COMMUNITY JUBILEE SCHEDULED FOR JULY

Keep Golden Isles Beautiful’s annual Community Jubilee at The TreeBar at Bennie’s Red Barn on St. Simons Island is a toe tapping, fun fundraising event with live music by Backbeat Boulevard, upcycled art silent auction items, big ticket live auction items and a super Southern BBQ buffet. This year’s fundraiser has been rescheduled to Sunday, July 18th, from 5-8:00 p.m., so mark your calendar for an evening of fun! Tickets go on sale in early June at Pane in the Glass on SSI, from KGIB’s downtown Brunswick offices and from KGIB board members. Tickets are $25 each before July 1st. BRUNSWICK TO HOST INAUGURAL ART WALK

On Saturday, June 5, head to Historic Downtown Brunswick for the inaugural Brunswick Art Walk. This event sponsored by local businesses offers talented regional artists and artisan makers with interesting displays a chance to show and sell their creative work. All artwork is original in design and for sale. Artist’s booths will be set up along Newcastle Street from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a wide variety of art in including painting, photography, pottery, jewelry, and much more, ranging in price from $3 to $1,000 and trinkets for kids for only 25 cents. Come out and see what fabulous treasures you find.

PENGUIN PROJECT RETURNS WITH BYE, BYE BIRDIE

On June 17-20, the Golden Isles Penguin Project presents Bye, Bye Birdie – Young Performers Edition. The Penguin Project® was conceived to give children with special needs an opportunity to participate in the performing arts and our Golden Isles performers and their mentors have wowed us with their shows every year! This summer they bring us a loving musical send-up of the late 1950s, small-town America, teenagers, and rock n’ roll, Bye Bye Birdie tells the story of teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie who has been drafted into the Army and it’s arranged for him to give “One Last Kiss” to all-American girl Kim McAfee. Shows take place at The Ritz Theatre at 7:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
