Eiger’s collection contains individual pieces and mini collections by an impressive list of ten designers from a wide range of design fields including interiors, graphic, product and fashion. The brand is design-directed by Terence Woodgate, Royal Designer for Industry, and industrial and jewellery designer Alba Bayona, and relies on a team of jewellery makers who have the expertise needed to help the designers bring their ideas to life with the impeccable finish that their designs demand.
BEAM BY TERENCE WOODGATE / FURNITURE AND LIGHTING DESIGNER One of the UK’s most respected industrial designers, Terence has become known for a stripped-down, elegant, modern approach to design with an obsessive attention to detail and manufacture. He became a Royal Designer for Industry in 2003 and has received several international design awards including the Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ and the IF ecology award. Rhodium plated solid sterling silver pendant and earrings with a matt silk finish. Also available with a mirror polished finish. Dimensions: 6mm wide x 28mm long.
SPHERE RING AND CROSSOVER NECKLACE BY TERENCE WOODGATE / FURNITURE AND LIGHTING DESIGNER “I never thought I would use gemstones, but I recognised that they could be interesting if cut into pure geometric shapes with a hidden setting to hold the very pure and hemispherical gem. Like this the true beauty of the gem is revealed. I then realised that only way I could get this right was to go and see the gemstone cutters and setters in Jaipur, India.� - Terence Woodgate Ring: rhodium plated solid sterling silver with citrine gemstone. THIEF KNOT BY HANNAH MARTIN / JEWELLERY DESIGNER “It looks very much like a reef knot but the loose ends are on opposite sides. This way, if a thief had been through someone’s kit they would always know, as the intruder would re-tie it in the more common reef knot. ARÊTE BY TOMOKO AZUMI / INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER “An image I had at the beginning of this project was from the title of the brand, Eiger. It was an illustrated Finsteraarhorn on a Swiss postage stamp, which represents a simplified visual interpretation of ‘upheaval’, a disturbance that is created by the movement of the earth’s crust and also by the carving by the glacier. Then we started to look at folding papertechniques to repeat this idea of ‘when you press both ends of material and the middle goes higher’ phenomenon. VALENCIA BY ALBA BAYONA / INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER Alba’s design for Eiger is the result of a collaboration with her father Antonio Bayona, a high-end jewellery maker with 45 years’ experience, from whom she learned everything she knows about jewellery. “We focused on creating a minimalist way of attaching the pendant to the chain. We wanted something simple, something invisible. We explored new jewellery making techniques to overcome what seemed like the impossible challenge of having a curved tunnel through a seamless pendant.” - Alba Bayona Rhodium plated solid sterling silver hoops and necklace.
