with India in the technology transfer. During the Prime Minister’s visit, Japan made a commitment of $3 Trillion in the next 5 years towards infrastructure development. India has a bright future and Japanese companies would like to participate in this development and growth within India. We are happy to participate at the World of Concrete show to underline our commitment towards development in India”.

The volume of construction is also going to increase and unless we adopt these new techniques and methods, we will not be able to deliver. While we have the potential, we must ensure

that we tap into this potential and ensure that we do not let it go to waste”.

According to Niti Aayog, the Indian real estate sector is expected to continue its upward trajectory and is expected to reach a market size of $1 Trillion by 2030 and will account for 13% of India’s GDP by 2025. The construction output in the country is also expected to reach INR 60,508.9 billion by 2026. Schemes such as the revolutionary Smart City Mission are expected to improve the quality of life through modernized tech driven urban planning. Therefore, the construction industry is also adopting digital technology solutions to boost productivity and remain ahead of the competition.

World of Concrete India is set to play an important role as it not only provides opportunity to engage and connect with practitioners but also provide the attendees with knowledge of best practices and problem-solving strategies through collaboration and educational seminar sessions. CM

E x CELLENCE IN THE LIGHTING SECTO r

Following the grand success of LED Expo India, Light + LED Expo India is all set to raise its curtains from 3 – 5 November 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. During the three-day fair, over 175 brands, including leading lighting and component manufacturers like Syska LED, iTvis, Utkarsh Pipes, Cygnus Lighting, Crescent Opto, Uniglobus (Polycab), LC Tech, Dominar,, Rabyte, Fulham, Semiconic, Componix, and Juki India will unveil their latest advancements in the presence of architects, interior designers, builders, professionals from construction industry, government agencies, public authorities, ESCOS (Energy Service Companies), as well as distributors and retailers. The event will also attract small and large scale lighting businesses from across the domestic value chain under one roof.

Highlighting the shifting focus towards localised manufacturing and the launch edition of Light + LED Expo India, Mr. Shyam Sujan, Secretary General, ELCOMA, stated: “As far as manufacturing of finished goods is concerned, the entire base has shifted from assembling of lighting to the manufacturing of end products. It is now desired to revive the manufacturing of maximum components and finished products in India. Since the Government’s push for ‘Aatmanirbhar’ with the issuance of PLI Schemes by DPIIT (LED light components) and MEITY (Semiconductors), it is expected that in the next four to five years, India will witness the creation of an ecosystem of component manufacturing thus reducing the dependency on imports. Mr. r aj Manek, Executive Director and Board Member, Messe Frankfurt Asia Holding Ltd, underlined the significance of the exhibition: “Light + LED Expo India will induce business interactions of an unprecedented scale.

It will provide a perfect platform for local lighting manufacturers to showcase their extensive technological capabilities before local and global industry players. We are confident that it will have a burgeoning impact in the progress of India’s domestic lighting sector.”

“Building a localised supply chain is the ultimate pathway to India’s ascent as a global lighting technology hub and through our mega trade fair launch we strongly aim to support the lighting industry in this pursuit,” Mr Manek further remarked.

LED lights and the invention of smart and energy-efficient lighting systems as a whole have become an integral part of modern infrastructure, majorly contributing to industry demand. However, the dearth of domestic semiconductor manufacturers has continued to be a major drawback to the massive growth potential of the Indian lighting sector. With a PLI scheme of INR 76,000 Crore, the Indian government is currently working towards the development of semiconductors fab units and upscaling domestic production capacity within India.

Poised to be the most anticipated lighting exhibition in India, Light + LED Expo India 2022 will highlight India’s potential to become the world’s most lucrative lighting market. CM

Ozonetel Unveils First-of-its-kind Contact Center Platform on WhatsApp

Organizations can now set up complete contact center operations on WhatsApp, achieve a fivefold increase in customer engagement, and drive down costs by over 75%

r eleaseOzonetel, a leading omnichannel customer communication platform provider, has launched a new full-featured Contact Center-as-a-Service (CCaaS) platform on WhatsApp. With this platform, organizations can set up complete contact center operations using WhatsApp and drive down their cost of operations by over 75%. Businesses can expect to increase the number of customer engagements that contact center agents handle by 5X and enhance their omnichannel customer experience far more efficiently.

With Ozonetel’s CCaaS platform on WhatsApp, businesses can orchestrate their end-to-end customer communication flow on a unified, homogeneous platform instead of managing different AI, cloud telephony, and chat solutions. They will have access to all the contact center features required to personalize customer communications at scale, including virtual numbers, automatic call distribution, interactive chat response systems, bots, and more. Brands can leverage the investments they have incurred on advertising their toll-free number and continue to use the same number for WhatsApp messages from customers. They can receive calls and WhatsApp messages on the same number and allow the same agents to handle those conversations.

Ozonetel’s CCaaS platform has inbuilt AI capabilities that can automate conversations and enable contact center

agents to handle multiple WhatsApp conversations at a time resulting in a 400% increase in customer engagements per agent and a 70-80% decrease in queue times. Organizations can choose a combination of bots, chat agents, and voice agents to provide their customers with a host of options.

Additionally, customers can directly connect with relationship managers, counselors, delivery partners, field sales teams, or their account managers via WhatsApp on the same masked caller ID they use to contact them via phone. Organizations can further track these conversations in real-time and get detailed engagement statistics via dashboards and reports. Ozonetel’s CCaaS platform can integrate seamlessly with almost any existing CRM solution and deliver close to 95% customer satisfaction for self-service solutions implemented on WhatsApp.

Speaking on occasion, Chaitanya Chokkareddy, Chief Product Officer, Ozonetel, said, “Customer demand for rich two-way conversations has increased exponentially over the past few years. Ozonetel’s CCaaS platform on WhatsApp will effectively address the advanced messaging needs of businesses and their customers. This is powered by Ozonetel’s CloudAgent platform that handles over 2 billion conversations a year and powers 100,000+ contact center agents. We are excited to introduce a whole new dimension to contact center communication and management.”

It’s nothing new for mines to use modern technology to increase productivity. Most of the leading mining companies have already taken some steps toward going digital, most notably by investing in autonomous and IoT-based technology. But just about 10% of the mining industry is made up of the major, innovative businesses who are moving forward, which means that the other 90% are still lagging behind. The persistent use of manual and/or cabled readings rather than wireless systems connected to digital mining assets is a key sign of the industry’s resistance to digitization. Indeed, there are still a lot of institutional obstacles to novel ideas like wireless readings, not the least of which is mining’s reputation as a conservative, riskand change-averse sector that discourages investment in potentially “risky” technologies.

Automation advancements have changed the mining sector by boosting productivity, efficiency, and safety. Such innovations are required for the sector to thrive as mines dig deeper, grades get lower, and investors urge businesses to follow global environmental, social, and governance principles.

The productivity, safety, and efficiency of mining operations are all enhanced in a variety of ways by the growing digitalization of mines, which involves not just the adoption of new technologies but also a shift in mining companies’ mindsets to one that is more digital. Companies who lead the way in adopting a digital strategy are better able to locate and map mineral reserves with more accuracy and recoverability, for example, and are better able to manage their workforce and important assets. The mining equipment of today has seen a significant transformation as we enter the

fourth industrial revolution. The mining business is now dominated by contemporary equipment and methods; examples include wearable technology, drones, 3D modelling tools, and artificial intelligence (AI). How is technology influencing mining operations?

For the safe and effective extraction of ore in certain mining zones, some complex orebodies around the world require truly “human-less” operations. Zero entry mining is the practise of not allowing any people to enter the mining area. Zero-entry mining has the potential to turn significant quantities of mineral resources into ore reserves while also significantly increasing the value of marginal or unrecoverable ore deposits. Australia is currently driving the research and implementation of autonomous mining systems, where it has already shown improvements in productivity and safety. At the moment, autonomous solutions are used in value chain segments like trucks and drills, and they were initially built utilising exclusive OEM approaches. The adoption of autonomous mining technologies and, eventually, zero-entry mining systems would be accelerated by the enactment of industrial manslaughter, therefore lowering the number of people exposed to risks. A digital mine is an accurate computer simulation of a mine that includes all machinery and tools used in mining as well as the production procedures. Models, procedures, and tools that support the entire manufacturing process are part of the network. The benefits of a digital mine include continuous and consistent data management, production management, and the subsequent use of engineering processes and technologies. The newly emerging digital mine combines autonomous technology, machine learning, and artificial

intelligence to establish a new Industry 4.0 approach to mining. The use of these digital technologies will be driven by the need for constant improvement in safety, productivity, and efficiency. Significant advancements in mining automation are expected to continue in 2022.

By providing fresh ideas for maintaining mine safety and output, the Internet of Things (IoT), a new network technology built on the fusion of wireless technologies, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and the Internet, has the potential to revolutionise the mining industry.

The technology enables the automatic transmission and reception of data over a network without the need for human-tohuman or human-to-computer contact by creating unique IDs for machines, fleets, and people utilising radio frequency identification devices (RFID) and sensor technologies.

The IoT platform may enhance equipment maintenance, as well as automate and increase traceability and visibility across the whole mining operation. It can also enable computers to watch, recognise, and comprehend various elements of mining operations without human intervention.

Automation : Automation is changing everything in mining, as well as construction and manufacturing, and for good reason. It has been shown to increase efficiency and productivity as well as safety. Automated mining technologies allow site leaders to keep human workers from dangerous tasks.

People working in the industry shouldn’t be worried about “robots” eliminating human jobs any time soon, though.

Mining machines with autonomy have been around for almost 20 years. Many of the major mining companies quickly adopted this strategy, including Caterpillar, Sandvik, Komatsu, and Atlas Copco, which at the moment represent the most forwardthinking and significant competitors in the autonomous mining vehicles market.

Because they made it possible for people to interact with and operate machines remotely

for the first time, these vehicles transformed the mining industry. This makes them perfect for usage in dangerous locations like underground mines and other places where there is a high risk to human safety. Rather than being totally automated, the majority of autonomous mining machines are actually semi-autonomous; as a result, they occasionally still require human assistance. These autonomous subterranean excavation vehicles have tools and cameras that can be operated remotely, enabling users to carry out tasks and view the surroundings from a distance. Today, the emphasis is no longer on developing the original autonomous mining vehicles, but rather on creating the “autonomous mining system,” which can perform tasks automatically or with minimal external control, as well as towards the potential for complete automation through robotic technologies.

Workforce-tracking: Wearable technology advancements make them the perfect tool for mining labour tracking. They are particularly helpful for enhancing operator-based care and safety, particularly for underground mines, as well as field maintenance and real-time machine inspection instructions. Key employees can be found right away thanks to these wearables’ real-time visibility and RFID personnel tracking capabilities. They can also be used to track employee time and attendance records and determine areas where productivity can be improved. Wearables and their function in a wider IoT-based monitoring network greatly speed up response times in the case of an emergency, enhancing worker safety by enabling operators and staff to be notified right away when an incident occurs. By limiting access to potentially hazardous regions of the mine, they can also reduce safety issues and future accidents. Because

workers are more effectively managed and potential events that would cut down on working hours are reduced or even totally avoided thanks to workforce tracking, mining productivity is also increased.

Geospatial Technology: Although geospatial technology is not new, it has a significant impact on mining. It consists of a few interconnected technologies, such as geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing (RS), and global positioning systems (GPS). Since GPS has many consumer applications, even those outside of the mining business are likely already familiar with it. GPS is essential for on-site position tracking in mining.

Operators can gather photos and information about their site from a safe distance using remote sensing, including information on threats that may be difficult or impossible to detect using human senses. Additionally, RS technology is very programmable. There are various camera kinds available to meet the specific requirements of your site. For instance, multispectral imaging costs more but provides clearer, full-color images. Panchromatic imaging, on the other hand, is more cost-effective and provides a larger black-and-white field of view.

Electronic twins: Throughout the asset lifecycle, mining operators have historically found it challenging to maintain engineering and asset information. Digital twins, which are virtual duplicates of physical assets, processes, and systems, can help with this since they show both the fundamental components and the dynamics of the IoT devices employed within the system or location being modeled. Digital twins create real-time, or “living,” digital simulation models that are continuously updated as their actual, physical counterparts, or “twins,” change using AI (artificial intelligence), machine learning, and software analytics with data. To put it simply, digital twins digitize these areas in a way that results in interaction between the actual and the virtual, making them more like real-time “video game” versions of mine.

Enhancing Safety: Technology-based initiatives are a terrific supplement to safety planning for mining operations. An essential component of the global economy and job market is mining. It provides the raw ingredients needed to make countless consumer goods and provide energy to millions of people. Today’s technology makes it possible to provide safe working conditions, which are essential for ensuring that each team member at each mining site is able to perform their job well.

Strategic Intelligence: To create digital twins of mines, operational intelligence (OI) is essential. OI is used by operators who want to digitize certain aspects of their operations in order to collect real-time insights and start their organization’s adoption of data-based decision-making. This translates into digitizing dynamic assets like people, vehicles, and essential assets (slopes, dams, etc.) in mines in order to visualize their behavior, aggregate this information, and produce suggestions using the OI software that is based on historical and real-time insights. Through AI, more specifically

machine learning, these solutions can learn from prior acts and hence enhance their own decision-making.

If certain aspects of the operation exhibit a specific level of anomaly, an OI solution should be able to set off alarms and assist operators in coordinating their activities to boost output. For instance, OI can assist teams to improve the efficacy of their communication methods, such as mobile applications and hand-held devices, in order to increase productivity. OI can also facilitate the real-time monitoring of all of the mine’s many diverse assets to ensure efficiency and safety. OI systems may translate individual pieces of data into broad, practical insights by ingesting data from any data source.

Maps, inspections, and more with drones: Drones are one of the most fascinating new technologies that are reshaping the mining and construction industries. Numerous applications for these robots can significantly raise site safety in mining operations.

Drones, for instance, are frequently used to examine locations that might be hazardous for human inspectors to inspect. The most

advantageous feature drones have to offer is their ability to conduct surveys, which can be used in a variety of ways. Drones can be used to locate trapped personnel in the case of a tunnel collapse without endangering more people. They can also be used as a remote security camera to monitor routine daily activities. Remote drone operators can fly over the job site and scan it for potential dangers or problems.

Drones are capable of more than just carrying cameras. Drones with the appropriate weight capacity can be equipped with sensor packages as a payload. Using sensors, mining teams can scan areas for potential hazards such air pollution that aren’t visible to the naked eye. This makes already priceless remote sensing technology transportable and hence more adaptable.

Drone technology makes it feasible to profit from mines that might otherwise be viewed as being too difficult, dangerous, or time-consuming to reach or examine. As they can operate even when satellite connections are unavailable, drones can also circumvent a GPS technology flaw.

Autonomous haul trucks- enhancing efficiency and safety: Trucks with drivers no longer rely on remote control operators.

Today, sophisticated autonomous vehicles can be programmed to transport ore through hazardous areas of a mine without endangering human operators. Machine operations may function with much less supervision since they are predictable and consistent, and this makes it easier to spot and eliminate possible hazards.

Trackless transportation: Unrestricted mobility: Miners can now move loads up the channel without the use of heavy, expensive, and constrained tracks thanks to advancements like laser guidance and GPS technology.

Wireless Observation: Within the next five years, it is anticipated that the majority of mines will use OI systems to digitize at least a portion of their operations. Additionally, most mines will probably start using a digital

twin of their infrastructure and operations within the next ten years. However, most mines today still need to replace manual or automated cable readings with wireless monitoring systems as their first move toward virtual operations. Dams are an example of a mining asset that is frequently located in difficult-to-access locations, making manual readings by employees risky and time-consuming. Working with non-real-time information can have a significant influence on mining operations since by the time workers gather data and return to the office, it has already become outdated. For instance, the pore water pressure in tailings dams can fluctuate quickly, placing pressure on the infrastructure and potentially leading to dam breaks, frequently with extremely catastrophic consequences. Operators can reduce hazards with cabled readings by automating the data collection procedures. However, putting cables throughout a mine’s infrastructure can be expensive, difficult, and time-consuming, depending on the location.

Compactors are ideal machines for a range of DIY or residential construction projects such as driveways. They are also often used to compact soil in preparation for concrete pouring, footings and trenches. One of the prominent benefits is their ability to increase the load-bearing capacity of a surface. As a result, compactors have become a vital element in road works and residential construction projects. By compacting soil, the ground becomes more stable and more resistant to penetration by tree roots, heavy rains, erosion and flooding.

During compactor operation, the heavy plate on the bottom of the machine rapidly moves up and down. The combination of pressure force and plate weight force ensures that the soil packs together more tightly. Compactors that use this static force, use smooth or padded rollers to knead the earth for enhanced compaction. Conversely, compactors that use vibratory force allow for deeper compaction beneath the ground. Either way, two or four passes over the soil is generally enough to achieve proper compaction.

THE BETTE r WASTE r EDUCTION TH r OUGH THE COMPACTO r

Waste is an unavoidable by-product of most human activity and compactors are used to dispose or to make it compact. Compactors are highly efficient since the amount of energy consumed by a compactor is low. In the current scenario, the major problem is the transportation of waste, which can be used to reduce the volume of waste streams. Hence, the waste remains the same, there will be no savings from the total amount of waste produced. However, savings will occur

because the waste volume will be reduced. The economic development and rising living standards in the Asia Pacific region have led to an increase in the quantity and complexity of generated waste. Countries in this region need compactors to decrease the volume of waste. India and China which are the top two populated countries, produce huge amounts of waste. A large amount of waste is processed by municipalities for which compactors are used.

A QUALITY v IB r ATO r Y SYSTEM IN COMPACTION

Compaction is the single most important process in soil construction. Its job is to reduce the volume of pores in the soil to be compacted which are filled with water and air. Compaction will give the soil the desired properties like its resistance to stresses induced by traffic and climate will be improved by increasing its stability while simultaneously reducing its tendency to swell due to water absorption. The latter will additionally make the soil resistant to frost. Manufacturers are also focusing on coming out with machines that are fuel-efficient and require minimal maintenance all adding to the good news for contractors. With

competition, intensifying suppliers are concentrating on coming out with machines that would ideally suit Indian working conditions where typically these machines would be put through more number of work cycles as compared to the developed world. With articulated and pivot-steered tandem rollers of between 1.5 and 14 t, manufacturers are offering a large range of machines for practically any application in asphalt construction for all markets. This includes double vibration rollers, rollers with vibration and oscillation, combination rollers, vibration rollers with split drums and rollers with split vibration and oscillation drums.

This equipment is compact and has robust performance, and is available of advanced engines and superior power capabilities has led to use of mini excavators, which can perform optimally in small and narrow spaces. Moreover, mini excavators are track mounted and wheel mounted, providing it a greater manoeuvrability.

Rise in popularity of robust and compact construction equipment is the major factor that drives growth of the mini excavator market. In addition, versatile benefits associated with mini excavators such as durability, small size, alternative to heavy construction equipment, and superior manoeuvrability are anticipated to fuel the

demand for mini excavators during the forecast period. In addition, major players are focused on developing fully electric mini excavators for agricultural, landscaping & construction, and other applications, which, in turn, is anticipated to propel growth in the mini excavator’s market.

Significant growth in the construction industry is one of the key factors creating a positive outlook for the market. Excavators are mostly used in large-scale residential and commercial construction, development of roads and ports and mining projects across the globe. Furthermore, the widespread adoption of automated excavators is also driving the market growth. These excavators aid in minimizing labour costs and facilitate remote tracking of operations. Additionally, various product innovations, such as the utilization of fuel cell-based electric motors to power excavators, are acting as other growth-inducing factors. In comparison to a diesel engine, fuel cells are lighter and more efficient, thereby increasing the cabin space for the operator and improving the overall productivity of the machine. to excavator manufacturers and rental companies. The large excavator market segment was about USD 5 billion in 2021. The equipment is used on various construction sites to transport materials. It is deployed across large-scale commercial spaces such as shopping malls for demolishing purposes. The machine is also used by industries to perform different mining and quarrying activities. Robust demand for coal and other minerals will foster the product deployment across the mining sector. The industry revenue share from the forestry & agriculture applications is poised to record a CAGR of nearly 4% between 2022 and 2030. The equipment is used for conducting different agricultural activities such as constructing water supply line, laying down sewage line, or digging trenches. It also has other utilitarian significance such as enabling an ergonomic and efficient removal of trees and stumps from the surface.

How to choose the right Mini Excavator for your project?

The best way to find the right excavator for a project is to plan. Knowing exactly what kind of role the excavator will play on site will help determine what kind of excavator is needed. As a result, your job can actually become more efficient. It can be more efficient for a job to rent size equipment for what is needed instead of trying to make one piece fit for a variety of jobs.

e

The crawler type excavator accounted for over 75% share of the global industry in 2021. The equipment is increasingly used in mining and construction projects. It is preferred for key features such as the ability to offer stronger grade ability in mining projects as well as in muddy areas.

Due to these functionalities as well as strong expansion activities taking place in this sector, the crawler excavator market demand is expected to increase by end of 2030.The excavator business value from the ‘above 6 cubic meters’ bucket capacity sector valued at USD 8.5 billion in 2021. There is a strong demand for high-capacity earthmoving equipment in some industrial and commercial users. The construction and tourism sectors are also encouraging both public as well as private investments in the development of a modern infrastructure for better user experience. Building of commercial infrastructure projects in developing nations will propel the demand for excavators with a bucket capacity of more than 6 cubic meters.

Choosing the right equipment for a digging project can be a time-consuming task, especially since it’s so important to make the right choice. Even once you’ve decided on using an excavator, you still need to make sure you choose the right size. Pick one that’s too small or doesn’t have the right functionality and you won’t be able to get the job done properly. Choose one that’s too large and not only may it be the wrong fit for the job but it could also push you over budget. So how do you decide what excavator size is right for you.

There are so many different types of excavator but they fall into four main size categories: Mini, Midi, Standard, and large. In order to pick the right excavator size, you need to know what your options are –Mini or Compact Excavator

This is the smallest class of excavator and they are particularly useful for fitting into small spaces. Another benefit is that compact excavators are small enough to be hauled using Class 1 and 2 trucks, which in many states don’t require a Commercial Driver’s License (though it’s important to check with your local DMV first to make sure). This level of transportability makes them a favorite among people who are working in multiple locations. Mini excavators are great for indoor projects, sewer repairs, water line installations, and other projects that don’t require the size and power of a larger machine.

Midi Excavator

Midi or mid-sized excavators are a good choice for those who work in small spaces but need more reach and power than a mini excavator can provide. Midis can also be used on more standard projects like building construction and landscaping while still providing the advantage of increased maneuverability thanks to their smaller size.

Standard Excavator

Standard or full-sized excavators, sometimes called “crawler” excavators, make up the largest volume of excavators on the market. The most popular crawler falls in the 19-24-ton range, and this class is most common in commercial construction.

Standard excavators not only offer more power and reach, but their hydraulic systems make them capable of handling multiple tool attachments.

Large Excavators

The largest class of excavators is useful for major construction and demolition projects that require the maximum of power and capacity. Though large excavators are unsurpassed for power, their size comes with major drawbacks – they require oversized trucks and trailers to move and are un widely when it comes time to store them.

Benefits of having Mini excavator

A Smaller, Lighter Heavy Machine

Mini Excavator are smaller and lighter meaning they offer reduced top-ground damage and reduced track marks. Similar to standard excavators, mini excavators are also available with tracks or wheels depending on the nature of a project and terrain of a site.

Beneficial for Busy or Compact Project Sites

The small size of mini excavator makes them more popular for high traffic work sites or for working around other equipment types. Not only can they drive over parking lots with less hassle but are much easier to transport between projects. Even though

they are lighter it is always important to check that a trailer can support the weight of a piece of equipment before loading it.

A Diverse Heavy Machine

Mini excavators are usually used for less intense projects than a standard excavator meaning that they have a longer life span. Just like standard excavators they can be fitted with all types of attachments to diversity their abilities.

Mini Excavators Can Improve Project Efficiency

Renting a mini excavator on a per-project basis can be much more efficient than trying to use one standard-sized excavator for all jobs. Search for mini excavators on DOZR to see the variety of sizes and attachments available near you.

Mini excavators can also be fitted with dozer blades to help them move materials around site. Further, a dozer blade attachment can add a stability factor to the equipment, especially if it’s a wheeled mini excavator.

Mini excavators are tracked or wheeled vehicles with an approximate operating weight from 0.7 to 8.5 tones. It generally includes a standard backfill blade and features an independent boom swing. In recent years, hydraulic excavator capabilities have expanded far beyond excavation tasks. With the advent of hydraulic-powered attachments such as a tilt rotator, a breaker, a grapple, or an auger, the excavator is frequently used in many applications other than excavation.

Advantages of Mini Excavators

One of the primary reasons why many contractors and builders prefer hiring mini excavators as opposed to full-sized ones is because these machines can easily get into small space. These smaller excavators for hire can be transported easily and efficiently. It has become very popular in the construction, industry, housing and infrastructure sectors. This is due to their practically, high performance, reliability, and excellent business values. One of the major

47 October 2022www.constructionmirror.com CONSTRUCTION MIR ROR
www.constructionmirror.com

draws of mini excavators is that you can use them for a slew of different tasks. The sheer number of possible attachments and the light frame are what make the mini excavator such a versatile machine. CM

The trend for Mini Excavators

Despite the pandemic, in FY 21-22 the Mini Excavator market grew by around 30% under the backdrop of sustained Capex in infrastructure by the government. Continued acceleration in investment & execution under the Jal Jeevan Mission was a major impetus to faster growth. In the Union budget presented in February this year, the government reiterated the focus on investment in infrastructure by enhancing Capex to 7.5 Lakh Crores, signifying an increase of nearly 35% YoY. State governments have announced a similar increase in Capex for this fiscal too. The mini excavator segment is by far the fastest-growing category under excavators for several years now.

In terms of capacities, we expect the mini excavator market to continue to grow faster than the overall market with increased mechanization due to labor shortage and shrinking project timelines. This segment will also be supported by increased allocation for the implementation of Har Ghar Jal - rural

water supply program. We also anticipate continued migration from backhoe loaders since these machines have become costlier post the implementation of CEV4 emission norms last year.

Tata Hitachi is a pioneer and a first mover in the compact excavator segment in India. The 2-Ton TMX20 was the first indigenously developed Mini Excavator in India almost two decades back. Apart from this, there are two other models offered, ZX23U and ZX33U. These machines have been designed to offer solutions specially tailored for Indian conditions and meet all local regulations.

The newest addition to the company’s Mini Excavator range is Tata Hitachi NX30, which was unveiled in EXCON 2021. The NX30 is an indigenously developed 3-Ton Mini Excavator.

Tata Hitachi Mini excavators are designed to be used in a wide range of applications suited to cater to Construction, Infrastructure, Agriculture, and Utility equipment needs of our customers. Also, they are compatible with various attachments like Rock breakers, Auger, etc.

An overview of Wheel Loaders

A front-mounted bucket on wheel loaders, which are four-wheel-drive earthmoving vehicles, is used largely to load heavy materials. Raising and lowering the bucket is done by a left-arm assembly. Wheel loaders can produce a lot and have long cycle times thanks to their mobility and larger bucket. Wheel loaders have the extra benefit of being structurally strong.

Since the wheel loader is a mainstay of construction sites, equipment makers are aware of the significance of technological advancements in their customers’ purchasing decisions. More effective ecologically friendly technology has been produced as a result of the strict government rules addressing carbon emissions. These initiatives—which involve component design, maintenance enhancements, or the use of data insights—are essential to boosting earnings.

Wheel loaders employ a fundamental design that hasn’t undergone significant alteration in decades. They have two hydraulically driven loader arms with a broad bucket attached at the end. In order to carry out even more tasks, buckets can be taken out and replaced by equipment or attachments.

Wheel loaders do change, though, in that their creators make progressively better design changes over time. These improvements are intended, among other things, to improve the machines’ operator comfort and safety, raise their fuel efficiency, lengthen their service intervals, and offer features that offer quicker cycle times. Engineers are continuously creating and improving new engine and gearbox technology to do that.

Wheel loaders that are small to medium in size combine strength and capability

in a more portable form. The machines are able to quickly switch attachments, accomplish load and carry tasks without sacrificing manoeuvrability, and are portable. Additionally, some producers now provide wheel loaders with hydrostatic transmissions as opposed to those with traditional torque converter transmissions, which can offer better performance at lower engine speeds.

Every improvement to a wheel loader’s technology or design also comes as a result of the manufacturers taking the time to fully understand the needs of end users and equipment dealers. Producing a technically competent wheel loader at a competitive price is frequently a tricky balancing act for equipment manufacturers as a result of customer feedback. As a general rule, we are constantly looking for ways to make machine operators and fleet managers

more efficient. That entails continuing to enhance the cooling and hydraulic systems as well as the drivetrain systems. Wheel loaders are an extremely well-established product, thus numerous recent upgrades modify how the fundamental design works. Real-time data provided by wheel loader telematics can help operators improve their day-to-day performance to shorten cycle times and raise output. And they can do it more safely and efficiently with the appropriate intelligence. Owners profit from telematics as well because it enables them to remotely monitor their equipment in action and assess the efficiency of a job site.

Wheel loader experts anticipate that the machine’s attachments (and buckets) will continue to be improved, primarily by aftermarket suppliers. Instead of needing to

er

Focus

create the full equipment, those businesses may concentrate on producing particular wheel loader components. But once an attachment has been improved, loader manufacturers attempt to develop their product so that it functions even better with that attachment. The most popular type of wheel loader bucket for optimal filling and material retention is a generalpurpose bucket. The design performs best when working with a wide range of densities, such as ordinary aggregates in construction, or when handling material on a daily basis. Traditional pin-on buckets and grapples that require additional hydraulic lines and controls are two examples of attachments that can be used on loaders.

Advantages of Mid & Small Size Loaders

Wheel loaders that are small to medium in size combine strength and capability in a more portable form. The machines are able to quickly switch attachments, accomplish

a smaller wheel loader with good lifting capacities, quick cycle times, and a compact turning radius when operating at crowded and constrained job sites. Wheel loaders in the 140 to 170 horsepower capacity range are perfect all year round for the infrastructure and construction markets. Selecting a bucket is an essential factor. To transfer material and finish more precise jobs, smaller wheel loaders should be partnered with the appropriate size bucket, especially one that is between 2.6 and 3.7 cubic yards. Since time is always valuable, operators’ productivity will increase if they can load and unload materials more quickly. Additionally, cycle times can be accelerated by increasing the machine’s travel speed. Traction aid tools like limited-slip differentials and hydraulic locking differentials, which help give improved traction whether excavating, grading, or loading trucks, are other crucial characteristics of smaller wheel loaders. With some models, traction control settings are offered to reduce tyre

WH eel loa D

on smaller wheel loaders by owners because they have stronger sidewalls that provide a more stable and comfortable ride. Bias tyres function effectively since they are easier to fix and frequently cover shorter distances. For the best traction, cleaning ability, and rock resistance in common wheel loader applications, an L2 or L3 tread pattern is advised.

More adaptability when equipped with fast couplers

The flexibility of small wheel loaders to be fitted with loader-specific attachments, such as pallet forks, buckets, and snow pushers, is the main factor in their value as fleet assets. Quick couplers, an optional feature on most manufacturers’ machines, make it simple to switch between pallet forks and buckets. Additionally, some coupler systems have been created to do away with greasing, necessitating less upkeep and replacement parts. Instead of using a normal Z-bar design, certain equipment owners may prefer a tool carrier iteration with a parallel-lift linkage. When moving between attachments, the parallel-lift form gives operators great visibility to the attachment.

Simple to keep up

For smaller-sized wheel loaders, convenient service checkpoints, high-quality parts, and long service intervals can help keep maintenance costs low and daily production schedules on track. Operators should adhere to daily, monthly, and hourly maintenance plans based on the manufacturer’s recommendations detailed in the Operation & Maintenance manual in order to increase machine uptime and decrease unforeseen machine difficulties in the future. Every day, operators should conduct a walk-around to look for any evident signs of machine wear or damage. In construction and infrastructure applications, it’s also necessary to check tyre pressure, fluid, oil, and filter levels.

Added security measures

Many manufacturers provide their machines with practical safety features like a rearview camera, backup alarms, and optimal visibility from the cab because smaller-sized wheel loaders operate on busy job sites or in tiny locations. Operators who start their shifts early and stay until late at night have a variety of options, including machine lighting. Hydraulic locking differentials, heated mirrors, and emergency steering are some more wheel loader choices.

Hydrostatic transmissions installed

For the smaller wheel loader class, several manufacturers now provide a hydrostatic transmission in place of a conventional transmission, which offers great sources of power when variable output speed is necessary. In order to run hydraulically powered attachments at their most effective efficiency, this type of gearbox enables operators to precisely control the travel speed and obtain full engine rpm.

A complete hydraulic system comprises a hydrostatic transmission: It has a gearbox, two hydraulic motors, and a pump. Through the use of a specialised system, fluid is used to both generate and transmit power. Two hydraulic motors—a low-speed motor and a high-speed motor—are coupled to a constant velocity (mechanical) gearbox that is part of this kind of wheel loader. The hydraulic flow needed to accelerate or decelerate the machine is supplied by a variable displacement pump that is directly connected to the engine.

Improved fuel efficiency due to improved performance at lower engine rpms, improved machine position control to increase productivity, particularly when climbing a pile to fill the wheel loader’s bucket, and low heat development in the digging range are just a few advantages of hydrostatic wheel loaders. Additionally, they are simpler to maintain because they have fewer moving parts than wheel loaders with torque converter transmissions.

Innovations in Wheel Loader Engine

The employment of more hybrid technologies is one area where future innovations are possible. Wheel loader hybrid component integration can enhance fuel efficiency, reduce maintenance, reduce repair/rebuild costs, and, in some cases, increase production while also having a beneficial environmental impact. End-user objectives can differ. Zero emissions are important to some people, but decreased fuel use or higher power densities may be more important to them.

Greater strength and Smarter Driving with Wheel Loaders

The all-wheel steer loader can optionally be equipped with Smart Driving PRO as well. This novel function has three working modes that support and relieve the operator in the appropriate applications while using less fuel. The entire engine output is available in the Power Mode. This offers the best foundation for quick loading cycles and operations in excavated material. The machine operates in Eco Mode with a slower engine speed than in Power Mode while maintaining the same travel speed.

Wheel loaders: Contemporary cab style

The excellent weight distribution and stability, as well as the contemporary cab design, have set new standards in the compact wheel loader segment. These, in turn, ensure the additional benefit of comfort and operator-friendliness, whereby functionality and ergonomics are at the forefront. Modern wheel loaders are coming service access with two tanks. The additional steps in the wide entrance ensure a pleasant and, most importantly, secure entry and exit. This is helped by the optionally available, tilt-adjustable steering column, which also makes it possible for the operator to modify their own steering.

Tips for operators to increase productivity

Important pointers for maximising efficiency while limiting fuel use and component wear when filling a truck with a wheel loader; 45-degree truck The truck should be positioned with a 45-degree angle to the material’s face, according to the loader operator. This is the ideal alignment of the loader, truck, and material to guarantee minimal loader movement, resulting in shorter cycle durations and less fuel use.

Straightforward Method: The loader should approach the material’s face squarely and directly. This makes sure that for a full bucket, all sides of the bucket strike the face simultaneously. Additionally, a direct method reduces side stresses on Initial Gearing: The loader moves steadily forward in first gear as it approaches the face. Low-gear, high torque offers alternative pro

Cut Down on Ground Contact: The bucket’s cutting edge shouldn’t make contact with the ground more than 15 to 40 cm before the material’s face. This lowers material contamination and bucket wear. Since there is no needless friction between the bucket and the ground, it also lowers fuel consumption.

Maintain Parallel: The operator must raise the bucket slightly just before curling it in order to achieve a full bucket while keeping the cutting edge parallel to the ground. This avoids unnecessary bucket-material contact, prolonging bucket life and saving fuel due to less friction.

Prevent Spinning: Spinning wheels causes expensive tyres to lose their tread. Furthermore, it wastefully burns fuel. When in first gear, spinning is prevented.

Prevent chasing: Try penetrating, lifting, and curling instead of chasing the load up the face. The manoeuvre that uses the least fuel is this one.

3 Ton payload wheel loaders comprised greater than 80% of the market in the early part of the last decade. Most of these were used in the mining of iron ore, coal, bauxite, stone quarries, batching plants, ports, etc. With the increased demand for production as well as time constraints of projects, the 5 Ton payload Wheel loader market has steadily increased over time & now constitutes around 26% of the market.

Reasons behind the shift include customers graduating from smaller crushers to medium or big-size crushers, mechanization of ports, and higher production demand in the mining sector. Recently, Wheel loaders that can ply on road have moved to CEV-IV emission norms, which has led to an increase in price due to the up-gradation of the

engine. To improve customer experience, manufacturers have also upgraded their machines with the latest features like telematics, air conditioner, battery cut-off switch, etc.

On the technology front, Tata Hitachi has chosen hydrostatic and hydrodynamic Wheel loaders according to application requirements and customer needs.

Tata Hitachi TL340H Prime is a 3.4 Ton payload Wheel loader with best-in-class fuel efficiency, making this machine a good choice for customers who prefer low running costs. Customers can save up to Rs. 5 to 8 lacs per annum with this machine. Recently, Tata Hitachi launched a 5 Ton payload wheel loader- ZW225 (CEV-IV). A machine specially designed for higher productivity and reliability. Tata Hitachi ZW225 is made in India with proven Japanese technology making it suitable to work globally. It is equipped with features like DSS (Down Shift Switch), Automatic bucket leveler, Auto float, and Bucket kick out. Customers are appreciating these features because it enhances their productivity and working efficiency.

For the higher class of 7 tons and above Tata Hitachi has ZW310 (7 Ton), ZW370 (9

Ton), and ZW550 (11 Ton) as offering to meet requirements of mining, port, block handling, etc.

The continued increase in investments in construction and mining sectors will drive the demand for wheel loaders shortly. The elections and transition to CEV5 norms in FY 2024-25 might act as a temporary speed breaker, but growth is expected to continue thereafter.

In line with the current trends, the market will increasingly transition to higher capacity loaders, although the 3 Ton category will still be the largest in the foreseeable future. In the immediate term, we expect the wheel loader market to grow in double digits in the next two years. CM

How do you look at the future market for telehandlers in India?

Infrastructure development and the economy are interlinked and directly impact one another. The Gati-Shakti Programme has integrated all Infrastructure activity in real-time. This will be a game changer as it will promote greater cohesion between different departments. The Government continues its focus on infrastructure development through allocations in the budget. This year has a 35.4% increase in infra-Capex outlay taking it to Rs. 7.5 lakh crores. Further Rs. 60,000 crores have been allocated for 3.8 crore houses for drinking water under the Nal se Jal programme. Rs. 48,000 crores for 80 lakh affordable housing houses will create infrastructure building opportunities. Significant allocation to States to cover PMGSY, digitisation, OFC networks and a new master plan for expressways will support our business.

Two key sectors are set to emerge in the coming years – the first being Infrastructure development in Rural India and the other will be the creation of world-class healthcare infrastructure across the country. These sectors along with Highway Development plans are bound to contribute to the Indian economy.

Products such as Telehandlers are best suited for these projects due to their versatility and Safety. They deliver a combination of value, new digital technology and world-class quality.

At a national level, an impetus for Roads & Highways, Railways, Irrigation and large projects like Sagarmala and Bharatmala would drive demand for Construction Equipment. Additionally, the focus on creating 100 new airports, Smart cities and Metro projects will certainly open newer opportunities ultimately resulting in improved demand for construction equipment. Additionally, PMGSY and rural roads will boost demand.

Backhoe loaders:

An overview of market scenario

The sales of Backhoe Loaders were very strong in the last 5 years. Growing more than 20% every year with the average sales well over 35000 units. This was because the Backhoe loaders were well accepted in the market due to cost economics, easy finance, low-interest rates, good resale value, increasing mechanization, and high mobility. Therefore, there already was a huge base of machines in the market.

Given the strong sales of Backhoes - of over 43000 units in FY 2020-21- supported by a good monsoon and government initiatives, most major OEMs hardly carried BSIII stocks at the end of Mar’21 when the new CEV4 emission norms kicked in. This meant the transition to CEV4 norms was almost immediate. At the same time, the market was hit by the COVID-19 second wave in the 1st quarter of FY2021-22.

The market adjusted almost immediately as customers faced a significant increase of more than 20% increase in the price of the machine due to changed emission norms and increases due to a rise in input costs, especially steel. Other challenges included

muted rentals and high fuel costs. All this made the hiring segment cautious about buying and led to a significant fall in Backhoe sales in FY 2021-22 which was greater than 30% on a YoY basis.

Some OEMs introduced Backhoe loaders powered by less than 49HP engine, which is outside CEV4 norms presently and hence not affected by price increase solely on account of emission norms changes and with similar digging characteristics as that of the earlier 76HP Backhoe loaders to nudge customers to opt for a more cost-effective option. This segment is increasingly becoming popular in view of cost dynamics and this is also contributing to the growth of Backhoe loader volumes in India.

In FY 2022-23 the market has stabilized at lower numbers. However, given the extremely low base of the 1st quarter of last year, the industry has shown strong growth of over 30% to date. But as most of the market is driven by hirers, we believe it will take some more time before the market recovers completely with customers accepting the increased costs and adjusting their business with new innovative methods like per-work pricing rather than per-hour rentals.

With all this in the background, we expect the market to see single-digit growth this year.

Q.We use Manufactured Sand (also known as M Sand or Crushed Sand), instead of river sand, for preparing the concrete mix. M Sand is better suited for concrete mix as it is processed in quarries and is relatively free from silt & clay and offers better compatibility with cement, helping in making a better quality concrete mix. Apart from that, we also use residual materials like Fly Ash and GGBS (Ground Granulated Blastfurnace slag) in our products. These products are waste material generated from different processes (e.g. thermal power generation and steel production) and help in improving the quality of the concrete mix. All of our other products are made under toughest quality standards & majority of them are certified under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018. Our uPVC profiles are ROHS compliant. POWE r PACKED PA r KE r ASPHALT BATCH PLANTS

More than a century old Parker Plant Limited is a UK based market leader in manufacturing and supplying reliable solutions for asphalt production, bitumen surfacing, crushing, screening, concrete production and pavement related equipment throughout the world.

Apollo Infratech – India’s fastest growing construction equipment manufacturer- has recently incorporated JV Company called Parker Plant India Pvt. Limited. Which will manufacture various Parker equipment starting with Asphalt Batch Plants of all capacities (ranging from 80 to 260 TPH) in a newly created state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Mehsana, Gujarat. Here we are going to comprehend the exhaustive list advantages of two flagship series of Parker Asphalt Batch Plants. StarMix and StarBatch.

Features & Advantages of Parker Modular Asphalt Batch Plants

Feed hopper: High hopper angle It will ensure free flow of material. Reduce wear and tear of bin plates. Required less vibration.

Belt Feeder: Side wall corrugated belt

Reduces spillage of material. Doesn’t require scrappers. So, reduces chances of material getting stuck between scrapper and belt conveyor which may cut the conveyor belt.

Collecting conveyor/Dryer feed conveyor: Wider conveyor belt with 3 ply Wider belt ensures material transfer without spillage. 3 ply construction gives more strength and provides long life.

Collecting conveyor/Dryer feed conveyor: Transom type troughing idlers

Multi angle rollers allow to set troughing angle from 20 to 40 degrees. It will reduce spare inventory. Offset center rollers ensure a smooth curve of the belt and reduce fatigue, thus increasing belt life.

Belt conveyors: Directly coupled gear motor

It reduces losses due to slippage of the belt, thus increasing efficiency. It reduces maintenance related to belt drive or chain drive.

Dryer: Negative pressure sensor

Based on the feedback of the negative pressure sensor an exhauster will control the air flow to maintain the required negative pressure in the dryer. Negative pressure is important to increase the flame length for the combustion zone. It is also required to suck the filler from the material to reduce bitumen consumption.

Dryer: Bolted discharge breaching

It allows easy access to the dryer for maintenance or part replacement.

Burner: Imported core parts

Core parts, those that are responsible for fuel efficiency, are imported to reduce manufacturing errors.

Burner: Multi wing air control

Multi wings control the air flow precisely to maintain the air fuel ratio. This will give more efficiency and reduce the unburnt fuel. Unburnt fuel can go to the dust filter and damage bags.

Burner: Rail guide system

P ro D u C

It allows easy assembly and disassembly of burner without a crane. Easy for maintenance of nozzle and other parts

Baghouse: Bigger size baghouse

Provides more filtration area. Increasing bag life by reducing the amount of air to be passed per bag. It reduces air velocity to 1.4 m/min. Less velocity means less wear and tear means more life. Reduce emission level to 20 mg/cum. Thus, benefiting the environment.

Baghouse: Negative pressure sensor

Filter cleaning mechanism will be operated based on the feedback received from the sensor. This will clean the bags as and when required. Reduces power consumption of cleaning motor. This will also reduce excess atmospheric air going to the exhauster.

Baghouse: Air velocity 1.4 m/min

Provides more filtration area. Increasing bag life by reducing the amount of air to be passed per bag. Life of bags is inversely proportional to air velocity i.e. life of bags increases with reduction in air velocity.

Pre-separator: Optimized and compact

It collects the coarse particles and transfers them to a hot elevator for further use.

Counter weight valve opening will reduce the load on the screw conveyor.

Ductwork: Minimum ductwork

Arrangement of pre-separator near dryer and baghouse reduce ductwork. Less ducting means less maintenance.

Exhauster: VFD drive

Competitors are providing damper controlled exhauster. In that system, motor keeps running at full speed and flow of air will be controlled through the damper gate. While in our system, VFD drive in exhauster, controls the flow of air very precisely and reduces power consumption by reducing motor speed when required. This will also reduce wear and tear of an impeller.

Exhauster: Ground mounted

As per our arrangement, it is mounted on ground which provides ease of maintenance

and part replacement.

Hot Elevator: Directly coupled gear motor

It reduces maintenance related to belt drive or chain drive.

Hot Elevator: Spring tensioned tension

Spring tensioned take-up will maintain the required tension on the chain continuously.

It will also be able to absorb the jerks. While in the counter weight take-up system provided by some competitors may lead to failure of links due to jerk

Hot Elevator: Sprocket in two pieces

It will provide ease of replacement in case needed.

Screen: Eccentric shaft vibration

This technology is more effective than motorized vibration. It also reduces power consumption.

Screen: 2 deck screen for 4 types

It reduces the wear and tear of the wire meshes as material need not to travel the whole length. It reduces the height of the screen.

Screen: Segmented meshes

It allows to change only the particular segment instead of the complete deck in case of any replacement needed.

Screen: Rail guide system

It allows easy movement of the end cover and provides wide access to the screen for maintenance.

Bitumen weigh hopper: Electric heater

Electric heater used to heat the hopper. Its temperature is controlled independently using a thermostat. It requires single phase supply. So, it doesn’t require to start DG.

Bitumen weigh hopper: Gravitational discharge

Gravitational discharge of bitumen from weigh hopper to the mixer removes additional pump and other parts and their maintenance. It also removes dripping of bitumen from the mixer gate.

Filler arrangement: Filler transfer

Single screw conveyor to transfer dust

from dust filter to filler weigh hopper. It removes all unnecessary parts like elevator, screw conv. etc. and related maintenance.

Paddle Mixer: Gear Motor

Directly coupled gear motors reduce losses due to slippage of belt or chain, thus increasing efficiency. It reduces maintenance related to belt drive or chain drive.

Higher factor of safety will reduce chances of damage due to jerks.

Paddle Mixer: Folding Body

Hinge type folding body give wide access for any maintenance or part replacement into the mixer

Paddle Mixer: Shaft

Shaft material is EN 24 with heat treatment, which gives longer life compared to EN 8 or EN 9 shafts

Paddle Mixer: Liners

HCHCr liner of 15mm thickness lasts longer than 12 mm Ni-hard Bitumen tank: Insulation 75mm thick rockwool insulation reduces heat losses. Thus, the energy required to heat up the bitumen and maintain its temperature is reduced. CM
