PERSONAL
PROFILE
–
Employers scan CV” s in seconds so its important to grab their attention so they will read more. They need to see your skills will resonate with the company and the role you’re applying for. Should stand out try to make it punchy. Be confident this should be a summary of who you are and your work ethic. Keep it professional, clean, simple and modern.
8
INCLUDE
YOUR
SKILLS
–
Create a simple list of specific skills that will set you apart from the competition. Make sure to include Mac skills as most fashion companies will use Macs not PCs. State your skills in Adobe software such as photoshop, InDesign, Premier pro. Join LinkedIn. Sign up to job recruitment sights. Use Instagram to get your ideas and create influence. The ability to use and communicate creative content via social media is an important skill set.
9
EXPERIENCE
-
List whatever experience you have if you lack fashion related experience. Employers in the industry are looking for a diverse wide range of skill set in most cases. Always start with your most recent experience and then include other experiences working down to the oldest with a maximum of three job experiences. Include qualifications and certificates that are fundamental for the job role.
10
APPEARANCE
–
Keep the font simple, avoid typewriter fonts - use a modern font. Use bold headings and include bullet points, this will ensure you don’t include unnecessary amounts of information. - Don’t go overboard on the design - Use 1-2 colours that look effective - Think about the type of design that fits the company your applying for and tailor this to suit them.
11
12
Planning The Appearance of My CV I want my CV to look modern and easy to follow. I began researching example CVs and found a few I felt resonated with me and took ideas from each one, to create my own design. I will add picture symbols using Photoshop to make it look more detailed and easier to follow for my contact details and socials, so these can be easily seen. I will include an image of myself that looks professional, this will help to build my brand and will project a trustworthy and approachable asset.

My Final CV Template This is Final design of my CV, currently the design suits me however, I plan to tailor my CV to suit different companies/ the role’s that I apply for and make it stand out. I also felt it was important for my CV to fit onto one page with just the most important information to catch industried attention, as well as baring in mind how many other CV’s they have to read, therefore i wanted to keep it short but also professional. I included the suggestions made by Jen, such as hyperlinking my socials, giving the industry quick access to see my work that is currently on Issuu as well as my FMC Instagram and access to my LinkedIn.

Social media manager interview questions. What does engagement mean to you? This is where employers want to know if connecting with an audience is a priority to you. You should explain how social media is a tool to connect with both a target audience and users from different backgrounds. Give examples of how you use different platforms to engage with your audience. What is your preferred tool for scheduling posts? Why? This would be asked by employers to help determine if you have a background using different social media tools. There are many tools on the market but think about which has the best features. How did you get into social media? This question would be asked to see if you have a passion for social media. Think about how social media ca benefit brands and state which skills make you an effective social media marketer.
28
Examples of some general questions. How do you keep up with social media trends? What social media influencers or brands do you follow? How would you add value to our social media team? Why are you interested in this role? Why do you want to work for our company? What skills help you be an effective social media manager? What social media tools are you familiar with?

On the top left corner is the cover letter I sent to Jen along with a link to my FMC Instagram which displays my best work, for the social media internship position at MODA PR. Reflecting on this it’s clear for me to see why I didn’t get this position. I didn’t spend enough time on my cover letter and made a few spelling mistakes/ grammar mistakes. I also know it wasn’t creative enough and didn’t stand out I also feel as though I didn’t sell myself enough and could have pushed across more of a passion for the role/ company. Going forward with future roles I will make these improvements to my cover letter being on brand creative wise as well as tailoring the information to suit the role.

On the 10th of March Me and four other girls from the FMC course were completing our placement at Constantine Media. We travelled up to Middlesbrough where we met the small team, which is the Managing Director Michael Harvey, James who works alongside Michael as a managing director and Deena Walker creative director. We went for lunch and discussed what each of us had put in the audit going around discussing their clients and bringing our ideas to the table, this was a great way to share ideas and see what I might have missed from the other girls and learnt new social media marketing strategies. The office was based in Teesside university were Deena completed her masters where she came across this opportunity. During my placement I will be working alongside Deena and taking some of the workload and gaining a real insight into the social media marketing industry.

Deena later surprised us with an exciting shoot we could go to alongside with her, which was at a local Coffee Shop called Milk & Grind. The shoot was content creation for Milk & Grinds Instagram page. Before we went pictures of the day down there Deena gave us a briefing of their intentions with the shop and what they want to market. We met two of the workers there and got to hear from them what they wanted on their Instagram, their looking to widen their customers and bring the younger generation that is gen Z into the shop, whilst letting us be as creative as we wanted which was fun.

This week I had an email from Deena, that unfortunately Milk & Grind had fallen into financial difficulty and could no longer pay for Constantine Media’s Services. Experiencing clients changing is something that happens within this industry, so this has prepared me for when I step into the industry in the future and seeing the downside and the ups of what goes on has given me an insight to what the industry is like. On a positive note, Deena thought my Trend Analysis was fantastic and wanted me to replicate a similar trend analysis for Constantine’s Instagram which I will now be working on instead of Milk & Grinds.

This week I created co ntent for Constantine’s Instagram. With them moving into a bigger office Deena wanted m e to create a post abou t this for their Instagra m showing the office and how it’s only a sm all move next door bu t a huge move for the business. I also create d content for national da ys that are upcoming such as world cocktail day which is significat e as one of their clients Luna Blu is a Bar and would be great to m arket their cocktails on their Instagram. World Bee Day is another day coming up as well as national creativity day which was exciting as I got to be as creative as I wanted with this post but keeping it on brand with Constantine’s Inst agram. I found mysel f over thinking the grap hics and whether it was good enough for their In stagram, so to solve this I decided to create a few posts for each national day that Deena could choose the best from .
