‫كتب أحمد حمادة‬ ‫قال صفوت مسلم‪ ،‬رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران‪ ،‬إنه من المقرر أن تسٌر الشركة‬ ‫الٌوم‪ ،‬األحد‪ ،‬ثانى أٌام موسم الحج‪ 6 ،‬رحالت جوٌة إلى المدٌنة المنورة لنقل ‪ 1622‬حاجا ً من‬ ‫حجاج قرعة محافظة القلٌوبٌة وحجاج ترانزٌت مالى‪.‬‬

‫هنأ شرٌف فتحً‪ ،‬وزٌر الطٌران المدنً‪ ،‬الحجاج الذٌن ٌؤدون‬ ‫فرٌضة الحج لهم هذا العام‪ ،‬متمن ًٌا لهم حجا مبرورا وذن ًبا مغفورا‪.‬‬ ‫وقال وزٌر الطٌران‪ ،‬فى كلمته بالمؤتمر الصحفى مع وزراء التخطٌط‬ ‫واألوقاف لإلعالن عن خطة موسم الحج الٌوم السبت‪ ،‬إن شركة‬ ‫مصر للطٌران ستتولى نقل ‪ 65‬ألف حاج عبر ‪ 300‬رحلة طٌران‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف أن مصر للطٌران ستنقل ‪ 65‬ألف حاج أمر لٌس بسهل لكن‬ ‫هم على أتم االستعداد بٌه‪ ،‬قائال‪" :‬وفى شركات أخرى ستنقل‪ ،‬وعدد‬ ‫الحجاج ٌتعدى الـ‪ 100‬ألف هذا العام"‪.‬‬

‫محمد سٌد‬ ‫ودع الٌوم األحد‪ ،‬مكتب شركة مصر للطٌران بالعاصمة التنزانٌة دار‬ ‫السالم‪ ،‬أول فوج لحجاج تنزانٌا من مطار دار السالم الدولى‪ ،‬على متن‬ ‫رحلة الرحلة ‪ ،MS842‬والمتجهٌن إلى جدة على الرحلة ‪MS671‬‬ ‫عبر مطار القاهرة الدولى‪ ،‬وعددهم ‪ 50‬حاجا‪.‬‬ ‫وكان فً تودٌع حجاج تنزانٌا كل من عمرو راشد مدٌر مكتب مصر‬ ‫للطٌران بدار السالم‪ ،‬وطارق لبٌب مدٌر المحطة‪ ،‬وخالد عبده المدٌر‬ ‫المالى‪.‬‬

‫كشفت مصادر مسئولة بقطاع البترول والثروة المعدنٌة‪ ،‬عن أن هناك‬ ‫انفراجة ستحدث قرٌ ًبا فى مستحقات الهٌئة العامة للبترول لدى شركة مصر‬ ‫للطٌران‪ ،‬حٌث إن هناك مباحثات تتم حال ًٌا تحت إشراف المهندس شرٌف‬ ‫إسماعٌل رئٌس مجلس الوزراء إلنهاء التشابكات المالٌة بٌنهما‪.‬‬ ‫وقالت المصادر فى تصرٌحات خاصة لـ"الٌوم السابع"‪ ،‬إن مستحقات‬ ‫الهٌئة العامة للبترول تقدر بـ‪ 5.2‬ملٌار جنٌه نظٌر تورٌد شركة مصر‬ ‫للبترول لوقود الطائرات للشركة‪.‬‬ ‫وأضافت المصادر أن االجتماعات ما زالت مستمرة على مستوى الوزارات‬ ‫لترتٌب إنهاء المدٌونٌة وحل المشكلة بنظام طرق محاسبٌة بعٌدًا عن‬ ‫القروض أو إلزام الشركة بالسداد‪.‬‬

‫مفاجأة‪ ..‬نائب‪ :‬خسائر مصر للطٌران بلغت ‪ % 560‬وملف السٌاحة ٌحتاج الرؤٌة والخٌال‬ ‫كتب أحمد الجعفرى‬ ‫قال النائب محمد عبده عضو لجنة السٌاحة بمجلس النواب‪ ،‬إن هناك العدٌد‬ ‫من التحدٌات التى تواجه مصر على المستوى الداخلى والخارجى‪ ،‬فخارجٌا ً‬ ‫مصر مستهدفة من عدة دول تهدف إلى تركٌعها‪ ،‬وتلك الدول تعلم جٌداً أهمٌة‬ ‫السٌاحة بالنسبة لمصر‪ ،‬فالسٌاحة كانت تدر دخالً بالعملة الصعبة ٌصل إلى ما‬ ‫ٌقرب من ‪ 12.5‬ملٌار دوالر سنوٌاً‪ ،‬تقلص االن ولم ٌعد ٌتخطى ‪ 3‬ملٌار‬ ‫دوالر‪.‬‬ ‫وتابع "عبده" فى تصرٌحات لـ"برلمانى"‪ ،‬حوادث اإلرهاب فى سٌناء وشرم‬ ‫الشٌخ أدت إلى هبوط معدالت السٌاحة‪ ،‬فضالً عن ضعف اإلجراءات األمنٌة‬ ‫فى المطارات‪ ،‬ولن تقبل دولة محترمة من دول العالم تشجٌع مواطنٌها على‬ ‫زٌارة مصر إال اذا شعرت أن معدالت األمان فى المطارات عالٌة وتتماشى مع‬ ‫المعدالت العالمٌة‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد "عبده"‪ ،‬أن القائمٌن على قطاع السٌاحة فى مصر لٌسوا على المستوى‬ ‫الالئق‪ ،‬والبد أن ٌتولى ملف السٌاحة فى مصر اناس لدٌهم رؤٌة وخٌال‪ ،‬وال‬ ‫ٌمكن أن ٌسٌر بمجموعة موظفٌن ال ٌملكون‪ ،‬وٌجب أن ٌتم القضاء على‬ ‫الفساد المستشرى فى قطاع السٌاحة‪ ،‬وعلى سبٌل المثال فشركة مصر‬ ‫للطٌران بلغت خسائرها فى سنتٌن ما ٌقرب من ‪ 10‬ملٌار جنٌه‪ ،‬فى الوقت‬ ‫الذى ٌبلغ فٌه رأس مال الشركة ‪ 1.8‬ملٌار جنٌه‪ ،‬وهو ما ٌعنى أن نسبة‬ ‫الخسارة بلغت ‪.% 560‬‬

‫مصر للطٌران تعرض أحدث األفالم والمواد الترفٌهٌة بـ‪ 8‬لغات على طائراتها‬

‫محمد عبدالناصر‬ ‫غادر القاهرة الٌوم وفد من مصر للطٌران برئاسة كرٌم سامى‬ ‫عبدالكرٌم مدٌر عام إدارة البحوث والتطوٌر متوجها إلى بارٌس فى‬ ‫زٌارة لفرنسا تستغرق عدة أٌام ٌلتقى خاللها مع عدد من ممثلى‬ ‫الشركات العالمٌة المتخصصة فى المواد الترفٌهٌة على الطائرات‪.‬‬ ‫وصرحت مصادر مطلعة أن الوفد سٌقوم بمتابعة أحدث األفالم والمواد‬ ‫الترفٌهٌة لالستعانة بأفضلها لعرضها على طائراتمصر‬ ‫للطٌران وترجمتها إلى ‪ 8‬لغات عالمٌة وتوفٌرها على طائرات الشركة‬ ‫المزودة بأحدث وسائل العرض خاصة على الرحالت المتوسط‬ ‫والطوٌلة وتلبٌة كل الرغبات الخاصة بالركاب مع التركٌز على أهم‬ ‫المنتجعات السٌاحٌة والمقاصد األثرٌة فى مصر وعرضها على الركاب‬ ‫خاصة الترانزٌت لجذبهم وحثهم على زٌارة مصر‪.‬‬

‫(‪)1‬‬ ‫‪http://www.shorouknews.com/‬‬ ‫رئٌس «مصر للطٌران» للخدمات األرضٌة‪ :‬عروض من شركات فرنسٌة‬ ‫لتجمٌع الحاوٌات محلٌا‪ ..‬وتعاقد وشٌك مع ‪ 3‬شركات طٌران أجنبٌة‬ ‫كتب ــ ٌوسف مجدى‪:‬‬ ‫• تتفاوض مع شركة أجنبٌة لتقدٌم الخدمات األرضٌة بالمطارات الخارجٌة‬ ‫تخطط شركة مصر للطٌران للخدمات االرضٌة الستغالل كل إمكاناتها المتاحة لزٌادة مواردها المالٌة لتعوٌض‬ ‫تراجع حركة الطٌران‪ ،‬بسبب استمرار قرار فرض حظر الطٌران من جانب دولتى روسٌا وإنجلترا‪ ،‬الذى أدى إلى‬ ‫تعرضها لخسائر فادحة خالل العام المالى الماضى‪.‬‬ ‫وحسب أحمد شاهٌن تلقت مصر للطٌران للخدمات األرضٌة عروضا من شركات فرنسٌة لتنفٌذ مشروع لتجمٌع‬ ‫الحاوٌات بداخل مصنع المعادن التابع للشركة‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد شاهٌن لـ«مال وأعمال ـ الشروق» أن العرض الفرنسى ٌتضمن ضخ استثمارات بمصنع المعادن لتجمٌع‬ ‫الحاوٌات‪ ،‬كذلك التسوٌق لبٌع منتجات مصنع المعادن فى الدول العربٌة واألفرٌقٌة‪.‬‬ ‫وذكر أنه جار الحصول على تراخٌص من سلطة الطٌران المدنى بشأن الموافقة على تجمٌع الحاوٌات بمصنع‬ ‫المعادن‪.‬‬ ‫ولفت شاهٌن إلى أنه ٌستهدف تجمٌع الحاوٌات بمصنع المعادن لتجنب االستٌراد من الخارج لتوفٌر العملة‬ ‫الصعبة التى ٌتم شراء المعدات بها‪.‬‬ ‫الجدٌر بالذكر أن نشاط شركة مصر للطٌران للخدمات األرضٌة بالمطارات ٌتضمن نقل حقائب الركاب من‬ ‫الطائرات إلى داخل الصاالت‪ ،‬عالوة على نقل الركاب من على متن الطائرات إلى داخل الصاالت‪ ،‬وتدٌر الشركة‬ ‫‪ 11‬محطة أرضٌة بالمطارات المحلٌة‪.‬‬ ‫فى ذات السٌاق أكد شاهٌن أنه جار التفاوض مع إحدى الشركات األجنبٌة لتقدٌم الخدمات األرضٌة بداخل أحد‬ ‫المطارات الخارجٌة‪ ،‬وذلك عبر اإلعتماد على خبرة الشركة فى نشاط الخدمات االرضٌة‪.‬‬ ‫ولفت إلى أنه وضع خطه طموح لزٌادة اإلٌرادات خالل السنوات المقبلة من خالل اإلستفادة من كل اإلمكانات‬ ‫المتاحة‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد أنه بدأ بالفعل فى تشغٌل مصنع المعادن بكامل طاقته وذلك لتصنٌع المعدات التى تحتاج لها الشركة لتجنب‬ ‫شرائها من الخارج‪.‬‬ ‫وذكر رئٌس الشركة أنه تم تصنٌع ‪ 15‬عربة دولٌز بمصنع المعادن الذى تستخدم بنقل البضائع‪ ،‬بتكلفه تنخفض‬ ‫بنحو ‪ % 50‬مقارنة بسعر العربات التى كان ٌتم شراؤها من الخارج‪.‬‬ ‫وذكر أن تكلفة تصنٌع محلٌا ‪ 20‬ألف جنٌه بمصنع المعادن مقارنة بـ ‪ 40‬ألف جنٌه التى ٌتم جلبها من الخارج‪.‬‬ ‫وذكر شاهٌن أنه ٌحتاج إلى تصنٌع ‪ 40‬عربة دولٌز خالل العام المالى الحالى بمصنع المعادن‪ ،‬لٌتم استخدامهم‬ ‫بعملٌات التشغٌل‪.‬‬ ‫وٌجدر االشارة إلى أن شركة الخدمات األرضٌة تضم ‪ 5200‬معدة‪.‬‬ ‫على صعٌد متصل لفت إلى أنه تم تصنٌع منصات تستخدم فى صٌانة الطائرات للمرة األولى بمصنع المعادن‪،‬‬ ‫ولكنها تتمتع بمواصفات أفضل من المستوردة‪ ،‬حٌث ٌتم تشغٌلها من خالل موتور‪ ،‬ولٌس ٌدوٌا مثل المستوردة‪.‬‬

‫وذكر أنه تم بٌع ‪ 2‬منصة لشركة الخطوط العراقٌة خالل الشهر الحالى‪ ،‬مما ٌدل على جودة المنتج المحلى‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف أن شركته تلقت عرضا آخر من «مصر للطٌران للصٌانة» إحدى الشركات الشقٌقة التابعة للقابضة‬ ‫لمصر للطٌران ٌتضمن شراء منصات أخرى من منتجات مصنع المعادن‪.‬‬ ‫كما أكد أن جار دراسة تصنٌع العربات التى تقدم األطعمة على طائرات مصر للطٌران بداخل المصنع‪ ،‬لتوفٌر‬ ‫أحتٌاجات شركة مصر للطٌران للخدمات الجوٌة من تلك العربات‪.‬‬ ‫فى ذات السٌاق أكد أن شركته تمتلك ورشا فنٌة قادرة على تقدٌم الدعم الفنى لكل المعدات التابعة لشركات‬ ‫الطٌران‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف أن الورش قادرة على تقدٌم صٌانة للسٌارات التابعة لشركات الطٌران العامله بمطار القاهرة‪.‬‬ ‫وذكر أن شركته تستهدف التعاقد مع أحد توكٌالت السٌارات‪ ،‬لتنفٌذ صٌانة لسٌارتهم بداخل مطار القاهرة‪.‬‬ ‫ولفت إلى أن شركته تمتلك محطة وقود بمطار القاهرة تستخدم فى تموٌن طائرات مصر للطٌران‪ ،‬ولكن‬ ‫الشركة تدرس فتحها لتموٌن كل طائرات الشركات التى تعمل بمطار القاهرة‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد رئٌس الشركة أنه ٌستهدف تنوٌع مصارد اإلٌرادات لتجنب التعرض لخسائر مجددة خالل السنوات‬ ‫المقبلة‪.‬‬ ‫على صعٌد متصل لفت إلى أنه من المقرر التعاقد مع ‪ 3‬شركات طٌران جدٌدة خالل شهر سبمتبر المقبل من‬ ‫دول ألمانٌا وأنجلترا وأكرونٌا بشأن خدمة رحالتهم بداخل المطارات المحلٌة‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد بهدف تعوٌض التراجع الحاد بعدد رحالت الطٌران الذى تخدمها الشركة بالمطارات المحلٌة‪ ،‬بعد أن‬ ‫شهدت تراجعا بنحو ‪ % 50‬منذ حادث سقوط الطائرة الروسٌة بمطار شرم الشٌخ نهاٌة أكتوبر الماضى‪.‬‬ ‫وذكر أن شركته تخدم نحو ‪ 2000‬رحله طٌران حالٌا من أصل ‪ 4000‬رحلة‪ ،‬كانت تخدمها قبل تراجع حركة‬ ‫الطٌران‪ ،‬وذلك أدى إلى تكبد شركته خسائر تخطت ‪ 100‬ملٌون جنٌه خالل العام المالى الماضى بسبب تراجع‬ ‫رحالت الطٌران‪.‬‬ ‫وأرجع سبب تراجع الحركة إلى استمرار فرض حظر رحالت الطٌران من قبل دولتى روسٌا وانجلترا‬ ‫للمطارات المحلٌة‪.‬‬ ‫وذكر شاهٌن أن شركات الطٌران الروسٌة كانت تستحوذ على حصة ‪ % 30‬من الرحالت التى كانت تخدمها‬ ‫شركة مصر للطٌران بالمطارات المحلٌة‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد أن حركة الطٌران على سبٌل المثال تراجعت بنحو ‪ % 50‬بمطارى الغردقة وشرم الشٌخ منذ حادث‬ ‫سقوط الطائرة الروسٌة‪ ،‬بٌنما حركه الطٌران بمطارات القاهرة وبرج العرب وسوهاج تأثرت بشكل طفٌف‪.‬‬ ‫وذكر شاهٌن أن شركته كانت تمتلك تعاقدات مع ‪ 180‬شركة طٌران محلٌة وأجنبٌة قبل تجمٌد التعاقدات مع‬ ‫كل شركات الطٌران الروسٌة واالنجلٌزٌة‪.‬‬ ‫وٌتفاءل شاهٌن برفع حظر سفر شركات الطٌران الروسٌة واألجنبٌة خالل الفترة المقلبة‪ ،‬بهدف تعافى‬ ‫الشركة من الخسائر الذى تعرضت لها‪.‬‬

)1( www.fool.sg 1 Important Investing Formula Investors Should See For Singapore Airlines Ltd Over its past five fiscal years, Singapore‘s flagship carrier, Singapore Airlines Ltd (SGX: C6L)has generated a return on equity (ROE) in the low single digits, as you can observe in the chart below:

)2( www.fool.sg The company‘s ROE has historically hovered only around 3% – that‘s among the lowest ROEs for the 30 stocks that make up the Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI). But, the metric did climb to 6% in the fiscal year ended 31 March 2016 (FY2016).

The return on equity )ROE( metric measures a company‘s ability to generate a profit with the shareholders‘ capital it has.

Generally speaking, a high ROE is preferred over a low one, all things being equal.

But, it is also important to breakdown the ROE into greater detail to see just why a company‘s performance is the way it is. The breakdown is given in the formula below:

ROE = Profit Margin x Asset Turnover x Equity Multiplier Some of you may recognise this formula as the DuPont Analysis. The DuPont Corporation created it nearly a century ago in the 1920s to measure its own internal efficiency.

Let‘s see what the DuPont analysis can tell us about Singapore Airlines‘ ROE:

For the timeframe under study, the airline‘s profit margin mirrored the trend in its ROE, stagnating between 2.6% and 2.9% until FY2016 when it more than doubled to 5.6%. Much of this improvement in the profit margin is attributable to lower oil prices. Fuel costs accounted for a whopping 37% of total operating expenses in FY2015, hence the fall in oil prices benefitted Singapore Airlines‘ bottom-line in FY2016.

The second component of the DuPont analysis, the asset turnover, is a measure of how good Singapore Airlines is at utilizing its assets to generate revenue. It is calculated by dividing the company‘s revenue with its assets. Generally, a higher asset turnover translates to a better performance.

Because Singapore Airlines is in an asset intensive business, the asset turnover is a useful metric to measure how well the company utilizes its fleet of aircrafts and spare parts. From the chart above, Singapore Airlines has generated a pretty consistent asset turnover over its last five fiscal years, although the number has showed a slight sign of decline, from 0.67 in FY2012 to 0.64 in FY2016.

The last component of the DuPont formula is the equity multiplier and it is found by dividing a company‘s assets with its equity. It is a gauge for how much leverage – and thus financial risk – Singapore Airlines is taking on.

The airline‘s equity multiplier has been creeping up slightly, from 1.67 in FY2012 to 1.8 in FY2016. This contributed to the spike in Singapore Airlines‘ ROE that was seen in FY2016.

A Fool‘s take To sum up what the DuPont formula has showed us, Singapore Airlines had been a beneficiary of lower fuel costs in FY2016. Higher leverage also played a part in the higher ROE, but the main contributor was the spike in the profit margin.

It should be noted that more work needs to be done beyond the DuPont analysis before any firm investing conclusion can be made on Singapore Airlines. This look at the company‘s ROE should only be seen as a useful starting point for further research.

A powerful typhoon was on course for a direct hit on Tokyo on Monday, with nearly 400 flights grounded due to heavy rain and strong winds.

The storm caused airlines across the country to cancel a total of 387 flights, mostly to and from Tokyo‘s Haneda airport, national broadcaster NHK said.

Japan Airlines said it cancelled 145 domestic flights through midafternoon, affecting 26,910 customers, while All Nippon Airways cancelled 96 domestic flights, affecting 21,300 passengers.

Major train services in Tokyo and its surrounding region operated normally during the morning commuting hours, including super fast bullet trains, according to East Japan Railway, the region‘s biggest railway operator.

Separately, typhoon Kompasu, which hit Japan‘s northern main island of Hokkaido yesterday, had been downgraded to a temperate depression by early today and moved away into the Sea of Okhotsk, according to the weather agency.

Heavy rains since Saturday caused high waves and rivers to flood in Hokkaido, but caused only three minor injuries.

International benchmark Brent crude oil futures were trading at $50.43 per barrel at 0025 GMT, down 45 cents, or 0.88 percent.

Analysts cast doubt on a recent oil price rally, saying that much of it was a result of short-covering and anticipation of upcoming oil producer talks in September to discuss means to curb ballooning oversupply.

With no fundamental tightening of the market in sight, they said that prices would likely come under downward pressure again soon.

"Positioning data seems to confirm our view that the latest oil bounce is more technical and positioning-oriented than fundamental. In fact, new buyers have been mostly absent the past few months," U.S. bank Morgan Stanley said.

Regarding the upcoming producer talks, the bank said that it viewed a meaningful "agreement as highly unlikely" and that there were "too many headwinds and logistical challenges to a meaningful deal".

Members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and other oil producers like Russia are set to meet in September to discuss a freeze in output levels or even a cutback in order to rein in on oversupply, but analysts said animosity between OPEC-members Saudi Arabia and Iran made a deal unlikely.

"Though Iran now sits roughly 200,000 barrels per day away from its monthly pre-sanctions peak in May 2011, we do not see it accepting restraints on its output, and without Iran's inclusion, Saudi Arabia will not take part," Barclays bank said.

As a result, the British bank said that "the stars remain misaligned for an OPEC/non-OPEC freeze agreement".

Because of the ongoing production and storage overhang in crude and refined products markets, Barclays said that the 20-percent price rally since early August was unwarranted, and that oil prices of $50 or higher were currently "unsustainable".

"Oil prices will likely experience another short-term dip in the coming weeks, in our view, before more sustainably moving to average $50 in Q4," it added. Reuters

As the official search for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 nears its apparent end, after a two-year, $122 million effort combing the ocean floor in a remote 46,000 square mile stretch of the southern Indian Ocean has turned up nothing, an independent, self-financed investigator, Blaine Alan Gibson, says that sightings of the runaway Boeing 777-200 over the tiny island nation of Maldives, previously dismissed as mistaken, may have actually been real.

If the sightings by multiple witnesses in the early morning hours of March 8, 2014 — the day the Malaysia Airlines plane carrying 239 passengers and crew cut off all communication and vanished — were authentic after all, the final location of Flight MH370, as well as the prevailing theory as to why the plane went missing in the first place, would need to be completely reevaluated.

Gibson, a lawyer turned world traveler from Seattle, Washington, discovered several pieces of aircraft debris on beaches in Mozambique and Mauritius, in the western Indian Ocean off the coast of southeast Africa, earlier this year. The debris, authorities have determined, is ―highly likely‖ to have come from Flight MH370.

Officials looked into the sighting, but dismissed the residents‘ accounts, saying they had either seen a regularly scheduled, propeller-powered tourist plane, a private jet, or nothing at all.

That location would be roughly 3,000 miles by air from the sightings in Maldives — too far for Flight MH370 to make it without running out of fuel.

In fact, according to the August 12 Blaine Gibson report, the Malaysia Airlines plane would have been ―nearing fuel exhaustion‖ by the time it reached Maldives — meaning that if the sightings there are authentic, the wreckage of the plane lies hundreds, even thousands of miles north of the current, official search site.

Gibson traveled to Maldives and re-interviewed numerous eyewitnesses who reported sighting the plane that day, and he came away believing that their reports were credible.

And even more startling, the witnesses say they saw the Boeing 777 take a hard turn to the south — which would indicate that someone, whether the pilot, a hijacker or another person, was at the controls.

Gibson as well as the official investigators have previously held to the belief that the Malaysia Airlines plane was a ―ghost flight,‖ operating on automatic pilot after the passengers and crew were incapacitated by some on-board calamity, such as a fire or rapid, accidental cabin decompression.

A professional committee will be on board the flight to assess security measures to consider the resumption of suspended direct flights, according to the spokesperson for the Duma‘s committee on transport. The date of the flight has not yet been announced.

Citing the spokesperson, Russian news agency Sputnik said that this trial flight could lift the ban on direct flights to Egypt, and this is why it will be heading to Cairo‘s airport.

Russian transportation minister said on Saturday that the suspended flights will not be resumed to all of Egypt‘s airports, but rather just to those that have imposed sufficient security measures.

A Russian delegation is set to visit Egypt at the end of August in order to assess the security measures undertaken by Egyptian authorities at airports. Two Russian delegations have already visited Egypt this month.

The first delegation reviewed security measures in hotels and resorts in cities along the Red Sea, and the other followed up on investigations into the downing of the Russian aeroplane in Sinai in October 2015.

At the end of the Russian delegation‘s visit, they are expected to issue a report that will include Russia‘s decision as to whether the ban on direct flights from Russia to Egypt will be lifted.

In October 2015, a Russian aeroplane crashed shortly after it took off from Sharm El-Sheikh‘s airport. All 224 passengers and crew on board were killed in the crash.

Russia suspended its direct flights to Egypt in light of the crash, and the United Kingdom and Germany also suspended their flights.

Tourism to Egypt has significantly declined following the 25 January Revolution amid ongoing political turmoil. However, the rate declined even further since the aeroplane crash, for which Islamic State claimed responsibility.

Parliamentary speaker Ali Abdul Aal visited Russia in July to urge authorities to resume direct flights, stressing that 85% of the security measures demanded by Russia have been implemented in Egypt‘s airports.

Russia, however, says that the desired security level has not yet been achieved.

According to Lufthansa, the Boeing aircraft was diverted due to a medical emergency.

Airline operators in Nigeria have been groaning over the high cost of aviation fuel which jumped from N105 in March to N200 in Lagos and about N240 outside Lagos State which is the operational hub of all the airlines.

It was learnt that aviation fuel is sold at between N110 and N120 in Ghana. Sources said many foreign airlines in Nigeria are feeling the heat prompting them to consider re-fueling from Accra and deserting Abuja, the nation‘s capital. ―The implication of this is that they refuel in Accra and only come to Abuja to pick their passengers to their destinations‖, he said.

Capt. Nogie Meggison, the Chairman of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), also confirmed the development to Daily Trust. He said it is a huge loss of revenue to Nigeria from the charges paid by the airlines as well as the hotel bills for their crew. All of these are now transferred to Ghana, he noted.

However, Regional Manager of British Airways, Mr. Kola Olayinka, in a chat with Daily Trust said Nigeria still remained BA‘s operational hub. ―British Airways flights go from Abuja to London direct and Lagos to London direct‖, he said.
