The Campaign for Eastern Kentucky University Libraries:
A SPACE REINVENTED
IMAGINE
· Reinventing a dated, high-traffic lobby spanning 8,000 square feet. · Using students’ creativity to construct the environment they need to be the most successful. · Providing a revitalized space ready for students to collaborate, design, invent, explore, and succeed.
The Main Lobby of the John Grant Crabbe Main Library was designed in 1994 as a place for greeting people, on the cusp of when the internet would forever change the way we teach and learn. And after researching use patterns in 2015, Campus Master Planners determined an additional 70,000 square feet is needed to accommodate and meet the changing needs of the growing student body.
I love the Main Library’s atmosphere. The energized vibe of students in the Main Lobby helps me to be productive. -Jake Gibson, ‘17

I study at the Library because it is my favorite place on campus! The environment is friendly and productive. I am honestly not sure I would be as successful academically without it. Whitney Housley, ‘18
