St. Simons Dining Steeped in Southern Tradition

For over eighty years, The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort has welcomed guests to St. Simons Island with a legendary blend of gracious Southern hospitality and historic charm. A central pillar of its popularity lies in the heart of the kitchens and culinary offerings of the beloved resort. In the last year, The King and Prince debuted two new eateries on the island, each aptly designed to embrace warm Southern traditions.

No dining room is more cherished by The King and Prince than signature restaurant ECHO, located in the resort’s lobby. Once a key installation during World War II, ECHO is named for the resort’s role in housing towers that were used to amplify radar signals. The resort also accommodated naval air officers’ quarters and classrooms during this time.

Today ECHO features a Coastal-inspired, Southern menu curated by way of longstanding relationships with local and regional farmers and purveyors. Resort Executive Chef Tom Cook routinely refreshes breakfast, lunch and dinner menus based on seasonality and Southern culinary trends. Guests can expect to find dishes highlighting regional offerings like Wild Georgia Shrimp and Georgia pecans. Not to be overshadowed, the ECHO bar features a robust and awardwinning craft cocktail program offering seasonal libations like The Pollinator. This cocktail made with local honey, citrus and Illegal Mezcal Tequila celebrates the coming of Spring when the Dogwoods blossom. As the only oceanfront restaurant on the island, ECHO remains a treasured favorite among residents, returning guests and new visitors.

Housed on resort grounds, The Cottage Custard + Coffee is a charming coffee shop featuring caffeinated delights from local coffeemaker Wake Up Coffee Co. alongside frozen custard treats and fresh baked goods. The Cottage hosts regular family-friendly events at no cost to the community on its lawn, an area outfitted with fire pits, corn hole and a castle playground for children. Since opening in early 2021, The Cottage remains the only shop on St. Simons Island offering frozen custard.

In January of 2022, 100 Tabbystone was unveiled at The King and Prince Golf Course, Home of the Hampton Club, a course renowned for its dramatic landscape of live oak trees, salt marshes, and breathtaking lagoons. 100 Tabbystone is the newest restaurant to open on the north end of St. Simons Island and serves American fare. The charming restaurant, located within the relaxed warmth of the low country Clubhouse, offers indoor and outdoor seating, and features an impressive variety of Bourbon labels and Bourbon-based craft cocktails.

The King and Prince continues to enhance our cherished island through their commitment to gracious Southern hospitality and the tradition of entertaining in the South. To learn more, call 800.342.0212 or visit kingandprince.com.
