THE NEW HANDLE-FREE SIEMATIC SIEMATIC PRESENTS A NEW CONCEPT FOR PURIST KITCHEN DESIGN When it was first presented in 1960, it revolutionized kitchen design and function: the handle-free SieMatic. In 1988, it was once again celebrated as an avant-garde vanguard. Today, the handle-free kitchen has become the design standard. Have all the aesthetic and technical challenges for this design already been mastered? Can such an iconic design be reinvented? The answer comes from the inventors themselves – with the “New Handle-Free SieMatic.” The tasks they had set themselves were: How can the front appear even more streamlined and delicate? How can the grip become even more comfortable, with a unique design? The result is a concept that reinforces the company‘s decades-long leading position in international kitchen design. The central design detail is the completely redeveloped SieMatic recessed grip channel: decisive simplicity on the outside, and a complex interplay of technical ingenuity, craftsmanship and superior materials on the inside. This innovation was only made possible by the perfect angle, the ideal feel and an individually controllable lighting system - the LED light strip integrated into the shadow gap. This innovative recessed grip is the basis of an intelligent overall concept that combines three design elements: Transparency, light and three-dimensionality. The result is a design that will once again be formative not only for the SieMatic PURE style collection, but for an entire generation of kitchens. The “New Handle-Free SieMatic” will be presented to an international trade audience at SieMatic Forum 2018 from September 15 to 20 at the “August-Wilhelm Siekmann-Forum” in Löhne, East Westphalia. It will be available in stores starting in 2019, the year in which SieMatic celebrates its 90th anniversary.

A sensory journey for your enjoyment and health The massage feature on Kohler’s whirlpool baths is: • A major innovation: an especially comfortable headrest, with an integrated waterfall, relieves your spine and the base of your neck.
Kohler whirlpool baths are equipped with a quiet blower, an acoustics kit and sound insulating panels (optional on the Plus system). The water temperature is a determining factor in the benefit you obtain from the whirlpool: • Models in the Excellence line have an integrated water reheater.
It means: A full back massage, thanks to 4 back jets, a foot massage with 2 foot jets, and a full body massage thanks to air injectors at the bottom of the bath and side jets. Today eight out of ten French people suffer or will suffer from back pain during their lives (Source: INPES). In addition to: • The enjoyment and benefits of gentle, customized chromatherapy: An ultra-bright LED spotlight pleasantly colors the water; each massage programme has a specific color selection. • Invisible injectors at the bottom of the bath, exclusively by Kohler, along with jets, suction inlet and integral keypad – all flush with the surface - provide each whirlpool with its own personality.
A sensory journey in perfect simplicity • All it takes is a touch to the backlit keypad to select the programme you want, easily and intuitively. • • Up to four programmes to choose from: Gentle and quiet (Silence), Energizing (Tonic), Relaxing (Relax) and Draining (Wave), with its own colored sequence each time. A sensory journey without a worry • The assured safety of a French-made product (our Troyes plant) which explains the 4-year guarantee on all new Kohler whirlpool baths, whether it applies to parts, labor or service call. • Ease of installation, thanks to the self-supporting frame; easy care, thanks to the flush injectors and suction inlet.
• Regardless of the model or system, the bather is guaranteed to enjoy a massage sequence in absolute quiet, thanks to the Silence Programme. Available Exclusively at

GEESA IS RIGHT ON TREND WITH ُإلأTHE SERIES OF BLACK BATHROOM ACCESSORIES Black it is! Black tiles, black walls and frames, black washbasins and black taps; the use of black elements in bathrooms is an obvious trend, in which traditional white and chrome are replaced by black accents. Geesa will market its successful Nemox collection, which is currently available in chrome and brushed stainless steel, in a stylish matt variant; the Nemox Black. This Nemox collection is taut and austere; the matt black finish provides the collection with a twist of mystery, and the contrast created results in an exciting bathroom design. The high-quality Nemox Black collection is made from stainless steel with a matt and deep black finish. Black is trendy! The subdued and matt black Nemox Black collection by Geesa is entirely contemporary. Despite its modest design, however, the accessories appeal because the matt black colour ensures a mysterious and exciting contrast in any bathroom.
Design trends The taut and austere Nemox Black accessories perfectly suit the trend of minimalist bathrooms: a powerful and unadorned design with straight lines and a univocal language of form. In addition, the black accessories are perfect to be included in other design trends, such as in the use of natural materials and plants in bathrooms, because black combines easily with wood, natural stone and green, as well as white.
High-quality collection The Nemox Black accessories are made from stainless steel with a matt and deep black finish. The Black collection includes a towel ring, bath grip, wall towel holders, toilet brush holder, hooks and a toilet paper holder with or without a cover. A very special addition to this collection is the matt black shaving mirror; a round mirror with one arm that can be attached to the wall and magnifies three times.

MILAN DESIGN WEEK: MARAZZI PRESENTS THE NEW GRANDE 2018 COLLECTION @ THE TILE CLUB
For Milan Design Week 2018, Marazzi presents The Tile Club, a temporary space designed by Matteo Cibic with Studio Blanco for the launch of the new Grande 2018 collection of slabs. Inspired by London’s Gentleman’s Clubs, The Tile Club is open to anyone interested in ceramics as an artistic and architectural form and has been designed throughout using the new slabs in the Marazzi Grande 2018 collection: new sizes – 160x320 cm and 162x324 cm – new thickness of 12 mm as alternative to 6 mm, new looks inspired by the finest marbles, the tactile personality of concrete and the mineral allure of metal, are all now presented alongside Grand Carpet, the collection signed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, which provides the complete wall coverings for the café and wunderkammer, two of the Club’s five rooms.
A lobby, an open central lounge and a bistro complete The Tile Club, a space created by Marazzi together with the designers as a unique experience, rich in inspirations, special performances and live ceramic decoration sessions, open to the public until June 2018. Matteo Cibic is an Italian designer, winner of many awards, famous for his objects with hybrid functions and amusing, anthropomorphic forms. Cibic designs on the large and small scale, and is equally happy to collaborate with companies and collectors: his works are on display in galleries, museums and institutions all around the world. In 2017 he won the Elle Decor International Young Talent of the Year award.

PAVILION
UK PAVILION SHANGHAI CHINA The UK Pavilion has been designed by Heatherwick Studio. Led by the internationally-acclaimed Thomas Heatherwick, his design team won the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) commission to create the Pavilion following a competition that attracted a shortlist of ambitious architectural proposals from other teams led by Zaha Hadid Architects, John McAslan + Partners, Marks Barfield Architects, Avery Associates, and DRAW Architects with dcmstudios. The Seed Cathedral is made from a steel and timber composite structure pierced by 60,000 fibre optic filaments, 20mm square in section, which pass through aluminium sleeves. The holes in the 1 metre thick wood diaphragm structure forming the visitor space inside the Seed Cathedral were drilled with great geometric accuracy to ensure precise placement of the aluminium sleeves through which the optic fibre filaments are inserted. This was achieved using 3D computer modelling data, fed into a computer controlled milling machine.

UK PAVILION IN MILAN The UK’s immersive hive World Expo pavilion simulates a real live beehive. Nottingham-based artist Wolfgang Buttress teamed up with designer and engineer Tristan Simmonds to create the pavilion, which is designed to resemble a giant beehive at the centre of a wildflower meadow. Architectural practice BDP and construction and manufacturing firm Stage One were part of the team that helped build the project. The theme Grown in Britain and Northern Ireland, aims to raise global awareness of and provide innovative solutions to one of the most pressing challenges of our time – how to feed and sustain an expected rise in the world’s population to nine billion by 2050. According to the design team, visitors to the pavilion “follow the dance of a bee” through a series of different landscapes. The journey begins at small group of trees, leading to an entrance corridor that features displays with information about the lifecycle of bees and their role in pollinating food crops.

Serpentine Gallery Pavilion
at Kensington Gardens, London, United Kingdom Designed by Toyo Ito and Cecil Balmond - with Arup Photograph Š Sylvain Deleu Toyo Ito, recipient of the Pritzker Prize 2013, along with Cecil Balmond and Arup were in charge of the design of the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion back in 2002. What appeared to be an extremely complex random pattern was in fact derived from an algorithm of a cube that expanded as it rotated. The intersecting lines formed different triangles and trapezoids, whose transparency and translucency gave a sense of infinitely repeated motion.

ICD/ITKE RESEARCH PAVILION The Institute for Computational Design (ICD) and the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) at the University of Stuttgart have completed a research pavilion that is entirely robotically fabricated from carbon and glass fibre composites. The structure of the pavilion was based on their research into the complex layers and load-bearing efficiency of a lobster’s exoskeleton, which is made up of layers of chitin – a derivative of glucose – embedded in a protein matrix. The resulting isotropic fibre structure allows a uniform load distribution in every direction. On the other hand, areas which are subject to directional stress distributions exhibit a unidirectional layer structure, displaying an anisotropic fibre assembly which is optimized for a directed load transfer. Due to this local material differentiation, the shell creates a highly adapted and efficient structure. The abstracted morphological principles of locally adapted fibre orientation constitute the basis for the computational form generation, material design and manufacturing process of the pavilion.

THIS IS WHAT THE UAE PAVILION AT DUBAI EXPO 2020 WILL LOOK LIKE The building has been designed to represent a falcon in flight… Dubai is about to get a new icon, with construction work to begin this month on the UAE Pavilion for Dubai World Expo 2020. The winning design from renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava was unveiled in May last year, after a seven-month design competition that saw entries from some of the world’s best architectural firms. Calatrava’s submission was modelled on the wings of a falcon – the UAE’s national bird. It’s not the architect’s first bird-inspired design – his World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York was designed to look like the wings of a dove.
THE MADAFA PAVILIONS Curators of the MADAFA pavilion; Arini discuss their approach to architecture and urbanism as well as their transdisciplinary projects. They are joined in conversation by the designers Rasem Kamal and Saja Nashashibi to present the vision behind the pavilion, its design, form, and content. Woven throughout the events of Amman Design Week is a carefully curated cultural program and culinary experience. The MADAFA pavilions, developed by Arini, provide a gathering space for an immersive experience in urban cuisine, hospitality, and culture.
