Around the world, whether it is state enforced, or child trafficking, millions of children face severe exploitation in the cotton industry. In Uzbekistan, the world’s 3rd largest exporter of cotton, roughly a third of the population are forced to work in conditions near slavery for the state run cotton industry.

Many are children. Schools across the country are shut down for the cotton harvest as children from the age of 7 work for weeks in the fields, paid little or nothing, often using pesticides so hazardous they result in the death of 20,000 farmers globally, every year.

“We are all becoming increasingly aware of what surrounds us and the effects of the ‘mass productions’ of our time. We need to address how it effects people, often children, who are forced into this simply by having no other choices available to them. I wanted to make this t-shirt to help those poor innocent children with no way out, no dreams of their own and in order to highlight the chronic and severe exploitation across the industry.”
