will be used to grow the fleet.

1 India's aviation industry hits unexpected roadblock: What lies ahead? India saw an impressive growth trajectory of the Aviation Sector with a CAGR of 12.72% between 2006 and 2018 and proposed Capital Expenditure of Rs. 180 billion over the next four years. The sector has hit an expected roadblock causing speculation on the industry‟s future. There is much cavern around the discernible similarities between the two crashes of Boeing 737 Max 8 Passenger aircrafts- Lion Air flight off the coast of Indonesia on 29th October 2018 and Ethiopian Airlines flight on 10th March 2019. This has prompted countries around the world to ban the 737 Max 8 pending conclusive safety investigations. India‟s Aviation Industry regulator, DGCA grounded the operation of the Boeing 737 Max 8 through notifications dated 11th March 2019 and 13th March 2019. This threw schedules of the aviation sector into disarray with widespread cancellations of flights with inflated airfares. DGCA is likely to intervene in the matter to combat the spiralling airfares. Since the airfares of the airlines are driven by market forces, it remains to be seen how and to what extent can DGCA regulate this situation. This incident seems to have accentuated the financial crisis of a leading fullservice carrier, Jet Airways which operated five Boeing 737 Max 8 jets. The Airline is reportedly in the midst of resolution talks at present, and a resolution plan was expected by the end of March 2019. Jet Airways had been reeling under financial woes, reportedly piling up to $ 1 billion in red on its balance sheets. With the grounding of the 737 Max 8s, there has been a rise in demand for the aircrafts in Jet‟s grounded fleet, particularly older versions of the Boeing 737. This may prompt financiers to re-deploy the aircrafts, pushing Jet into further trouble. Another low-cost carrier, SpiceJet, which operated 12 Boeing 737 Max 8 aircrafts is the worst affected. It has leased two additional aircrafts to tide over the spate of cancellations caused by the grounding. 2 IndiGo, the largest low-cost carrier in India holds the highest market share in India. While IndiGo remained comparatively insulated from the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max 8 since it operates an Airbus fleet, it faced similar woes last year on account of the grounding of Airbus 320 (Neo) aircrafts on account of technical glitches in the Pratt & Whitney engines and the unavailability of spares. Shortage of pilots, skilled manpower and ground crew is increasingly becoming a daunting challenge for the industry, with reports of overworked personnel, increasing the chances of errors and creating safety concerns. On a sector wide basis, airlines have been under a growing financial strain. From an infrastructural viewpoint, the Delhi and Mumbai Airports have been under a constant strain of over-utilised capacities. There is an imminent need to increase the capacities of these airports to ensure continued smooth operations. On the domestic circuit, the sector has been facing competition from the upgraded railway network and amidst the chaos caused by cancelations and rising prices, the railway ministry through a tweet, encouraged passengers to “Skip the Airways - Grab the Railways”. Faced with widespread cancellations and delays, passengers can seek recourse from airlines under the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) issued by the DGCA under Section 3, Series M, Part IV, revised on 27th February 2019. However, in regard to the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX 8, Clause 1.4 of the CAR, Series M, Part IV exempts the airlines‟ obligation to pay compensation in cases where the cancelations and delays have been caused by extraordinary circumstance(s) beyond the control of the airline. In the present scenario, a majority of cancellations are attributed to DGCA‟s direction dated 13th March 2019 ordering the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircrafts. In view of airlines‟ growing financial woes, there arises a question of insurance or compensation claims being made against Boeing for the losses suffered due to grounding of their aircrafts. An important factor in determining such claims would be the ultimate report of the investigation, determining the cause behind the crash of flight ET302, and whether any fault lies in the design, software of االدارة العامة للعالقات العامة والمراسم all Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircrafts.

3 From a prima facie standpoint, Ethiopian Authorities have reportedly made statements indicating that there appear to be similarities between the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines and Lion Air flights. If established, this finding would substantially increase Boeing‟s liabilities as it may then be contested that Boeing was warned of the alleged flaw in the aircraft by the Lion Air crash, yet failed to take adequate safety measures to fix the same. Whether or not the affected airlines will receive compensation from Boeing ultimately depends on the specific terms of the lease or purchase agreements under which the airlines have procured the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircrafts. Until the investigating authorities come to a conclusive decision, it is prudent to consider that the decision to ground has been taken on account of safety concerns which have not yet been conclusively proven but are precautionary in nature. If Boeing‟s liability is proven, the nature of claims that can be made would change and the possibility of being awarded compensation may increase. Awaiting the results of the investigations, it becomes essential to carefully review the terms of the airlines‟ business interruption insurance agreements, in order to claim cover for losses suffered due to the grounding. Certain insurance policies may not cover cases of a global aircraft grounding such as the case with Boeing 737 MAX 8. Additionally, the insurance policies of airlines often do not contemplate business interruption clauses and may be restricted to hull insurance, passenger insurance and third-party liability insurance. However, if the terms of the airlines‟ business interruption insurance or aircraft lease / purchase agreements contemplate remedies for losses causes due to grounding of aircrafts, claims should be made without delay. In either scenario, it is likely that the determination of these claims may take considerable time, considering that the investigation into the cause of the crash is likely to be lengthy and resultantly, the period of grounding remains uncertain. Though the present situation appears bleak, the stacks are piled high in favour of the sector‟s recovery, keeping in mind the unwavering support and impetus for growth provided by the government and the steadily increasing demand for aviation services and connectivity in the country. Despite the frenzy caused by recent events, the Indian Government remains hopeful. 1 Embraer‟s E195-E2 receives type certification Brazilian airframer Embraer has achieved type certification for its E195-E2 jet and remains on track for the aircraft to enter service with Azul in the second half of 2019. Three regulatory agencies – those of Brazil, Europe and the USA – certified the jet, which is the largest commercial aircraft produced by a Brazilian company, says Embraer president of commercial aircraft John Slattery. “Today is a piece of history,” he tells FlightGlobal. “We are ready for delivery.” Embraer has not disclosed the date it expects to deliver the first E195-E2 to Azul. The Brazilian airline operates first-generation E-Jets and has outstanding orders for 51 E195-E2s. The certifications mark another instance in which Embraer has met development goals for its E-Jets E2 programme, which the company launched in 2013. Embraer delivered the first E190-E2 last year and has targetted a 2021 entryinto-service for the third member of the E2 trio, the E175-E2. The Pratt & Whitney PW1900-powered E195-E2 can carry up to 146 passengers in a single-class configuration and has range up to 2,600nm (4,820km), according to Embraer. By comparison, the first-generation E195 can carry 124 passengers and has a 2,300nm range. The latest variant has flyby-wire technology, a new wing and new landing gear. Embraer says on 15 April that test flights have demonstrated the E195-E2 burns 1.4% less fuel than originally specified, making its per-seat fuel burn 25.4% less than the E195‟s. Airlines worldwide have placed firm orders for 111 E195-E2s. Customers other than Azul include lessors AerCap, with 44 orders, and Aircastle, with 13 orders. Nigerian airline Air Peace holds 10 E195-E2 orders and Canary Islands carrier Binter Canarias has three aircraft on order, according to Embraer. Though Embraer has not sold the type to a major international carrier, Slattery exudes optimism.

2 “There are campaigns that are in full steam,” he says. “I would be disappointed if this year we aren‟t identifying marque carriers on the E195-E2.” Asked about potential sales to North American airlines, he adds: “I would see no reason American, Delta, United, Southwest and all the larger airlines in North American wouldn‟t look at this aircraft”. North American airlines that reportedly are considering buying E195-E2s include Spirit Airlines and United Airlines. Slattery cites the type‟s ability to operate from shorter runways and its performance from hot-and-high cities such as Denver, where E195-E2s can fly up to 900nm farther than E195-E1s. “It opens up many more markets,” he says. Embraer estimates airlines will need about 6,400 aircraft in the E195-E2‟s size in the next 20 years. Airlines in three regions – North America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States – will each require 2530% of those aircraft, while Latin American and Middle Eastern airlines will each require about 10%. Slattery says he has committed to spend more time in Asia to help position Embraer to win campaigns in that fast-growing region.

Spain's AlbaStar applies for US authorisation AlbaStar (AP, Palma de Mallorca) has applied to the US Department of Transportation for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit and an exemption authority. In its application, the carrier did not disclose its specific plans to operate to the US. It only said that it seeks to exercise "the full rights available to EU Member State air carriers pursuant to the Air Transport Agreement between the United States and the European Union and its Member States". AlbaStar operates two B737-400s and three B737-800s and engages in scheduled passenger transport, charter flights under its own code, and ACMI operations for other carriers. As of mid-April, the airline's only scheduled routes are from Milan Bergamo to Catania and Lourdes/Tarbes, and from Milan Malpensa to Catania.

Ethiopian Airlines to add JFK flights in late 2Q19
Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa) will relocate its New York services operated via Abidjan from New York Newark to New York JFK on June 17, 2019, ch-aviation schedule analysis has revealed. The Ethiopian flag carrier currently operates from Addis Ababa via Abidjan to Newark 2x weekly. After the relocation, the service will continue to be operated via Abidjan but the frequency will increase to 3x weekly. The carrier will continue to serve Newark 4x weekly via Lomé. Ethiopian Airlines' US network also encompasses services via Dublin Int'l to Chicago O'Hare (3x weekly) and Washington Dulles (daily). The airline plans to launch 3x weekly flights to Houston Intc'lvia Lomé on June 23 and to Washington Dulles via Lomé on June 20. The carrier is unable to serve the US directly due to the high altitude and hot weather at Addis Ababa limiting the aircraft take-off performance. All Ethiopian Airlines' flights to the US are operated with B787-8s except for the Addis Ababa-Dublin-Washington service operated with B777-300(ER)s.

AirAsia to resume int'l route to Tarutung Silangit
AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur Int'l) will resume its route from Kuala Lumpur Int'l to Tarutung in Indonesia, the only international service to the latter airport. ch-aviation schedule analysis has revealed that the Malaysian LCC intends to fly to Tarutung, an airport in northern Sumatra, 4x weekly using A320-200 aircraft, starting on May 24, 2019. It has previously operated to the airport serving Lake Toba from October 28, 2018 to February 27, 2019. Tarutung currently sees 46 scheduled flights weekly to Jakarta SoekarnoHatta, Jakarta Halim, and Medan Kuala Namu operated by Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Sriwijaya Air, Batik Air, and Wings Air (Indonesia). The airport will become AirAsia's fourteenth Indonesian destination.
