"طٌران اإلمارات" تع ٌّن إبراهٌم غانم مدٌرا إقلٌمٌا فً مصر ولٌبٌا
مدٌرا إقلٌم ًٌا جدٌدًا لعملٌاتها فً مصر أعلنت شركة طٌران اإلمارات ،فً بٌان الٌوم األربعاء ،أنها عٌنت إبراهٌم غانم ً ولٌبٌا. وقالت الشركة إن غانم باشر مهام عمله فً القاهرة ،من أول الشهر الجاري ،حٌث ٌتولى مسؤولٌة جمٌع عملٌات الناقلة ،وٌشرف على وظائف المبٌعات وخدمات الركاب والشحن وعملٌات المطار ،وٌقدم تقارٌره مباشرة ،إلى بدر عباس ،نائب رئٌس أول طٌران اإلمارات للعملٌات التجارٌة لمنطقة أفرٌقٌا. وكان إبراهٌم غانم قد التحق بالعمل لدى طٌران اإلمارات ضمن برنامج التدرٌب اإلداري منذ نحو خمس سنوات، وشغل خالل هذه المدة منصب مدٌر الدعم التجاري .وبعد إتمام تدرٌبه ،شغل منصب مدٌر عملٌات الناقلة فً زٌمبابوي ثم فً تونس .وٌحمل درجة البكالورٌوس فً الحقوق من الجامعة األمٌركٌة فً اإلمارات. ً متواصال ،وٌتجلى ذلك فً نموا وتعلٌ ًقا على تعٌٌنه فً منصبه الجدٌد ،قال غانم إن "مصر تعد سو ًقا مهمة وتشهد ً مؤخرا ،حٌث أضافت مزٌدًا من السعة المقعدٌة لتلبٌة الطلب على هذا الخط قٌامنا بتشغٌل طائرة A380إلى القاهرة ً الحٌوي .وأنا أتطلع إلى تسخٌر إمكانٌاتً مع فرٌق العمل لمواصلة مسٌرة الشركة الناجحة". ٌذكر أن فرٌق عمل طٌران اإلمارات ٌضم 1055مصرٌا ً فً طاقم المقصورة و 16طٌاراً ،باإلضافة إلى أكثر من 2025مواطن مصري ٌعملون فً مكاتب طٌران اإلمارات فً مصر وفً المقر الرئٌس بدبً. ٌذكر أن القاهرة كانت من أوائل المحطات على شبكة خطوط طٌران اإلمارات العالمٌة ،حٌث بدأت الناقلة خدمتها فً عام 1986بثالث رحالت أسبوعٌة ،واستمرت فً التوسع لتصل اآلن إلى 25رحلة أسبوعٌا ً بٌن القاهرة ودبً ،منها ٤رحالت فً األسبوع بطائرة اإلٌرباص العمالقة ،A380فً حٌن تعمل بقٌة الرحالت بطائرات البوٌنج .777 وٌتكون أسطول طٌران اإلمارات حالٌا ً من 269طائرة حدٌثة ،من طرازي بوٌنج 777وإٌرباص A380.وتخدم الناقلة ،انطالقا ً من مركزها فً دبً 159 ،مدٌنة فً 85دولة ضمن قارات العالم الست.

Queen Alia International Airport welcomes over 722K passengers during October
Official statistics released by Airport International Group showed that Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has received 722,792 passengers (PAX) during October, representing a substantial 10.4% growth set against the same month in 2018. Meanwhile, QAIA recorded 6,547 aircraft movements (ACM) and handled 9,335 tons of cargo, marking a rise of 6.1% and 1.9%, respectively. Since the beginning of 2019 and until the end of October, QAIA welcomed 7,636,388 PAX, up 6.1% compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, year-to-date (YTD) ACM increased by 3.9% to reach 67,813, whereas YTD cargo dropped by 1.3% to reach 85,515 tons.

IndiGo becomes IATA member
MUMBAI: IndiGoNSE 0.65 % Wednesday announced it has become a member of the global lobbying body the International Air Transport Association )IATA(, a step which will help India’s biggest airline forge commercial partnerships with member airlines across the world. The airline became the second low fare carrier in India after SpiceJetNSE 1.35 % to get an IATA membership. IATA is a group of more than 290 member airlines. National carrier Air India and Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, are also members. IndiGo, which has an aggressive fleet expansion and overseas growth strategy, has till now signed codeshare partnerships with Qatar Airways Turkish Airlines. It entered into new markets including Turkey, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, China, Myanmar and Vietnam in 2019. “This is a strategic milestone, as the airline steers its focus towards international. expansion. Being a member of IATA will help IndiGo grow its network faster . by building relationships with other airlines...” said Wolfgang ProckSchauer, president of IndiGo.

1 Ethiopian Airlines A350 In Collision With Turkish Cargo A330 A Turkish Cargo Airbus A330 has collided with an Ethiopian Airlines Airbus A350. The incident happened at Kinshasa-N’Djili Airport in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. What happened? The Turkish Cargo A330-200F, registration TC-JOV was in Kinshasa following flight TK6512 from Istanbul. Meanwhile, the Ethiopian A350-900, registration ET-AWO arrived in the DR Congo capital after completing flight ET841 from Addis Ababa. Aeronews shared a post by local citizen Magloire Kabwe, which showed images of the collision. The tweet explained that the wing of the Turkish airline aircraft hit the back of the Ethiopian Airlines plane. The close-up images show some minor damage to the outer body of the planes. Altogether, there doesn’t seem to be any major harm done from what we can see in the photos. However, we hope that any crew and passengers on board are safe.

2 Previous incidents Turkish Cargo is the shipping subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. This is not the first time that the parent company has been involved in an airport collision. In April, a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787-9 collided with a Turkish Airlines Airbus A340 aircraft at Johannesburg Airport. This resulted in the grounding of both planes. Additionally, The Independent reports that last year, an Asiana A330 began to taxi to take off and collided with the tail of a Turkish Airline A321. Thankfully, no passengers or crew were injured during this incident. Today’s incident comes a day after the collision of a fuel truck at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. This resulted in the damage of a couple of American Eagle Bombardier CRJ900s. Both of the planes were preparing for departure at the time before clashing. More about the aircraft Ethiopian is extremely proud of its A350. Earlier this month, the airline celebrated the first flight of the Airbus aircraft type to Toronto. According to Planespotters, it currently holds 13 units of the model within its fleet. The first of these arrived in June 2016 and the latest one came only last month. The carrier also has one more of the planes on order. Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines holds 67 A330s within its fleet. However, only five of these are A330-200Fs. This is the Airbus range’s all-cargo edition, which is capable of carrying 140,000 lb. Simple Flying reached out to both Ethiopian Airlines and Turkish Airlines for more information about the collision but did not hear back before publication. Explosively ripped apart The news that a cargo door had blown off the 777X during its stress test in September was shocking enough. However, it now appears that the situation was far worse than we could ever have imagined. According to reporting by the Seattle Times, it wasn’t just the door that ruptured, but the entire fuselage! Boeing statement Boeing spokesperson Paul Bergman was kind enough to provide Simple Flying with the following statement in regards to the incident.
“In the final load testing of the 777X static test airplane, our team conducted a test that involves bending the wings of the airplane up to a level far beyond anything expected in commercial service. A testing issue occurred during the final minutes of the test, at approximately 99 percent of the final test loads, and involved a depressurization of the aft fuselage. The test team followed all safety protocols. “As we shared on our Oct. 23 earnings call, our root cause assessment continues, and we are pleased with the progress we are making as we complete our detailed analysis. What we’ve seen to date reinforces our prior assessment that this will not have a significant impact on the design or our preparations for first flight. We do not see any impact from the test on the overall program schedule. “On the call, we did update our target for first delivery from late 2020 to early 2021. As we’d said for some time, there had been significant risk to the late 2020 timeline. What changed is that we now have a clearer understanding of how the GE9X engine issue has impacted the details of our flight test program. For example, the timing of engines for the remaining flight test airplanes will affect when they begin flying, which in turn affects our detailed test schedules. When we account for all these factors, we expect to fly in early 2020 deliver in 2021. “We remain fully focused on safety as our highest priority as we subject the 777X to a rigorous test program.”

Immense amounts of stress Airframe pressure testing is an incredibly demanding process, and aims to exert some 1.5 times the normal pressure that would be experienced by an airliner in use. The wings are pulled upwards some 28 feet from their normal position, the fuselage is bent downwards with millions of pounds of force on the front and aft. And inside the plane, pressurization is raised to around 10lb per square inch, far beyond regular levels. The FAA requirement says that forces need to be piled upon the airframe up to 1.5 times the maximum load that would ever be experienced in normal flight. It then has to be held there for at least three seconds. The 777X had reached a load of 1.48 times the maximum, around 99% of the target, when the structure gave way. The weak point was under the center fuselage, just behind where the landing gear is stowed. The extremes of pressure on the fuselage caused the skin of the aircraft to rupture, leading to massive depressurization that a whistleblower described as “a loud boom, and the ground shook”. It was this rapid depressurization that caused the extent of the damage. The fuselage skin split up the side of the aircraft, damaging an area around a passenger door that fell out of the fuselage to the ground. Boeing provided a statement in regard to the incident, which said that although the company is yet to finalize a detailed analysis of what happened in September, “what we’ve seen to date reinforces our prior assessment that

Fastjet looks to sell ZImbabwe arm to avert funding crisis African budget carrier Fastjet Group is considering selling its Zimbabwe airline operation to raise capital, after disclosing that it is facing more funding pressure. Fastjet Group says it needs to raise funds by the end of February next year or it will be unable to continue trading as a going concern. "The headroom of available cash resources is minimal, and the projections are very sensitive to any assumptions not being met," it says. It has entered discussions with certain shareholders to explore options to restructure the company or secure a capital injection. The restructuring proposal would involve divesting the Fastjet Zimbabwe division to a consortium which would be led by Solenta Aviation Holdings – the majority shareholder of Fastjet Group. This consortium would also comprise local Zimbabwean investors. Divestment would generate a consideration of $8 million from this consortium, says Fastjet Group, and relieve it of some $5.4 million in liabilities as well as $3.2 million of aircraft capital expenditure. The proceeds would be used to settle current liabilities and provide working capital sufficient to fund the company into the 2021 fiscal year. This proposal would mean Fastjet Group – which has already divested its Tanzanian division and suspended its Mozambican arm – would effectively become a franchise house. It would generate revenues through the Fastjet brand and providing airline management services to other independently-owned carriers in Africa. "The group would aim to only own airlines once they were cash-generative and profitable," says the company, enabling it to avoid start-up costs and the uncertainties of operating in Africa. Initial discussions on the proposal have been "positive", it claims. Fastjet Group would be given the option of returning as a shareholder by reacquiring its stake in the Zimbabwean operation within three to five years. It would also continue to hold an interest in the FedAir operation.

Tanzanian gov't seeks to partner with Uganda Airlines The Government of Tanzania has suggested Uganda Airlines (UR, Entebbe/Kampala) position itself as a regional carrier feeding traffic to Air Tanzania (TC, Dar es Salaam) and its Dar es Salaam hub, Ugandan weekly The Observer has reported. "Instead of competition, we can complement each other by Uganda Airlines flying passengers from its various destinations to Air Tanzania's hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar-es-Salaam for Air Tanzania to take them to its long-haul destinations," Tanzania's deputy minister of Works, Transport and Communications Atashasta Nditiye said. Nditiye added that Tanzania wanted to prevent unhealthy competition between the two small carriers catering to the same regional market. However, his proposal did not mention Uganda Airlines' own long-haul ambitions, which would render his suggestion unlikely. Air Tanzania operates a fleet of two A220-300s, two B787-8s, and three Dash 8400s (as well as an inactive Dash 8-300, an inactive Fokker 28-3000 and an inactive Fokker 50). According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, it has firm orders for a further two A220-300s and one more Dash 8-400. For its part, Uganda Airlines, which was relaunched this year, operates four CRJ900LRs but has two A330-800s on firm order from Airbus. At present, the two airlines' networks overlap at relatively few points in East Africa, with both Air Tanzania and Uganda Airlines serving Kilimanjaro and Bujumbura from their respective hubs in Dar es Salaam and Entebbe/Kampala. Both airlines also operate between the two gateways. However, the overlap will be much larger going forward with Uganda Airlines planning to launch flights to Mumbai Int'l, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, Zanzibar, Harare Int'l, and Lusaka, all of which are currently served by Air Tanzania. Nditiye also said that the two countries should join forces in revamping the struggling East African Civil Aviation Academy, or Soroti Flying School. While initially owned by the East African Community (EAC), the flying school was nationalised by Uganda والمراسم in 1977العامة and is barely functional للعالقات العامة االدارةat present. The Ugandan Government said it has already initiated steps to revive the الشركة القابضة لمصر للطيران school on its own with the acquisition of new training aircraft.
Etihad Cargo and Abu Dhabi Airports unveil cargo project Etihad Cargo and Abu Dhabi Airports have announced a major, multi-phased project to enhance Abu Dhabi Int'l into a state-of-the-art global air cargo centre of excellence. The plans revealed that the first phase, incorporating the upgrading of the Southside Etihad cargo facilities, will commence immediately and is due for completion by the end of Q3 2020. This initial phase will not only increase the efficiency and productivity of the existing facilities to support air cargo growth for the coming five years but it will also enhance Etihad Cargo’s pharmaceutical logistics capability. In the mid- and long-term, the two partners have designated a plot of land at the East Midfield site. The hope is that the next-generation facility will become one of the world’s most advanced and automated air cargo terminals. Bryan Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, commented: “Geographically, Abu Dhabi is situated at the heart of the east to west trade routes. Additionally, the transport and logistics fabric of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is well planned and structured to create undeniable potential to grow the cargo traffic exponentially. “Today we are putting in place the right foundations and frameworks for our future cargo activity, which in a few years will re-shape this industry for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is the future’s cargo hub for the region and the world.” Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Aviation Group, added: “Today’s announcement is a major milestone in the development of Etihad Cargo’s logistics strategy that will see our hub continue to grow as one of the world’s most important trade facilitators connecting East and West." According to the ch-aviation PRO airlines module, Etihad Cargo currently operates a fleet of six B777-Fs.
