Julie Madly Deeply

“An exquisite gem of a play”

Adored by millions, Dame Julie Andrews is a genuine legend of entertainment. But do Mary Poppins or Maria Von Trapp long to let their hair down at the end of a hard day? Songs from musicals including “Mary Poppins”, “The Sound of Music” and “My Fair Lady” are intertwined with stories and anecdotes about Andrews’ own life, from her beginnings as a child star to the recent challenges of losing her famous singing voice.

Nomad Theatre Network in association with Decadent Theatre Company

The Irish Times

Set in a small town cobbler’s shop, four shoe-makers make the mundane marvellous as they transform themselves nightly into “The Cavalcaders”, a singing quartet that prides itself on harmony, comic patter and romantic sentiment. This is the story of a group of men who spend their days mending shoes and their nights as a barbershop quartet and singers of local legend. Their musical harmonies, however, are not reflected in their private lives. Directed by Andrew Flynn, “The Cavalcaders” is a wonderful memory play that explores the complexity of human relationships. With a beautiful musical score, the play is both moving and entertaining as Billy Roche examines how men relate to men and to women.

Mote Park, A Time and A Place

An OrdinarY Man BEEZNEEZ THEATRE COMPANY

A new documentary, focusing on the landscape, architecture, biodiversity and history of Roscommon’s Mote Park, beloved by locals though relatively unknown nationally. Produced by Roscommon-based Mimar Media, this film chronicles some of the history of the area, introduces viewers to its vibrant raw beauty and diverse wildlife, interviews those with stories to tell and meets with the major stakeholders of its resources to ask them of their plans for this hidden treasure.

Follow the life journey of a simple sawyer through births, deaths and marriages with a bit of football and ballroom dancing thrown in for good measure. Funny and heart-breaking in equal measure, we ultimately realise that whilst there may be an ordinary man, there is no such thing as an ordinary life.
