شهد مطار القاهرة تأخر إقالع طائرة مصر للطٌران المتجهة إلى العاصمة األردنٌة عمان ،وذلك بسبب سوء األحوال الجوٌة فى مطار عمان . وقال مصدر مالحى ،أن الرحلة كان من المقرر لها اإلقالع فى تمام الساعة 6.45من صباح الٌوم الثالثاء ،ولكنها تلقت إخطارا بسوء األحوال الجوٌة فى مطار عمان الدولى ،مما تسبب فى تأخر إقالعها لما ٌقرب من 3 ساعات . . وأضاف المصدر ،أن الرحلة أقلعت فى منذ قلٌل وذلك بعد التأكد من تحسن األحوال الجوٌة.

EgyptAir increases price of locally purchased tickets for flights taking off abroad
EgyptAir has increased its prices for tickets purchased from Egypt for flights taking off from abroad by 10-20 percent, a source at the airline told Ahram Arabic news website. The aim of the price change is to increase the flow of foreign currency into the country, as many Egyptians prefer purchasing tickets for their relatives abroad. The new price increase also aims to limit the ―exploitation‖ of tourism companies and individuals who buy the ticket in Egypt using local currency and collecting its price in dollars to benefit from the exchange rates. Egypt has been suffering a dollar shortage in recent years. The Egyptian pound was devalued in March by 13 percent in an effort to close the gap between the official and black market rates, but the move has failed to boost dollar liquidity or close the gap.

British Airways flight makes emergency landing after crew fall ill A transatlantic British Airways flight from San Francisco to London made an emergency landing in Vancouver after crew members fell ill. All 25 staff, including the three pilots, were taken to hospital for medical checks after landing, a BA spokeswoman said, adding all personnel had been discharged. Two passengers were given a medical exam on board and found to be healthy. A BA spokesman said no passengers had felt unwell, so there was no need to take them to hospital. He described the staff checkups as a precaution. The airline declined to comment on the nature of the symptoms that forced flight BA286 to be diverted on Monday night. Laura Kohli, spokeswoman for Vancouver Coastal Health, said crew members had been assessed for smoke inhalation, adding: ―I can confirm we had a total of 25 crew members that were transported to local area hospitals as a precaution.‖ The plane, an Airbus A380, took off from San Francisco on Monday evening heading east, but changed course two hours into the flight to head towards Vancouver, tracking site Flightradar shows. Hundreds of passengers were stranded at Vancouver International Airport today, scrambling for flights after their British Airways plane to London made an emergency landing late Monday night. We know that 22 cabin crew and three pilots from the plane went to hospitals in the Vancouver area and were released shortly after. And that's about where the official information stops. British Airways is investigating, the airport hasn't commented, and neither has the union representing flight attendants, which says it's still trying to figure out what happened. Accounts from the passengers give some clues, and even more speculation. Here are five questions about the emergency landing of Flight 286. 1. What happened on that plane? Passengers told CBC News that things seemed normal on Flight 286 until a couple of hours after takeoff. Then, as dinner was being served, an announcement came from the captain. "The captain came on and said there was some minor technical difficulties and we were diverting to Calgary instead of London," recalls passenger Jaakko Virtanan. "I didn't smell any smoke.‌ I just smelled the roast beef or whatever that I didn't get, because they stopped serving dinner at that point."

Then, another announcement: someone was sick, and they'd land in Vancouver. Making an emergency landing with such a big plane suggests a major problem, according to a retired pilot and former Transport Canada flight safety officer. "Something serious was happening," said Jock Williams. "You don't turn around an Airbus A380 … without thinking long and hard about it. 2. How many people got sick? The airline has said 25 crew members went to hospital — as a precaution — but it's not clear how many were actually ill. An initial statement said "a crew member required medical attention," but by Tuesday afternoon the company said "several crew members reported feeling unwell." "When we landed, the crew came and got their luggage and left immediately, and we're all sitting there looking around," said passenger Don Blaser, irritated that customers were left on the plane. 3. Was there a problem with smoke? Health officials initially said crew were being treated for smoke inhalation, but later said it was unclear what made people feel unwell. One passenger told CBC News that rescue personnel came on the plane wearing "gas masks" or some kind of respirator, but that he didn't smell smoke. Another passenger, Stefan Orberg, wondered if there was something in the air. "The [flight] attendants asked me, did you feel anything in your eyes? I thought, well, maybe I had." A number of technical problems can lead to smoke or air problems on the plane, said Williams, but the air conditioning system would be shared by the whole plane — not just a few crew members. Alternatively, a malfunction in the cockpit could affect just the cockpit crew, said Williams. But we don't know which crew felt unwell, or whether air quality had anything to do with it.

4. Why didn't the plane land in Calgary? The passengers were initially told they'd land in Calgary, but actually touched down over the Rockies in Vancouver. Some speculated that the size of the A380 — the largest commercial passenger jet in the world — meant it couldn't land at Calgary International, but the airport said it is "designed for and capable of accommodating A380 aircraft." It's possible, said Williams, that burning more fuel en route to Vancouver made the landing easier. "This airplane is too big and too heavy to land right down underneath us … but by the time we get to Vancouver … we'll be down to landing weight and that's a good move to make," said Williams. The airline hasn't commented on why the plane landed in Vancouver. 5. Did anything happen on the plane? With details so vague and conflicting, it can be tempting to wonder whether anything actually happened to make one or several people "unwell." Passengers seated on the lower deck told CBC News they heard the problem was on the upper deck, where as those seated above said the problem was below. So-called "mass hysteria" does happen, including on a Vancouver bus in 2004, where a suspected poisoning — from what turned out to be harmless plant material — left passengers and paramedics ill. Williams, however, thinks that's unlikely with crew trained to handle emergency situations. "The kind of people that are flight crew, cabin crew, they're not the type who normally … go crazy when they see someone else feeling badly."

Subsidized Gulf Airlines Continue To Dump Seats In The U.S.
Earlier this month, two of the three massively subsidized, stateowned Gulf airlines announced additional flights to and from the United States. Emirates said it will begin daily nonstops from Fort Lauderdale to Dubai on December 15, and Etihad said it will more than double nonstops between Dallas/Fort Worth and Abu Dhabi, from three per week to seven, beginning February 2017. In two years, Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways will have increased seat capacity to and from the U.S. by 42 percent, a staggering number that is not the result of market growth, but the fairy-tale economics of state subsidy. According to the airline database Official Airline Guide (OAG), in Dallas/Fort Worth alone the three Gulf carriers will flood nearly 2,000 seats per day (in both directions) by early next year. In manufacturing industries, this practice is called dumping, and often results in legal action against offending nations at the World Trade Organization. But there’s no WTO for the airline industry. For more than 18 months, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and their union partners have been explaining to U.S. officials and others the clear evidence that the government owners of Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways have long provided huge amounts of cash, in violation of the Open Skies agreements between the U.S. and both the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar. Open Skies agreements are the legal pacts that allow their airlines unlimited access to the U.S. market, the largest in the world.

Since 2004, proven subsidies to the Gulf trio have totaled almost $50 billion, and have enabled them to expand without the normal commercial realities by which U.S. airlines must abide. A longtime U.S. airline planner has characterized Gulf carriers’ route-planning decisions as ―Whoa, next week, Airbus will deliver another new A380. We have to find a place to fly it.‖ As I explained in a 2015 article in Forbes, to understand Gulf carrier expansion you need to understand basic airline geography. After beginning its Fort Lauderdale flights in December, Emirates, together with Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways, will fly nonstop from 13 U.S. cities to their megahubs in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha. But local demand for these nonstop flights, such as Fort Lauderdale-Dubai, is relatively small because the respective populations of the Gulf airlines’ hubs are small - respectively, 2.3 million, 2.1 million and 900,000. Thus, local traffic does not drive this massive expansion. Instead, the three Gulf mega-carriers have used their subsidies to leverage their strategic geographical location in the Gulf to capture the market for connecting traffic from the U.S., Europe, South America and many other regions in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand. As these carriers often remind us, about 60 percent of the world’s population lives within six flying hours of the Gulf. Their strategy is all about connecting passengers. What does subsidy-driven overcapacity do? It allows the airlines to operate without concerns over turning a profit. If investors own the airline, as is the case with U.S. airlines, losing pots of money matters greatly. If you’re subsidized, it doesn’t matter. The result is a distorted playing field that gives the Gulf carriers a competitive advantage over U.S. carriers, and we are already seeing the damage that this is inflicting on the U.S. aviation industry as a whole. In the past year, both United and Delta have canceled their U.S.-Dubai flights. Prior to that, American Airlines and Delta both withdrew from the enormous India market because they could not operate profitably in the face of massively subsidized competition via the Gulf. Unfair Gulf competition also affects the alliances between U.S. airlines and their European partners. For example, an Indian engineer from Silicon Valley returning to visit her parents used to fly United from San Francisco to Frankfurt, then United’s Star Alliance partner Lufthansa to Bengaluru, but she now flies Emirates subsidized service San Francisco-Dubai-Bengaluru. And there is follow-on impact: declines in international flying affect the U.S. domestic network. More than half of passengers on a typical American, Delta or United overseas flight make a connection from or to a domestic flight. So as the international network is squeezed by unfair competition, the domestic network will shrink, too. The impact will be large and damaging because network decline is exponential and not linear - if a U.S. carrier shrinks from 10 long-haul international flights to seven, the result is an overall network decrease much greater than 30%, Small and medium-sized U.S. cities, already worried about reduced service, should be even more concerned. I’ve been tracking the Gulf subsidy issue for several years, and as a longtime U.S. airline employee I wince at the suggestion from self-styled ―thought leaders‖ that American, Delta and United are being ―protectionist.‖ U.S. airlines and their workers seek no protection, but a level playing field across the world. Right now the Open Skies agreements are solely benefiting the Gulf carriers, to the detriment of the U.S. airlines and their workers. It’s time for the U.S. government to enforce its agreements and stand up for the U.S. aviation industry.

The agreement gives Lufthansa’s BoardConnect service the ability to present information and offers to passengers based on their browsing behaviour and profile. The process behind it uses Epteca’s bank of retail brands to ensure that any marketing material is only served when it is relevant to the passenger on-board. BoardConnect was launched in 2013 as a way for the airline to connect with passengers throughout their experience with the main airline and its subsidiary and partner carriers. The new addition will, for example, have a ―forgotten anything?‖ area on the app that would allow a passenger to order an umbrella if they see that the weather forecast in the destination is poor and they have forgotten their item. The umbrella would then be delivered to the passenger on arrival at their destination airport. The third Heathrow runway was chosen as the best of three potential solutions. The other options were extending Heathrow’s northern runway )Heathrow Hub(, or adding a runway at London’s Gatwick Airport. The decision has been pending since the Airports Commission released its conclusions in 2015. ―There were three very good options on the table, but we believe a third runway for Heathrow is the best option for our future,‖ UK transport secretary Chris Grayling said. ―I know this will be a disappointment to [Gatwick], but Gatwick remains a really important part of our transport system and will continue being so.‖ Heathrow said the runway allows for up to 40 more long-haul destinations, as well as improved domestic connectivity, when it opens in 2025. However, Gatwick remains unconvinced that the complex and costly Heathrow expansion is deliverable and remains ready to step in. ―We are ready to deliver within 10 years of being given the green light,‖ a Gatwick spokesman told ATW. The Oct. 25 selection is not the end of the process. The third runway must still be put to a government vote, which is not expected until winter 2017-18. After that, it will be subject to a full consultation and the normal planning processes, with a high likelihood of further challenges. ―There are still serious issues that need to be addressed and there is still a long way to go,‖ International Airlines Group )IAG( CEO Willie Walsh said. IAG, which is the parent of British Airways (BA), has voiced concerns over potential fee increases to cover the expansion costs. Business representatives and pilot unions welcomed the long-overdue decision, but environmentalists have said they will challenge the third runway plan. Around 800 homes will be demolished to pave the way for the runway and some local residents have said they will refuse to move. Others, such as Irish low-cost carrier (LCC) Ryanair, say the government has not gone far enough. ―The government finally made half a decision, but unfortunately they made the wrong decision,‖ Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary said, arguing the government should approve three new runways—at London’s Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports—and let the market decide.
