قال اإلعالمً مصطفى بكري ،إن مطار القاهرة الدولً ٌشهد حالة غٌر مسبوقة من التطوٌر ورفع مستوى الخدمات العامة للركاب ،نظرا لكونه واجهة مصر األولً. أوضح بكري خالل تقدٌمه برنامج "حقائق وأسرار" المذاع علً فضائٌة صدي البلد ،أن التطوٌر كان بناء على توجٌهات الفرٌق ٌونس المصري وزٌر الطٌران المدنً ،تحت إشراف اللواء أحمد جنٌنة رئٌس الشركة القابضة للمطارات والمالحة الجوٌة. وأشار اإلعالمً ،إلى أن وزٌر الطٌران المدنً ٌتابع باهتمام تطوٌر المطارات ،والتً تعد واجهة مصر لكل من ٌقوم بزٌارتها.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has concluded that former Horizon Air staffer Richard Russell, acting alone, stole and intentionally crashed a Horizon Bombardier Q400 in August The FBI found that Russell "piloted the aircraft and that the final descent to the ground was intentional," says the agency in an investigation summary. "Extensive investigative activity failed to reveal any additional subjects involved in the planning or execution of the unauthorised flight." The FBI, however, found no motive. "Although investigators received information regarding Russell’s background, possible stressors and personal life, no element provided a clear motivation for Russell’s actions," it says. Russell stole the Q400 (registration N449QX) from a cargo area at Seattle Tacoma International airport on 10 August, according to officials. He took off without clearance on a 73min flight during which he reportedly performed aerobatic manoeuvres before crashing on an island in Puget Sound. Russell died in the crash, the FBI says. The Q400's flight data recorder "indicated significant sideslip on the airplane during the final minute of flight, but the airplane appears to have remained in control, and the final descent to the ground appears to have been intentional", says the FBI. "If the pilot had wanted to avoid impact with the ground he had time and energy to pull the column back, raise the nose and initiate a climb," it adds. Instead, the control column remained in a forward position until 6s prior to the crash.

Caribbean operator Fly Jamaica believes all occupants of a Boeing 757-200 are safe after the aircraft was badly damaged in a landing accident at Georgetown, Guyana. The aircraft had been around 10min into its flight OJ256 to Toronto when it turned around to head back to the departure airport. Fly Jamaica says the twinjet had experienced a “technical problem” but that it subsequently suffered a landing accident. The aircraft appears to have conducted its approach to runway 06. Flight Fleets Analyzer lists the carrier as having a single 757-200, the US-registered N524AT, a 1999 airframe originally delivered to ATA Airlines. The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce RB211 engines. Georgetown Cheddi Jagan airport’s operator states that six occupants among the 120 passengers and eight crew members were injured during the “emergency landing”. It adds that none of the injuries is life-threatening. Accompanying images from the airport operator, on its social media feed, indicate that the 757 has suffered substantial damage to its starboard wing and engine, as well as its landing-gear. While the landing took place in darkness in the early hours of 9 November, meteorological data indicates that weather conditions were good.

www.ch-aviation.com SF Aviation Holding buys Small Planet Airlines Germany SF Aviation Holding, the parent of VLM Airlines (Brussels) (HQ, Brussels National), has finalised the takeover of insolvent Small Planet Airlines Germany (5P, Berlin Schönefeld), fvw has reported. The German leisure specialist's management confirmed that an agreement had been signed. While the exact plans for the revival of Small Planet Airlines Germany are as of yet unknown, the new owners will likely reduce the fleet to just one or two A320 Family jets for the Winter 2018/19. Small Planet Airlines Germany operated as many as nine aircraft during the peak of the Summer 2018 season. At the end of its operations, the airline dry-leased six Airbus jets and wet-leased a further two units. Due to the planned fleet reduction, despite the takeover, the airline will lay off most pilots and cabin crew. It will help to place some of them with Travel Service Airlines. Besides SF Aviation Holding, Onur Air (8Q, Istanbul Atatürk) was reportedly also interested in taking over Small Planet Airlines Germany. Small Planet Airlines Germany declared insolvency in midSeptember 2018 and continued to operate through November 1. It needs to resume flights within the next six months to reactivate its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC). Otherwise, the AOC will be permanently withdrawn. The carrier's Polish sister company, Small Planet Airlines Polska (P7, Warsaw Chopin), filed for restructuring in early October and operated its last flight on November 9. Small Planet Airlines (S5, Vilnius) also filed for restructuring in October.

Royal Jordanian (RJ, Amman Queen Alia) has deferred a decision on its narrowbody fleet renewal plans until early 2019, chief executive Stefan Pichler has said. Speaking to Reuters, Pichler said the carrier was still in talks with Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer over an order for 23 jets which will replace its existing fleet of four A319100s, six A320-200s, two A321-200s, three E175s, and two E195s. “I think right now it’s a head to head race ... and the best offer will win,” he told Reuters in Cairo. “We’ll probably make a call in the first quarter of 2019.” Pichler had earlier told ch-aviation that he had anticipated reaching a decision by either September or October.

www.ch-aviation.com Azerbaijan's AZAL continues to oppose EU Open Skies AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2, Baku) has reiterated its opposition to the accession of Azerbaijan to the EU Open Skies zone, which would fully liberalise the air traffic rights between the Caucasian country and the EU. "AZAL fears the consequences of signing the Open Skies Agreement with Europe. I officially declare that there are no restrictions on flights to Azerbaijan for any airline. I will say more foreign carriers are even provided with extended commercial rights of freedom of the air," President Jahangir Asgarov said during the meeting with KPMG, a consultancy dealing with the Open Skies adoption. Asgarov further added that Azerbaijan currently pursues a liberal policy wherein foreign carriers are quickly granted necessary traffic rights, including the fifth freedom rights via Baku and cabotage rights (eighth freedom) within Azerbaijan. Once the EU Open Skies agreement is signed, EU-based carriers would not need to apply for traffic rights to Azerbaijan and could launch flights to the country at a much shorter notice. The treaty would not, however, regulate fifth or eighth freedom operations. According to the ch-aviation capacity module, AZAL currently has a 38.9% market share by capacity on all flights departing Azerbaijan. Other major players in the market include Turkish Airlines (14.3% market share), Lufthansa (5.3%), and flydubai (5.0%). The Open Skies could lead to a boost in low-cost carrier traffic from Europe. Currently, Wizz Air operates one flight per week to Baku, while other major European LCCs, such as Ryanair, easyJet, or Norwegian do not serve Azerbaijan

Antonov Airlines (ADB, Gostomel) and German cargo GSA, Aircargonet, have formed a 51/49 joint venture Antonov-LogisticSalis GmbH to operate military charter flights on behalf of NATO and EU states out of Leipzig/Halle, Cargo Forwarder has reported. "Two An-124-100 aircraft will be permanently based at Leipzig Airport. Should additional cargo capacity and flights be required, the contract will cover this under certain rules as well," Aircargonet GmbH owner Klaus Lederer said in an interview. The new company will start operating on January 1, 2019, after the current contract with Ruslan SALIS GmbH expires. The company is a subsidiary of Volga-Dnepr Airlines (VI, Ulyanovsk Vostochny), which announced earlier this year it would not continue to provide airlift capabilities for NATO member states beyond 2018, officially citing its intention to focus on civilian cargo flights. "Antonov Logistics Salis GmbH is going to serve the needs of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency from 2019 onwards as an agency operating under the same rules and conditions as stipulated in the previous contract," Lederer said, adding that, at least initially, commercial cargo will not be transported by the company.

Antonov-Logistic-Salis will operate the aircraft on the Ukrainian Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) of Antonov Airlines. Alexander Gritsenko has already been appointed as the managing director of the new venture. The company structure has already been approved by both NATO and the German Federal Aviation Office (Luftfahrt Bundesamt - LBA). Under the terms of the Strategic Airlift Interim Solution (SALIS) contract, twelve European NATO member states, as well as nonNATO members Finland and Sweden, have been chartering six An-124-100s from Volga-Dnepr Airlines since 2006. The aircraft chartered by NATO from the Russian airline are eventually expected to be replaced by the delayed A400Ms, although the timeline is uncertain due to certification issues with the Airbus freighters. Prior to the outbreak of the war between Ukraine and Russianbacked separatists in the Donbass area, Ruslan SALIS GmbH had been a 50/50 joint-venture between Volga-Dnepr Airlines and Antonov Airlines. Subsequently, the Russian airline assumed the full control of the company, while Antonov Airlines independently took over a smaller part of the contract. For its part, Aircargonet has experience with organising military charters as it has been selling Uzbekistan Airways (HY, Tashkent Islam Karimov) Il-76TD capacity to the German military for services to Termez.
