Japan refuses to receive aircraft with Russian nuclear scientists

Photo from rusnord.ru March 15, the head of Rosatom, Sergei Kiriyenko, said at the meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin that the Japanese side is not willing to receive the plane with a group of Russian nuclear scientists. He noted that among the specialists from the RF are two world-class nuclear physicists who participated in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident in 1986. Their participation could be very helpful in the current situation at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan. However, according to Sergei Kiriyenko, the specialists spent more than 10 hours in Khabarovsk awaiting a decision of the Japanese side to receive the Russian plane. As previously reported, the decision to send the Rosatom experts to Japan was made in view of the fact that, according to the Rosatom representatives, the information about what was actually happening at the Japanese nuclear power plant was insufficient and contradictory. According to the forecasts of Russian experts, the worst case scenario for the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant is the one “when the core melts not only in the three operating reactors, but in all the pools". However, even in this case, according to Sergei Kiriyenko, a nuclear explosion should not be expected. The only thing that worries the experts at the moment is the discharge of radioactive substances into the atmosphere. "But even if you take into account the worst-case discharge scenario, and add this worst-case scenario at the nuclear station to the wind worst-case scenario, that is, if you make such an apocalyptic wind scenario suggesting that when it (the emission of radiation) occurs, the entire wind will be blowing towards the Russian Federation – with a high speed for several days in a row, even in this case there is no threat to Russia's Far East", said the head of Rosatom.
