Our Impact

We work with highly vulnerable women who live in poverty stricken regions of the world. Our programs empower women with the resources to rise above poverty forever. Empowering women to transform their families, communities and the developing world.

Our Model

We provide jobs to women so they can meet their present family needs. We educate them so they develop beyond the need for outside aid. We provide mentorship to help each lady plan a unique and sustainable career path for the future.

CAMBODIA - The hub of activity- sewing, cutting, screen-printing, and more. This artisan group specializes in creating beautiful pieces out of eco-friendly materials, such as remnant jersey and naturally dyed, hand-loomed cotton. EHTIOPIA - Farmers supply bead makers with artillery shells (from former war conflicts) that are found on their lands. Through traditional techniques passed down for generations, the village artisans melt these shells down to produce handmade, delicate beads. KENYA - The women of this tribe started a jewelry making business to fund the local primary school, and have become the main income generators of their tribe. Using traditional Maasai techniques and designs, they apply these skills that have been passed down for generations to our exclusive designs. PAKISTAN - These talentend women have incredible hand-embroidery skills, but have lacked the opportunity to work because many of them are living in refugee camps and the local economy does not have enough demand to support their efforts. INDIA - Paper from scalloped archways, behind the narrow streets of Northern India, printing presses stamp delicate images on handmade, recycled paper; wood that is hidden away in Northern India is a village sustained by the wood working industry; our herbal soaps are handcrafted high in the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India; silk from plants and flowers are used to create beautiful prints in our silk apparel collection; totes are made from organic cotton or natural jute.

Our Mission

Sseko Designs uses fashion to provide employment and scholarship opportunities to women pursuing their dreams and overcoming poverty.

Our Impact

To date, we have enabled 47 women to continue their education. We provide employment (along with access to a comprehensive social impact program) to our team of 50 women in Uganda. And we do it all through a financially self-sustaining model.

Our Story

Sseko Designs is a fashion brand based in Uganda. In addition to handbags and accessories, we make beautiful leather sandals with interchangeable fabric straps that can be styled in hundreds of ways. Sseko began as a way to generate income for high potential, talented young women to continue on to university. By creating an environment of dignity, honor and dedication, Sseko Designs provides the opportunity for women in East Africa to end the cycle of poverty and create a more equitable society. We believe that every woman has a dream. When she has the opportunity to pursue those dreams, we are collectively walking towards a brighter and more just and beautiful world.
