ANNUAL RECYCLING EVENT TO BE HELD IN MAY
Old electronics, clothes, batteries, prescription drugs, light bulbs, sensitive documents and scrap metal can be difficult to dispose of properly. The annual Keep Golden Isles Beautiful Electronics & More Recycling Event held at Glynn Place Mall’s JCPenney end parking lot provides the community with the opportunity to rid their homes and businesses of these items safely and conveniently. TAPS AT TWILIGHT
The St. Simons Rotary Club invites the community to come out to Neptune Park for the annual Taps at Twilight program on a Memorial Day, May 27, at 6:45 p.m. This tribute and traditional observance of the holiday began in 1991 to honor the men and women who have fallen in the service of our country, those who have valiantly served and returned, and those who are serving today. There will be patriotic music performed, including anthems for each branch of service, and remarks by a guest speaker to be announced. The event is free and open to the public, attendees should bring chairs or blankets as provided seating is limited. Memorial bricks for Veterans Walk and American flags will be available for purchase.
ISLAND PLAYERS WRAP SEASON WITH A HITCH
The Island Players close out the 2018-19 season with One Slight Hitch, a comedy by Lewis Black. It’s Courtney’s wedding day, and her mom, Delia, is making sure that everything is perfect. The groom, although somewhat stuffy, is perfect; the dress is perfect; and the decorations (assuming they arrive) will be perfect. Then, as in any good comedy, the doorbell rings and everything changes. Enter a former, free-wheeling boyfriend and hysterical chaos reigns. But … all’s well that ends well, and a sweet, unexpected solution to wedding wildness closes the show. Performances May 3-5, 10-12, 17-19 at the St. Simons Casino Theatre with shows at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00 p.m. matinees on Sundays. Advance tickets available at theislandplayers.com.
