• Set a fluency goal for your reading .

• Read aloud to your par tner. Your partner is listening to you and preparing to give you feedback on your fluency goal reading.

Listener:

Listen to your partner read and prepare to give feedback on the goals chosen.

Did your partner:

• read accurately?

• read taking notice of punctuation?

• read with intonation?

• read with good phrasing?

• provide stress or emphasis as required?

Listener:

Ask your partner to retell what they read.

Did your partner:

• retell all the main par ts?

• explain in their own words?

Reader:

Assess your fluency using the criteria above. Discuss how you went with your partner and set a specific goal for your next session.

Now, swap roles – the reader now becomes the listener.
