Best Books of 2019, OEPLI RIGHTS SOLD TO ENGLISH (Greystone Books) AND FRENCH (Didier Jeunesse) Alfredo Soderguit Born in Rocha, Uruguay in 1973. He studied Arts in Universidad de la República and Art Direction in Escuela de Cine de Uruguay. He directed the animated film Anina which was dubbed in Russian, French and Portuguese and received over 20 recognitions around the world. As an illustrator he has participated in more than 50 books, his work has been selected for the Bratislava Biennale and the Bologna Book Fair Illustrator’s Exhibition. In 2019 he received the Children’s Literature Illustration Award of Uruguay in the Single Picture category.
Pep Molist Was born in Manlleu, Catalunya in 1965. He’s a writer, librarian and children’s books specialist. He has written more than 60 books and has been awarded with different recognitions such as Premi Crítica Serra d’Or. He collaborates with Faristol magazine and El País.

Mandana Sadat Born in Brussels in 1971, she was raised in France. She studied Illustration at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. Her work has been selected for the Illustrators Exhibition in Bologna Book Fair several times and has received recognitions such as Prix Chrétien de Troyes, Prix France Télévision and the CANIEM Award in Mexico.
LA BANDERA DE AMALIA Amalia is the best seamstress in town, as everyone knows. So it’s only natural that they put her in charge of sewing the town’s flag for the upcoming festivities, but making a flag is quite a responsibility. One flag after the other, Amalia meets with an out-of-the-ordinary solution for everyone.

Raúl Romero Was born in Lima, Perú in 1961. He’s a well known musician and was the frontman for the Peruvian pop rock band Nosequién y los Nosecuántos. After 25 years with his band he produced two solo records. He was the host of different high rating tv shows. Ramón París Born in Venezuela, he studied Journalism and works in illustration and animation. He has been invited to give lectures and workshops in Mexico, Spain and the United States. His books have been selected in the White Ravens List and translated to different languages. He currently lives in Barcelona.

Adolfo Córdova Born in Veracruz, México in 1983, he’s a journalist, writer and researcher. He did a Master’s Degree in Children’s Literature in UAB, Barcelona. His books have been selected in the White Ravens List and he received the Juan de la Cabada Children’s Book Award. He runs a blog specialized in children’s literature called Linternas y Bosques.

Juan Palomino Was born in Mexico City in 1984. He studied Philosophy in UNAM and is a very prolific illustrator. For his work he won the fourth edition of Catálogo Iberoamericano de Ilustración in Guadalajara and the Bologna Book Fair - Fundación SM Illustration Prize. He started his own Illustration teaching program in UNAM.

Pep Bruno Was born in Barcelona in 1971. He studied Literature Theory and Comparative Literature in Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He’s a narrator, writer and specialist. He writes reviews and specialized content in children’s literature in his blog.
Eva Sánchez Gómez Born in Puigcerdà, Girona in 1986. She studied Fine Arts and Illustration in Barcelona. Her work has been released by different publishers including Planeta, Edelvives and Acapulco. In 2016 she received the CCEI Illustration Award.
Rocío Martínez Born in 1966 in Madrid, she studied Engraving. Her work was selected in the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition in 1997 and 2001. She has received several recognitions, among them A la orilla del viento Picture Book Award.

Rafael Rubio He’s an academic, poet and dog admirer. He received the Pablo Neruda award in 2008. He has published several poetry books and his poems have been translated into different languages.
Verónica Uribe Was born in Santiago de Chile. She studied Journalism in Universidad de Chile and then in Universidad Central de Venezuela. In 1978 she founded Ediciones Ekaré along with Carmen Diana Dearden. As she returned to Chile she founded Ediciones Ekaré Sur. In 2017, IBBY Chile gave her the Life Achievement Medal for her 40 year career devoted in children’s books publishing.
Scarlet Narciso Born in Cumaná, Venezuela and raised in Miami, USA. She returned to her native country to study Design. Since then she has combined her work as a designer with her passion for photography, poettry, bookbinding, screenprinting and engraving.

Andrea Mahnke Was born in Penco, in Southern Chile and studied Arts in Universidad de la Concepción. She specialized in children’s books illustration in EINA, Barcelona. María Eugenia Manrique Born in Caracas, Venezuela. She studied Arts in Mexico and specialized in xylography and engraving. She also studied painting in Nankin, China and calligraphy in Japan. She won several awards and has exhibited her work around the world.
Alex Nogués Born in Barcelona in 1976. He’s an hydrogeologist and has also worked as a palaeontologist. On the side he writes children’s literature and makes photo books. He was shortlisted for the Laurel Award in 2013. Sonia Pulido Sonia Pulido lives and works in a little town by the sea called El Masnou, in Spain. She’s an illustrator and works mainly for papers and magazines such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, El País, Boston Globe. She loves to illustrate but sometimes dreams of escaping and doing conceptual gardening.
Ramón París Born in Venezuela, he studied Journalism and is devotedly dedicated to illustration and animation. He currently lives in Barcelona.
