Isaac Newton was the first to accurately define the relationship between the mass of a body m, the force applied to it F and the acceleration a (rate of change of the velocity) caused by this force. The acceleration is linearly proportional to the net force applied, that is, the sum of all forces on the object. In this experiment you will explore the relationship between force and acceleration. You will use the force of gravity to accelerate a cart along a track. The acceleration will be measured with the aid of a Rotary Motion sensor.
