‫أعلنت الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران‪ ،‬عن وصول ‪ 8300‬حاج إلى‬ ‫مطار القاهرة الدولى على متن ‪ 43‬رحلة جوٌة عقب أداء مناسك‬ ‫الحج‪.‬‬ ‫وجدٌر بالذكر‪ ،‬أن اللواء أحمد جنٌة‪ ،‬رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر‬ ‫للطٌران‪ ،‬والمهندس أحمد فوزى‪ ،‬رئٌس شركة مٌناء القاهرة‬ ‫الجوى‪ ،‬والطٌار أحمد عادل رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران‪،‬‬ ‫كانوا فى مقدمة المستقبلٌن للحجاج لدى وصولهم للمطار‪.‬‬ ‫كما تم تشكٌل فرق من العالقات العامة الستقبال الحجاج لدى‬ ‫وصولهم المطار‪ ،‬وتم إنهاء إجراءات وصولهم عبر الصالة‬ ‫الموسمٌة بالمطار‪.‬‬

‫قال الطٌار أحمد عادل رئٌس مجلس إدارة الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران‪،‬‬ ‫إنه من المقرر أن ٌبدأ الٌوم اإلثنٌن‪ ،‬عودة حجاج التضامن االجتماعى‪ ،‬كما‬ ‫تبدأ مصر للطٌران فى تسٌ​ٌر جسرها الجوى‬ ‫لعودة حجاج باماكو بدولة مالى‪ ،‬وفٌما ٌتعلق بحجاج دولة فلسطٌن فإنه من‬ ‫اعتبارا‬ ‫المقرر أن تقوم الشركة بتسٌ​ٌر رحالتها الجوٌة لعودتهم‬ ‫ً‬ ‫من ٌوم الخمٌس المقبل الموافق ‪ 30‬أغسطس الجارى‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف عادل فى تصرٌحات صحفٌة‪ٌ :‬صل إلى مطار القاهرة الٌوم اإلثنٌن‬ ‫حاجا من حجاج التضامن وغٌرهم‬ ‫‪ 14‬رحلة جوٌة لعودة ‪ً 2700‬‬ ‫من حجاح المؤسسات والهٌئات‪ ،‬وباإلضافة إلى حجاج شركات‬ ‫السٌاحة والترانزٌت ورحلة خاصة لعودة حجاج دولة مالى‪.‬‬ ‫وتابع عادل‪" :‬أما عن غد الثالثاء تسٌر الشركة ‪14‬‬ ‫حاجا من حجاج القرعة‬ ‫رحلة جوٌة من مطار جدة لنقل ‪ً 2400‬‬ ‫والتضامن‪ ،‬كما تس ٌّر رحلة خاصة لعودة حجاج دولة مالى‪ ،‬باإلضافة‬ ‫إلى حجاج شركات السٌاحة والهٌئات والمؤسسات‪،‬‬ ‫فضالً عن حجاج الترانزٌت‪.‬‬ ‫وٌذكر أن مصر للطٌران قد نقلت حتى أمس األحد‪5600 ،‬‬ ‫حاجا إلى أرض الوطن على متن ‪ 29‬رحلة جوٌة‪.‬‬ ‫ً‬

‫قال الطٌار أحمد عادل‪ ،‬رئٌس مجلس إدارة الشركة القابضة‬ ‫لمصر للطٌران‪ ،‬إن الشركة ستسٌر رحالت جوٌة لعودة الحجاج‬ ‫الفلسطٌنٌ​ٌن اعتباراً من ٌوم الخمٌس المقبل الموافق ‪30‬‬ ‫أغسطس‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف رئٌس القابضة لمصر للطٌران‪ ،‬فً تصرٌحات صحفٌة‬ ‫له الٌوم‪ ،‬أن الشركة بدأت الٌوم فً نقل حجاج وزارة التضامن‬ ‫االجتماعً إلى أرض الوطن‪ ،‬بعد أداء الشعائر المقدسة ولفت‬ ‫إلى أن الشركة ستسٌر جسراً جوٌا ً لعودة حجاج بأماكو بدولة‬ ‫مالً‪.‬‬

‫‪www.youm7.com‬‬ ‫وزارة الطٌران تنهً استعدادات المطارات المصرٌة الستقبال ‪ 100‬ألف حاج‬ ‫كتب هانى عثمان _ محمود عبد الغنى‬ ‫أنهت وزارة الطٌران المدنً وهٌئاتها وشركاتها التابعة كافة استعداداتها الستقبال المطارات‬ ‫المصرٌة رحالت عودة حجاج بٌت هللا الحرام من األراضً المقدسة حٌث بدأ تسٌ​ٌر جسر جوي‬ ‫لعودة ما ٌقرب من ‪ 100‬ألف حاج من الحجاج المصرٌ​ٌن من مطاري جدة والمدٌنة المنورة إلى‬ ‫المطارات المصرٌة مباشرة وهى القاهرة وبرج العرب واألقصر وأسوان وحجاج الترانزٌت‬ ‫القادمٌن من مختلف أنحاء العالم إلً األراضً المقدسة عبر مطار القاهرة الدولً‪ ،‬من بٌنهم حجاج‬ ‫دولتً مالً وفلسطٌن الذٌن تقلهم مصر للطٌران‬ ‫وفً السٌاق ذاته قام الفرٌق ٌونس المصري وزٌر الطٌران المدنً بعمل عدة اجتماعات موسعة مع‬ ‫كافة الجهات المعنٌة بتنظٌم موسم الحج‪ ،‬وأشاد بالتنسٌق الجٌد والتعاون المثمر مع كافة الوزارات‬ ‫القائمة على تنظٌم الحج وهى وزارة الداخلٌة والتضامن اإلجتماعً والسٌاحة واألوقاف والصحة‬ ‫والمالٌة وغٌرها وكذلك التعاون المشترك مع السلطات السعودٌة لتذلٌل كافة العقبات أمام الحجاج‬ ‫وإنهاء إجراءات سفرهم من المطارات السعودٌة فى سهولة وٌسر تام‪.‬‬ ‫وقام الفرٌق ٌونس المصري بجواالت مٌدانٌة فً الصاالت المخصصة لعودة ضٌوف الرحمن‬ ‫لإلطمئنان علً جاهزٌتها الستقبال رحالت العودة وتالفً حدوث أي مشكالت خاصة أن هذه الفترة‬ ‫تشهد كثافة تشغٌل فً المطارات المصرٌة ‪.‬‬ ‫كما تفقد المصري تجهٌزات الخٌمة المكٌفة الجدٌدة التً تم إعدادها خارج مبنى الرحالت الموسمٌة‬ ‫بمطار القاهرة أمام صالتً السفر والوصول الستقبال أسر الحجاج وذوٌهم‪ ،‬ووجه بتقدٌم كافة‬ ‫التسهٌالت وسرعة إنهاء إجراءات وصول الحجاج‪ ،‬وأشاد بوجود ضباط جوازات علً بعض‬ ‫رحالت العودة ذات الطراز العرٌض إلنهاء اإلجراءات علً متن الطائرات وهو ما ٌمنع التكدس‬ ‫واالزدحام فً صاالت الوصول‪.‬‬ ‫ووافق الفرٌق ٌونس المصري على طلب الدكتورة هالة زاٌد وزٌرة الصحة والسكان بزٌادة أعداد‬ ‫أطباء الحجر الصحً على متن طائرات مصر للطٌران إلنهاء اإلجراءات الوقائٌة وتقدٌم التأمٌن‬ ‫الطبً الكامل للحجاج القادمٌن‪.‬‬ ‫ودعا وزٌر الطٌران جمٌع القٌادات والعاملٌن بالوزارة وشركاتها التابعة لرفع درجات االستعداد‬ ‫للتعامل مع كافة المواقف والحاالت الطارئة وشدد علً ضرورة االهتمام وتقدٌم أفضل الرعاٌة‬ ‫لكبار السن والمرضً ذوي االحتٌاجات الخاصة‪.‬‬ ‫جدٌر بالذكر أن مطار القاهرة استقبل أولى رحالت الجسر الجوي للشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران‪،‬‬ ‫باحتفالٌة أمام صالة الوصول بمبنى الرحالت الموسمٌة احتفاال وابتهاجا بعودة ضٌوف الرحمن من‬ ‫األراضً المقدسة‪.‬‬

‫شهد مطار القاهرة الدولً‪ ،‬صباح الٌوم اإلثنٌن‪ ،‬تأخر معظم الرحالت‬ ‫المتجهة إلى مدٌنة جدة ‪ ،‬بسبب ظروف تشغٌل الرحالت وتكدسات موسم‬ ‫العودة للحجاج من مطار الملك عبدالعزٌز الدولً‪.‬‬ ‫قالت مصادر مالحٌة بالمطار‪ ،‬إن هناك تأخر فً إقالع ‪ 5‬رحالت متجهة‬ ‫إلى مدٌنة جدة‪ ،‬ورحلة أخرى متجهة إلى مدٌنة الطائف السعودٌة‪ ،‬وذلك‬ ‫بسبب تكدسات موسم عودة الحجاج‪ ،‬باإلضافة إلى أعمال الصٌانة على‬ ‫بعض الرحالت‪.‬‬ ‫وأوضحت المصادر‪ ،‬أن الرحالت الخطوط السعودٌه أرقام (‪،380 ،308‬‬ ‫‪ ،)382،386‬المتجهة إلى جدة تأخرت لنحو ساعة‪ ،‬باإلضافة إلى تأخر‬ ‫رحلة النٌل للطٌران رقم ‪ ،111‬المتجهة الطائف‪ ،‬ورحلة إٌر كاٌرو رقم‬ ‫‪ ،475‬المتجهة إلى جدة‪ ،‬وذلك بسبب ظروف تشغٌل الرحالت وظروف‬ ‫تفوٌج موسم العودة للحجاج‪.‬‬

‫نفت الهٌئة العامة للطٌران المدنً فً اإلمارات االثنٌن صحة األنباء التً تحدثت‬ ‫فً وقت سابق عن استهداف الحوثٌ​ٌن فً الٌمن مطار دبً الدولً‪.‬‬ ‫وأفادت وكالة أنباء اإلمارات نقال عن الهٌئة بأن "حركة المالحة الجوٌة فً‬ ‫اإلمارات تسٌر بشكل اعتٌادي وطبٌعً"‪.‬‬ ‫وأضافت فً تغرٌدة على توٌتر أن ال صحة لما تتداوله وسائل إعالم تابعة‬ ‫للحوثٌ​ٌن "بخصوص مطار دبً الدولً"‪.‬‬ ‫وكانت قناة المسٌرة التابعة لجماعة الحوثً قد قالت إن "سالح الجو المسٌر نفذ‬ ‫هجوما نوعٌا على مطار دبً الدولً فً اإلمارات بواسطة طائرة مسٌرة من‬ ‫طراز صماد ‪."3‬‬ ‫وأعلن الحوثٌون قبل شهر استهداف مطار أبو ظبً بطائرة مسٌرة‪ ،‬وهو ما نفته‬ ‫السلطات اإلماراتٌة حٌنها وأكدت أن حركة المالحة فً المطار تسٌر بشكل‬ ‫طبٌعً‪.‬‬

‫‪www.mobtada.com‬‬ ‫لتطوٌره‪ٌ ..‬ونس المصرى ٌوجه بدراسة احتٌاجات مطار «طور سٌناء»‬ ‫•حنان عز الدٌن‬ ‫تفقد وزٌر الطٌران المدنى‪ ،‬الفرٌق ٌونس المصرى‪ ،‬مطار طورسٌناء‪ ،‬الٌوم اإلثنٌن‪.‬‬ ‫واستقبله المهندس ٌاسر شاهٌن‪ ،‬مدٌر المطار‪ ،‬والذى قدم شرحا ً تفصٌلىا ً عن إمكانٌات‬ ‫المطار وموقف التشغٌل والقدرة االستٌعابٌة له‪ ،‬باإلضافة إلى عملٌات التطوٌر التى شهدها‬ ‫من قبل‪.‬‬ ‫وأشار شاهٌن‪ ،‬إلى أن المطار معد ومجهز لطلبة األكادٌمٌة المصرٌة‪ ،‬لعلوم الطٌران‬ ‫للتدرٌب على الطٌران‪ ،‬هذا باإلضافة إلى استٌعابه للطائرات ذات الطراز المتوسط‪.‬‬ ‫وتعرف وزٌر الطٌران‪ ،‬على المعوقات والتحدٌات التى تؤثر على حركة المالحة الجوٌة‬ ‫بالمطار‪ ،‬كما تفقد مبنى الركاب‪ ،‬والذى ٌشتمل على صالتى سفر ووصول‪ ،‬ومدرج الطائرات‬ ‫الرئٌسى‪ ،‬والترمك وبرج المراقبة‪.‬‬ ‫ووجه وزٌر الطٌران‪ ،‬بضرورة دراسة احتٌاجات المطار‪ ،‬وفقا ً لإلمكانٌات المتاحة والعمل‬ ‫على رفع كفاءته التشغٌلٌة‪ ،‬والبدء فى عملٌات تطوٌر المطار‪ ،‬فٌما ٌخص البنٌة التحتٌة‪،‬‬ ‫وكذا األعمال اإلنشائٌة والمرافق المحٌطة له من خالل عدة مراحل‪ ،‬مع وضع خطط واضحة‬ ‫للتنفٌذ فى أسرع وقت‪ ،‬مع تأمٌن األعمال الفنٌة لحقل الطائرات واستكمال جمٌع أعمال‬ ‫التأمٌن داخل وخارج المطار وكذا المنشأت واألفراد بما ٌتناسب مع مطالب التطوٌر‬ ‫المستقبلى‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد أهمٌة التنسٌق بٌن المطار واألكادٌمٌة المصرٌة لعلوم الطٌران‪ ،‬لتوفٌر أفضل‬ ‫اإلمكانٌات لتدرٌب طالب األكادٌمٌة‪ ،‬وخلق جو مناسب ٌساعدهم على الطٌران بكفاءة عالٌة‪.‬‬ ‫وأوضح المصرى‪ ،‬أن تطوٌر مطار طور سٌناء‪ٌ ،‬عد خطوة مهمة نحو تنمٌة محافظة جنوب‬ ‫سٌناء‪ ،‬وتنشٌط الحركة السٌاحٌة بالمنطقة‪ ،‬التى تذخر بالمقاصد السٌاحٌة الخالبة‪ ،‬التى‬ ‫ٌمكن استثمارها فى خطة التطوٌر المستقبلٌة‪ ،‬واالستفادة من الموقع الجغرافى للمطار‪ ،‬حٌث‬ ‫إنه ٌبعد ‪ 100‬كم فقط عن مدٌنة شرم الشٌخ أحد أهم مناطق الجذب السٌاحى‪.‬‬ ‫وفور عودته إلى مطار القاهرة‪ ،‬تفقد سٌر العمل داخل صاالت الوصول بمبنى الرحالت‬ ‫الموسمٌة‪ ،‬وتأكد وزٌر الطٌران من توفٌر كل اإلمكانٌات والخدمات للحجاج بٌت هللا الحرام‪،‬‬ ‫وسرعة انهاء إجراءات وصولهم فى سهولة وٌسر‪ ،‬كما اطمأن على التنسٌق الجٌد بٌن‬ ‫جمٌع الوزارات المعنٌة‪ ،‬لتذلٌل العقبات للخروج بموسم حج ناجح هذا العام‪.‬‬

The Civil Aviation Authority has been able to implement the latest direct communication systems between the pilot and the air observer at the Authority's air navigation center.

The implementation of Control Pilot Data Link Communication ( CPLC)based on satellite data transmission directly to the pilot, is one of the most advanced systems which will support air safety by providing guidance information for pilots through non-voice e-mail messages that are clear, fast, instantaneous and can locate the aircraft in addition to covering aviation communication gaps and vulnerabilities, especially over areas away from ground communication stations.

Emirates will boost its services to Riyadh with the addition of a fourth daily flight to the Saudi capital from 1 September 2018.

The addition of the fourth daily service will take the total number of weekly Emirates flights serving Riyadh to 28.

The fourth daily flight will be serviced by the Boeing 777-300ER in a three-class configuration.

Qantas has today announced an extension of its global lounge improvement program. The multi-million dollar program will see the national carrier upgrade six lounges in Auckland, Brisbane, Hobart, Sydney, Tamworth and Tokyo.

The lounge locations are: Sydney – The flagship Sydney International First lounge will be refreshed and expanded by 15 per cent.

Auckland – The First and Business Lounges in Auckland will be redesigned into a single lounge based on the format of Qantas’ international lounges in London and Hong Kong. Regional inspiration from New Zealand will be incorporated throughout.

Tokyo – The Narita lounge will be refreshed with a new design and improved dining options.

Brisbane – The Brisbane International Lounge will be expanded to cater for an additional 100 guests and completed in early 2019.

Hobart and Tamworth – Both lounges will be completely redesigned with more space and seating.

The Melbourne Qantas Club and Domestic Business Lounge are currently being redeveloped. The first phase of the redesigned Melbourne Domestic Business Lounge opens tomorrow, and once complete will feature a Spice Bar serving freshly made Asian street food. Both lounges will be completed by November this year. Qantas is also building a new Sydney International Business Lounge with 35 per cent more seating.

Passengers of the carrier, can now use SITA’s Scan&Fly to check in their bags when flying domestically from Rio de Janeiro International Airport and will soon be able to do so at São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport as well. This self-service option halves the time it takes to check in a bag and gives passengers more control over their journey.

Each year, GOL flies around 32 million passengers. Providing significant reductions in the time it takes to check in is a major bonus for passengers, as well as helping GOL reach the targets set as part of the IATA Fast Travel program.

SITA is retro-fitting Scan&Fly units at each airport. Using them, passengers will be able to check in their baggage in just 40 seconds.

As well as the units themselves, SITA also provided consultancy to develop the optimized processes in both airports, integrating the solution into the airlines’ and airports’ infrastructures.

Qatar Airways partners with George Calombaris to create new GreekInspired in-flight dining options for passengers travelling from Australia Qatar Airways is delighted to announce its expanded collaboration with renowned Australian chef and restauranteur, George Calombaris, who will create a new edition of Greek-inspired in-flight dining options for the airline, starting 1 September 2018.

The new menus will be available to First and Business Class passengers travelling from Qatar Airways’ four gateways in Australia (Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney) to Doha, Qatar. Qatar Airways is also working with Chef Calombaris to feature his signature touch in the Economy Class menu, due to debut in the first quarter of 2019.

This marks the second time Qatar Airways has partnered with Calombaris to present his signature dishes at 30,000 feet. In 2017, Qatar Airways and Calombaris jointly presented an exclusive in-flight menu to celebrate the introduction of the A380 service on the Melbourne-Doha routelast year.

Ethiopian has 49 per cent stake in the joint venture while the Government of Chad retains 51 percent. The newChadnational carrier is planned to go intooperation as of October 1, 2018.

Through its multiple hubs strategy in Africa, Ethiopian currently operates hubs in Lomé (Togo) with ASKY Airlines and Malawian in Lilongwe (Malawi), while having the already acquired stakes in Zambia’s and Guinea’s national carriers and making preparations to launch Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines.

Air Canada advances its product distribution capabilities with NDC exchange connection ATPCO and SITA today announced that launch customer Air Canada processed its first NDC (New Distribution Capability) production transaction via NDC Exchange, a platform that simplifies the adoption of the International Air Transport Association’s )IATA( NDC standard.

NDC is a new standard aimed at enabling the travel industry to transform the way services are retailed to corporations as well as leisure and business travelers. It provides greater product differentiation, quicker time-to-market, access to full and rich content and delivers a more transparent shopping experience.

NDC Exchange is a community platform that facilitates the real-time NDC connectivity between airlines and sellers (GDSs, travel agents, aggregators, OTAs, and TMCs) so that they can exchange NDC messages easily and cost effectively. NDC Exchange supports shopping, booking, and servicing workflows and enables the crossselling of ancillary services between airlines, and airlines and sellers. It normalizes messages regardless of version or format, creating interoperability across the distribution ecosystem. Travel sellers can access multiple airlines via NDC Exchange, hence lowering the cost of their implementation.

sowetourban.co.za Aviation expo set to educate youth The Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) expo provides a unique opportunity for young and old Soweto residents to gain an understanding of Africa’s aerospace capabilities and will be taking place September 19 to 23 at the Waterkloof Air Base.

The AAD runs a Youth Development Programme (YDP) which is aimed at introducing and educating youth from side-lined communities to the interesting world of aviation and the opportunities available within this sector.

Learners from different dinaledi high schools throughout the country will be invited to experience the expo, learn about funding opportunities within the aviation and defence sectors and interact with individuals who are currently in the sectors. ”Gone are the days where our children are actually restricted to being a teacher or a doctor, so the YDP actually opens learners up to see what else is out there,“ explained Lulu Mzili, Group Executive of Business Enablement at Armscor.

The YDP has been extended to run as an ongoing annual programme which goes beyond the expo, which takes place every two years. It not only targets school going youth but also university graduates as it links them to vacation work and internship opportunities. ”Other international exhibitions do not have this initiative. We are the only aerospace and defence expo which is showing learners the career opportunities within these industries,“ said Mzili.

The AAD partners hope to see the YDP grow beyond showcasing opportunities available and assisting schools to improve their mathematics and science pass rates. ”We would like to establish or partner with bursary schemes that will take some of these young people all the way through to university training,“ explained Simphiwe Hamilton, AMD executive director.

This year’s AAD expo promises to be the biggest yet since its commencement as 90 delegates from 47 countries are expected and 44 confirmed aircraft on show including some of the South African Airforce’s available fleet.

The airshow will close off in spectacular fashion with a surprise according to the Commercial Aviation Association of South Africa (CAASA) CEO Leon Dillman, this will also be another first for the AAD.

1 www.straitstimes.com African businesses can make Singapore a base and partner in South-east Asia and beyond: Chan Chun Sing SINGAPORE - Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing on Tuesday (Aug 28) called on African businesses to make Singapore a base and a partner "in South-east Asia and beyond", adding that aviation agreements to boost physical connectivity would also be practical for enabling business links.

Even as some developed economies pull back from the world stage, Africa and South-east Asia can work together more closely and promote economic integration, Mr Chan told an audience of some 600 delegates, in a keynote address at the biennial Africa Singapore Business Forum.

"While the economies of Africa and South-east Asia continue to work towards openness and integration, we also see other countries retreating from globalisation because of their domestic difficulties," said the minister. "We hear of tariffs, trade tensions between major players and protectionism on a regular basis. We are already seeing the real effects of such actions and rhetoric on the commercial decisions of many companies."

"Against this backdrop, it is important that we continue to believe in, and promote and support, economic integration and co-operation, with a strong conviction that open economies, connected economies, interdependent economies, ultimately bring better jobs and better income for our people," he said.

The minister said that with the third Singapore-Sub-Saharan Africa HighLevel Ministerial Exchange Visit under way this week, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was "essential for our governments to continue forging partnerships and create conducive environments to support business-to-business interactions".

Increasing physical connectivity through various aviation agreements would also be a practical enabler of greater business linkages, said Mr Chan. Ethiopian Airlines and Air Mauritius are currently the only two African airlines flying to Singapore and "we hope and encourage to see more African carriers do the same in future," he said.

At Tuesday's forum, an avoidance of double taxation agreement was inked between Singapore and Gabon - the 13th such deal with an African country.

Five other pacts were also signed at the event, which was held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and organised by government agency Enterprise Singapore.

The agency's Singapore Cooperation Enterprise arm and the Mozambique Investment and Export Promotion Agency have agreed to work on exchanging consultancy, advisory and training services for urban master plans and special economic and industrial zones, while the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and Egyptian Businessmen Association will work to match companies in each country with their counterparts.

Construction company Well & Able Holdings secured a contract with Compagnie Sénégalaise de Transport Transatlantique Afrique de l'Ouest to design and build a 9,795 square metre (105,433 square feet) multimodal logistics hub that includes a 7,500 sq m container terminal, while digital solutions company Graymatics struck a deal to partner Crescentech, a Kenyan infocomm technology firm, in areas such as security, banking, telecommunications and retail, with an eye to expanding into South Africa, Nigeria and other countries.

GeTS Asia - a subsidiary of government e-solutions company CrimsonLogic, which is 30 per cent-owned by Enterprise Singapore and 70 per cent-owned by Temasek Holdings' PSA International - will bring its recently launched Open Trade Blockchain platform to Kenya, in a deal with the Kenya Trade Network Agency.

Such agreements should result in more partnerships between Singapore and African companies, said Enterprise Singapore chief executive Png Cheong Boon, who cited "tremendous opportunities in Africa, particularly in the area of consumer products, manufacturing, digital economy and infrastructure development" in his opening remarks at the forum.

Enterprise Singapore said it has successfully facilitated close to 50 projects for Singapore companies in Africa in the last two years, 80 per cent of which were undertaken by small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Over 60 Singapore companies are present in Africa, operating across more than 40 African countries and multiple industries.

GCAA maintained, that the collapse of the hitherto vibrant Ghana Airways, was plagued with various administrative and operational challenges among which included the infamous free ticket system exploited by government officials and politicians. ”As we know, a new national airline will soon hit the skies. But as a reminder, the era of free tickets are far behind us. There is a resolve to quit that practice as it was a contributory factor that led to the demise of Ghana Airways and its successor, the Ghana International Airlines,“ Director-General of GCAA, Mr. Simon Allotey told the Goldstreet Business.

He said that policy, when strictly adhered to, will only be in the interest of Ghana as a country.

The issue of government appointees exploiting and clamouring for free travel tickets on the then national airline, has been treated as an allegation for several years after the demise of the former national carrier.

The revelation by the GCAA has therefore confirmed that it was not a mere allegation as was perceived.

With a recent policy approval by Parliament, for the setting up of a new national carrier by the Aviation Ministry and its stakeholders, GCAA and Ghana Airports Company, reports from the Ministry indicated that Ethiopian Airlines, Air Mauritius, African World Airlines and a host of others are currently engaged with government for the establishment of the national airline.

With an estimated 385 million people in West Africa as of 2017, there is enormous potential for the aviation sector which Ghana can harness.

The latest Airbus Global Market Forecast 2017-2036, titled ‘Growing Horizons’, shows that over half of global tourists travel across international borders each year on air transport.

Ghana’s aviation sector has been growing by about 8 percent annually over the past decade. Last year, total international passenger throughput (arrivals/departures) hit 1.8 million.

Accra plays a host to large number of international carriers from Europe, North America and Asia.

Prominent international and regional airlines operating flights to and from Accra, include, Air France, Turkish Airlines, Brussels, British Airways, TAP Portugal, Emirates, Delta, Ethiopian, South African Airways, Air Namibia, Rwandair, African World Airlines and several others.

In 2016, global passenger traffic grew impressively with 6.3 percent year over year growth, with an increase in the passenger fleet of an aircraft of above 100 seats to over 19,000 airliners, supporting record levels of deliveries from manufacturers.

http://dispatch.ug Air Tanzania launches flights to Uganda Tanzania’s national carrier ”Air Tanzania“ has launched direct flights to Entebbe International Airport. This follows the decision by Tanzania to revival its national carrier, which saw the country purchase of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners in July, 2018.

The carrier, which has started making four direct flights to Entebbe every week, will also be flying to the Burundian Capital, Bujumbura. Air Tanzania last made direct flights to Entebbe International Airport five years ago.

Vianney Luggya, the Public Relations Officer Civil Aviation Authority, says Air Tanzania is one of the five new carriers flying to Entebbe International Airport following an increase in traffic to the country.

In a statement released by the Managing Director and CEO of Air Tanzania; Eng. Ladislaus Matindi said that, ”The Wings of Kilimanjaro is proud to once again serve East Africa with direct flights and smooth connections to and from Tanzania. The service will enhance investment, trade and tourism opportunities in the region.“ Passenger traffic in and out of the country increased from 1.5 million in 2016 to 1.6 million people in 2017. According to Luggya, generally the demand for air transport services has increased, which is attracting new operators.

According to Luggya, four other companies including include Kush Air, Uga Wings, Africana International and Uganda Airlines have applied to operate in Uganda.

Luggya says the increase in air traffic prompted the rehabilitation and expansion of Entebbe International Airport. The first phase of the works, which include the construction of a new terminal building, a cargo center and expanded terminal will be complete by 2021.

Air Tanzania is the flag carrier airline of Tanzania based in Dar es Salaam with its hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport. It was established in 1977 and has been a member of the African Airlines Association since its inception.

Air Tanzania is a wholly owned government company that has served a variety of domestic, regional and international destinations over the years. The airline operates a fleet of 5 aircrafts including a Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner to meet performance, dependability and comfort.
