"مصر للطٌران" تنقل 68ألف حاج بزٌادة 6آالف عن السعة المطروحة خالل الموسم كتب هانى عثمان -أحمد حمادة
نجحت الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران فى تسٌٌر ما ٌزٌد عن 360رحلة إلى جدة والمدٌنة ،وذلك لنقل حجاج بٌت هللا الحرام خالل موسم الحج. وقالت مصادر ،إن الشركة نجحت خالل األسبوعٌن الماضٌٌن فى نقل 68ألف حاج إلى المملكة العربٌة السعودٌة ،وذلك بزٌادة 6آالف حاج عن السعة المقعدٌة التى طرحتها الشركة قبل بدء موسم الحج. وأشارت المصادر إلى أن أكثر من 360رحلة أقلعت من مطار القاهرة إلى المملكة العربٌة السعودٌة لنقل الحجاج ،مشٌرة إلى أنه جارى التنسٌق من أجل االستعداد لموسم عودة الحجاج.

مصر للطٌران تستعد لنقل 70ألف حاج خالل رحالت العودة بدءا من 27أغسطس حمدي بكري بدأت الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران االستعداد لموسم عودة الحجاج والذي من المقرر أن ٌبدأ ٌوم 27أغسطس الجارى. وقالت مصادر بالشركة ،إنه من المقرر البدء فً رحالت العودة ٌوم اإلثنٌن الموافق 27أغسطس ،مشٌرا إلى أنه من المتوقع أن ٌتم نقل 70ألف حاج خالل رحالت العودة ،مشٌرا إلى أنه تم تجهٌز األسطول المخصص لنقل الحجاج. وٌذكر أن الشركة نجحت فً تسٌٌر ما ٌزٌد عن 360رحلة إلى جدة والمدٌنة وذلك لنقل حجاج بٌت هللا الحرام خالل موسم الحج وتمكنت من نقل 68ألف حاج بزٌادة 6آالف حاج عن السعة المقعدٌة التً طرحتها.

كتب هانى عثمان -أحمد حمادة نجحت وزارة الطٌران المدنى الٌوم ،الجمعة ،بناء على تكلٌف من الفرٌق ٌونس المصرى ،وزٌر الطٌران المدنى ،فى حل أزمة 300حاج مصرى كانوا قد وصلوا إلى مطار القاهرة حاملٌن تأشٌرات الحج بٌنما لم ٌجد لدٌهم تذاكر طٌران على أى خطوط طٌران. وقالت مصادر بالوزارة إنه فور بمجرد وصول الخبر إلى الوزٌر أجرى عدة اتصاالت وتنسٌق على أعلى مستوى مع السلطات السعوٌة وتم االتفاق على قٌام السلطات السعودٌة بإٌفاد طائرة تابعة للخطوط السعودٌة ستقوم بنقل الحجاج إلى األراضى السعودٌة ألداء المناسك. ومن قام اللواء طٌار أحمد جنٌنة بترتٌب سفر الحجاج المصرٌٌن ،الذى من المنتظر أن ٌغادرون مطار القاهرة الٌوم الجمعة فى تمام الساعة 8مساء من مبنى الركاب رقم . 2 ومن جانبهم أثنى الحجاج المصرٌون على التدخل الفورى للفرٌق ٌونس المصرى وزٌر الطٌران والذى تدخل على الفور لحل أزمتهم وتم تشكٌل فرٌق عمل على أعلى المستوٌات من قٌادات المطار إلنهاء سفر الحجاج المصرٌٌن.

تأخر إقالع 3رحالت دولٌة من مطار القاهرة بسبب أعمال الصٌانة وظروف التشغٌل
كتب هانى عثمان -أحمد حمادة شهد مطار القاهرة الدولى ،الٌوم الجمعة ،تأخر إقالع 3رحالت دولٌة ،عن موعدهم المقرر بجدول التشغٌل ،وظروف التشغٌل والصٌانة. قالت مصادر مالحٌة بالمطار ،إن رحلة الخطوط التركٌة المتجهة إلى إسطنبول رقم ،691 تأخر إقالعها ألكثر من ساعة ،بسبب أعمال الصٌانة ،باإلضافة إلى تأخرت رحلة الخطوط النمساوٌة رقم 866المتجهة إلى فٌنٌا عن موعدها المقرر بجدول التشغٌل. وأشارت المصادر ،إلى تأخر رحلة طٌران نسما المتجهة إلى مدٌنة تبوك السعودٌة رقم 120 بسبب ظروف التشغٌل.

سوٌسرا تطالب شركة طٌران بتحلٌق طائراتها أعلى من الحد األدنى القانونً
أطلقت شركة طٌران سوٌسرٌة (جو إٌر) ،أول رحلة لها الٌوم الجمعة بعد تحطم طائرة، صا ،لكن سلطة الطٌران فً سوٌسرا أمرت الشركة بتحلٌق طائراتها أودى بحٌاة 20شخ ً أعلى من الحد األدنى القانونً. وكانت إحدى طائرتً شركة الخطوط الجوٌة اللتٌن تعودان إلى آواخر الثالثٌنات قد أقلعت من دونبندورف بالقرب من زٌورخ فً طرٌقها إلى بنسهاٌم فً ألمانٌا مساء الجمعة. وتحطمت طائرة (جو اٌر) الثالثة التابعة للشركة قبل أسبوعٌن ،أثناء تحلٌقها فوق قمة بٌز سٌجنز ،مما أسفر عن مقتل جمٌع الركاب الـ 17وأفراد الطاقم الثالثة الذٌن كانوا على متنها. وأبلغت هٌئة الطٌران المدنً شركة (جو-إٌر) خالل األسبوع الجاري ،بأن تحلق طائراتها على مسافة 300متر على األقل فوق األرض المستوٌة فً المستقبل ،أي ضعف المسافة التً تصل إلى 150مترا كحد أدنى. وٌهدف هذا اإلجراء إلعطاء الطٌارٌن فترة من الوقت لمواجهة أى طوارئ إذا ما توقفت الطائرة أثناء تحلٌقها فوق الجبال.

Higher living costs, fees force many Egyptians to drop haj plans Mahmoud Aouni has always wanted to make the haj pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, an important religious duty for all Muslims, but says he might never be able to do so now because of Egypt's economic woes. "They say charity begins at home. In the current economic climate, that's where it stays," said Aouni, a 47-year-old youth ministry worker who like many Egyptians has been forced to put off his plans indefinitely by the rising cost of living. All Muslims are expected to join the annual haj at least once in a lifetime, provided they are physically and financially able. But many Egyptians have been badly hit by soaring prices, especially of fuel and electricity, as the government slashes state subsidies under IMF-backed economic reforms. Even wealthier pilgrims are now finding the journey more difficult after Saudi Arabia and Egypt both imposed additional fees for Muslims repeating the lesser pilgrimage to Mecca, known as the 'umrah', within three years. Unlike the last two years, when all those who signed up for the haj made the journey to Mecca, state news agency MENA quoted Parliamentary Affairs Minister Omar Marwan as saying only 64,000 of Egypt's 80,000 haj quota would now make the pilgrimage - a drop of 20 percent. Last year 80,000 Egyptians went on the haj.

"Plane ticket prices have gone up, and the haj fees here and in Saudi also, so it is those with money who get to go," he said. "But it is in my plans. God willing, I will do the haj when I can get things together."

Ethiopian Airlines confirms bid for Nigeria Air

Lufthansa Technik to Provide A350 APU Support for Two Asian Airlines Lufthansa Technik has been selected by two major Asian airlines for technical support of auxiliary power units (APU) on their A350900 fleets. Both Vietnam Airlines and South Korean carrier Asiana Airlines have signed contracts with the MRO provider for support of Honeywell’s HGT1700 APUs. Asiana Airlines’ 10-year, long-term contract with LHT covers APUs on its planned fleet of 30 A350-900 aircraft. LHT says the services will be provided in the frame of an exclusive time and material agreement. The contract begins this month and LHT says all repairs will be performed at its Hamburg, Germany headquarters. Vietnam Airlines’ exclusive time and material contract with LHT will cover maintenance of HGT1700 APUs on its planned fleet of 14 A350-900s. The airline, which was already operating four of the aircraft, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Airbus for 10 more in September 2016. According to a spokesperson, the fleet currently has 12 A350-900s and will receive the remaining two next year. LHT is Honeywell’s official warranty station and partner for MRO on HGT1700 APUs. Honeywell signed LHT as a licensed component repair center and exclusive global asset provider for the HGT1700 APU (as well as all Honeywell components) on A350 aircraft in November 2017. In-house capability for the APU was established by LHT in 2016. According to LHT, it is continuously collaborating first-hand with OEMs on the improvement of repair processes and related technologies.

Incident: Lufthansa A321 enroute on Aug 17th 2018, cracked windshield Lufthansa Airbus A321-200, registration D-AISK performing flight LH-1162 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Faro (Portugal), was enroute at FL350 about 50nm eastnortheast of Nantes (France) when a windshield cracked. The crew descended the aircraft to FL240 and decided to return to Frankfurt, later climbing the aircraft to FL260. The aircraft landed in Frankfurt about 80 minutes after the decision to return. The airline reported the crew decided to return to Frankfurt after consultation with dispatch. The aircraft could have continued to Faro, however, would have become stuck in Faro after landing. A replacement A321-100 registration D-AIRH reached Faro with a delay of 4.5 hours.

Economists: Malaysia economy slowing down BANK Negara has lowered Malaysia’s economic growth forecast for 2018 to 5% from its earlier estimate of 5.5%-6%. For those in the loop, the move is largely unsurprising. After all, the country’s economy has expanded below the 5.5%level over the last two consecutive quarters. In fact, Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth has been decelerating since the third quarter of 2017, when the economy grew by 6.2% yearon-year (y-o-y). The softer growth, given the fall in government development expenditure in the second quarter and the lacklustre performance of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and crude palm oil, meant that the earlier estimates could not be met. Furthermore, global purchasing manager indices and export volumes have been moderating. In the second quarter of 2018 (2Q18), GDP growth came in at 4.5%, which was below the Bloomberg consensus of 5.2%. In comparison, GDP growth was 5.8% in the corresponding quarter of 2017 and 5.4% in 1Q18. 2 “Growth in the mining sector contracted due mainly to unplanned supply outages, while the agriculture sector was affected by production constraints and adverse weather conditions. “Nevertheless, major economic sectors, notably the services and manufacturing, remained supportive of growth,” says the central bank in a statement. On the demand side, growth was largely supported by the increase in private consumption (8%), private investment (6.1%) and public consumption (3.1%). However, public investments contracted 9.8% y-o-y, which also marks the third consecutive quarter of decline. Bank Negara is working on a mid-term strategic plan, to further sustain the country’s economic growth moving forward. Governor Datuk Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus hints that the plan could include the introduction of new forms of taxes to raise higher revenue for the government. This is mainly to address the shortfall in revenue, following the removal of the goods and services tax (GST). The central bank’s forecast of 5% for the year dismisses any notion of the country slipping into a contraction in the fourth quarter. Despite the moderation in GDP growth, Shamsiah expects the country’s growth to be sustained, supported mainly by private sector activity. Earlier this month, Bank Islam Malaysia chief economist Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid has warned about Malaysia sinking into its first recession in 10 years by end-2018 or next year. Citing the current bond yield curve, Afzanizam believes that the next economic downturn is oncoming and urged the government to cut taxes, aside from easing the monetary policy.

3 A country is considered to be in a technical recession if the economy recorded two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth. The negative growth is calculated by looking at the quarter-on-quarter change in GDP. The last time Malaysia registered a technical recession was in the fourth quarter of 2008 (-3.5%) and the first quarter of 2009 (-7.8%), amid the 2008 recession. Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs senior fellow Carmelo Ferlito also warned about a potential recession, adding that it would be a property market-driven crisis. Concurring with Shamsiah, Malaysian Institute of Economic Research senior research fellow S. Nambiar does not think Malaysia will slip into a recession. However, he indicated that a slowdown in economic expansion is likely. “There are some factors that are not conducive for growth. For example, the switch from the GST to the sales and services tax (SST). This might mean some costs for the small and medium enterprises, aside from the fact that the SST might not bring in the kind of revenue that the GST brought in. “The cut back in projects and infrastructure investments might also mean a reduction in multiplier effects. Besides, some of the contingent liabilities might crystalise into the government’s balance sheets and increase the debt level. “All of these are part of the necessary costs of restructuring the economy,” Nambiar tells StarBizWeek, adding that Malaysia’s economy could grow by 4.8%-5% this year. AmBank Group chief economist Anthony Dass also believes that a slowdown in economic growth will take place, rather than a contraction leading to a recession.

4 “Looking at 2018 full-year GDP outlook, our projection for Malaysia’s GDP is 4.8%-5% while for 2019 is 4.2%-4.4%, on the back of a global growth of 3.7% for 2018 and 3.6% for 2019,” he says. Anthony adds that the possibility of a recession will driven more by “external noises as opposed to domestic issues”. The key threat is a full-blown US-China trade war. “A full-blown trade war added with emerging market debt crisis that becomes contagion may hit household and business sentiments. As a result, it may risk sparking household debt crisis and a strong correction to the property prices, forcing the bubble to burst,” says Anthony. In an earlier report by The Star, Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd chief economist Manokaran Mottain cautioned that the country could fall into a recession within the next two years if the trade war goes fullblown in 2019. In providing support to the slowing economy, Nambiar foresees the government introducing a slew of fiscal measures including new ways to raise tax revenue. “That said, I believe the government will be careful not to throw the burden of the new revenue-raising measures on the bottom 40% population or those earning less than RM4,360 per month. In reviving the industrial and services sectors, I would also expect the government to switch into a more pro-active mode towards the close of the year or starting next year,” he says.

5 In a note, AllianceDBS Research points out that fiscal reforms such as the removal of GST and the standardisation of minimum wage across the country will likely provide favourable domestic demand conditions that will support private consumption growth towards the end of the year. “However, the boost in private consumption growth is likely to be insufficient to keep GDP growth above the 5% level. “The moderation in manufacturing sector’s production and possibly a drop within the construction sector due to the cancellation or postponement of mega projects will keep GDP growth subdued,” says the research house, which lowered its 2018 GDP forecast to 4.8% y-o-y from 5.6% previously.

US lawmaker calls for security review following Sea-Tac plane theft The crash of a stolen Horizon Air Bombardier Q400 turboprop Aug. 10 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) is drawing scrutiny from US lawmakers about aviation security and airport employee screening. In an Aug. 13 letter to the leadership of the Senate Commerce Committee, Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Washington) called on Chairman John Thune (R-South Dakota) and Ranking Member Bill Nelson (DFlorida( to convene a hearing on the incident, writing that it “exposed an issue with our nation’s airport security protocols.” “A hearing would provide the Committee with an important opportunity to hear from the agencies and stakeholders directly involved in airport security,” wrote Cantwell, adding, “The Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security, airlines and airport operators ... all could offer valuable insight to the members of the Committee.” Cantwell also remarked that the fact the incident occurred at SeaTac, which is notable for being one of the few large US airports to require full screening for all employees who work in the sterile area, demonstrates the need “to continually adapt security measures to meet new threats.”
