PAREL VALLEI:MOST SOUGHT AFTER AREA

Exclusive residential development Local real estate circles are abuzz with the news of an exclusive new opportunity for discerning buyers in a historic corner of Somerset West. Located in Parel Vallei, one of the town’s oldest, most eminent suburbs, Silverwood Close is an upmarket residential development comprised of eight elegant, modern homes. “There really is nothing like this available anywhere else in the vicinity. It represents a huge opportunity to own a wonderful home at the top end of the market in a secure, tranquil enclave, and in one of the Helderberg’s most sought-after residential areas,” says Andrea Robertson of Paladin Development SA, who is heading up the project. “Naturally it’s also an incredible investment opportunity for savvy buyers.” Very close to some of the area’s most reputable schools and the Helderberg Nature Reserve, Silverwood Close is also in excellent proximity to a plenitude of boutique shopping opportunities, award-winning wine estates and eateries, and child and dog-friendly parks and recreational areas. The site for the new development is between the iconic tree-lined Parel Vallei Road extending across to Bulties Way. Properties will be accessed from the latter road. Project architects, Martina Le RouxCloete and Anneen Botha-Bohmer, from Dennis Moss Partnership, describe the architectural style of the development as a “contemporary interpretation of regional Cape architecture.” “Silverwood Close will have all the luxury of modern living combined with the charm, beauty and singular aesthetic appeal of the Old Cape. Our intention is to use the traditional elements derived from regional Cape architecture, such as the proportions, simplicity, scale, massing, traditional plan form,

vertical proportions, human scale, detailing and colours in a unique yet cohesive manner, which will complement the location’s so-called genius loci, or unique ‘spirit of place’,” Le Roux-Cloete explains. Homes have also been designed so that the living spaces and bedrooms predominantly face north wherever possible. In addition, the articulation of the building form (traditional, letter-of-thealphabet designs), the architects inform us, creates tranquil private courtyard spaces which encourage courtyard living. Here, large window and door openings will enhance a seamless fusion between indoor and outdoor space. High ceilings and open trusses in lounges also form an integral part of home designs, helping to create a feeling of space and openness, while covered porches will allow for all-weather outdoor entertainment. Le Roux-Cloete says: “Residents can make the most of their spacious, sheltered verandahs and private courtyards and will also have the option to build swimming pools, while their wine rooms can be fitted out to specification to store private collections.” “Our landscape architect has created a singular design for private gardens as well as communal areas within the development, boasting striking focal features such as water fountains, low walls, and a pergola. In conjunction with refined landscaping that includes the use of indigenous plants and trees, the estate will exude a uniquely genteel character,” Botha-Bohmer continues. According to Robertson the estate will also be fitted with discreet security features, including access control and electric fencing. Silverwood Close is a Paladin SA and Manor Homes project that will be exclusively marketed by Pam Golding and Fine & Country Helderberg in conjunction with G Studio Branding Agency.
