THROUGH JANUARY 2, 2022 Jekyll Island’s magical holiday transformation into Holly Jolly Jekyll runs through Sunday, January 2, 2022. Take a self-guided holiday light tour or enjoy festive holiday beverages, music and receive a one-of-a-kind tour souvenir with a Holly Jolly Light Tour on Jekyll’s jolliest trolley. Play mini golf under the festive lights at “Peppermint Land,” where giant gum drops, peppermint sticks, gingerbread men and more liven up the 18-hole courses. And don’t forget to drop by Goodyear Cottage to do some shopping at the Merry Artists Market, open daily. DECEMBER 2 Come see and bid on the fun and beautifully decorated trees and wreaths created by local businesses, schools, organizations, and individuals at the Festival of Trees benefiting Hope 1312 Collective. The event takes place at the new Murray Center for Hope in Brunswick from 7:00-10:00 p.m., and will include the auction, musical entertainment by students from the Golden Isles Youth Orchestra, a custom holiday menu with heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and a festive signature cocktail. Tickets at hope1312co.org. DECEMBER 3 Come out to Halyards and Tramici restaurants on St. Simons Island from 6:00-10:00 p.m. for A Merry Mixer. They’ll be shaking it up to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Georgia and the Elizabeth F. Correll Teen Center. Dance to live music by Mason Waters & the Groove Allstars and bid on fantastic items in the silent auction while enjoying a wide assortment of food and drinks during this delightful and delicious evening of fun and fellowship. DECEMBER 3-4 The 40th Annual Plantation Christmas is scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation in Brunswick. Experience how Christmas was celebrated on a Southern rice plantation during the 1850s. Walk down the old carriage road and enjoy a candlelit tour of the antebellum house. There will be hot wassail, cookies, Civil War reenactors, Christmas carols and a special visit from Santa. Admission $5 for children, $10 for adults. For further details, call 912.264.7333. DECEMBER 4 The CASA Scrooge You 2021 5K race will take place at 8:00 a.m. and will start and finish at Port City Park in Brunswick. Runners will follow a route through the historic sections of downtown and run past the CASA offices. Registration for the race is open on active.com.

Cassina Garden Club hosts “The Best Bake Sale in the South” from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Historic Tabby Cabins at Gascoigne Bluff on St. Simons Island. Come out to purchase tasty and festive homemade cakes, pies, cookies, and other holiday treats and gifts such as toasted pecans, jellies, and jams. The Interpretive Cabin will also be open for tours.

St Mark’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick holds its annual Christmas Bazaar: craft, bake and flea sale from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lots of original crafts for the holidays, proceeds to help our brothers and sisters in need.

Breakfast with the Grinch, Santa, and friends at Golden Isles Olive Oil in Redfern Village on St. Simons Island from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Breakfast buffet is held in conjunction with the 5th Annual #EndTheStigma Toy Drive benefitting children who are spending their holiday in the Southeast Georgia Health System hospital instead of at home. Restoration Imports’ Annual Carte Blanche Christmas Party will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m with door prizes, giveaways, and special deals. Christmas music will fill the air, and Little Santa will be there handing out gifts while you enjoy light bites and refreshments. They’ll be warming up for the event with their annual Warehouse Sale Thursday and Friday (December 2-3), and on Saturday, they’ll be offering an unheard-of 20% off entire store!

Kids can sit in the driver’s seat and explore several emergency vehicles (sirens will be silenced) and chat with emergency personnel from Jekyll Island Fire/EMS and Georgia State Patrol at the Holiday Big Truck Roundup at Great Dunes Beach Park from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Santa will make an appearance too!

The Golden Isles Community Messiah Chorus will be presenting their annual performance of Handel’s Messiah at 3:00 p.m. They will be in a new venue this year: St. Simons Presbyterian Church. One performance only, so please arrive early to ensure a seat.

The annual community Brunswick Christmas Parade will start at 5:30 p.m. at Howard Coffin Park, with floats, vehicles, walking groups and marching band units making their way down Gloucester Street to Mary Ross Waterfront Park with Santa’s arrival as the grand finale.

Watch as Santa and friends make their way around Jekyll Island in a variety of vehicles dressed in their holiday-best and lit up for the holidays during the Holly Jolly Light Parade from 7:00-8:00 p.m. For more details and route, see jekyllisland.com.

DECEMBER 4-5 Glynn Visual Arts will host its 11th annual Mistletoe Market at Postell Park in the Village on St. Simons Island from 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. This show combines fine art, fabulous gifts, great food, entertainment, and family fun in a festive outdoor island holiday atmosphere.

DECEMBER 5 The Coastal Symphony of Georgia presents the Musical Magic of talented pianist Terry Readdick in a Family Christmas Concert at Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica on St. Simons Island at 4:00 p.m. Tickets at coastalsymphonyofgeorgia.org.

DECEMBER 10-12 Golden Isles Arts & Humanities presents

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Adapted by Christopher

Schario at the Historic Ritz Theatre. Eight actors, including Bryan Thompson as Scrooge, take on all the roles sharing Dickens words in a simple setting, yet with all the magic that makes this a timeless story. 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3:00 p.m. matinee on Sundays. Welcome Santa when he arrives by harbor pilot boat at the St. Simons Pier around 2:30 p.m. He’ll pose for pictures and take last minute requests. Exact time of arrival will depend on tides and weather. The Village Golf Cart Parade will also take place Saturday.

At dusk, the night sky will light up over Jekyll Island with a free fireworks show in celebration of the season.

DECEMBER 11-12 At Crafts in the Village, you can shop more than 40 artists and handmade craft vendors in Postell Park on St. Simons Island from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Everyone’s favorite dance production of The Grinch by Jill Stanford Dance Center is back in the Brunswick High School Auditorium with performances Saturday at 2:00 and 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. General admission $15, children under 3 are free. Tickets on sale now. Academy Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults at the door, free for students under 12.

Historic Downtown Brunswick’s St. Athanasius Episcopal Church presents its annual Jazz Sounds of Christmas Concert at 5:00 pm. The live band performs traditional and contemporary Christmas songs set to jazz along with hearing the story of the birth of Jesus. Reception following the concert. General admission is $25, free for children 15 and under. Tickets at saintachurch.org.

Free Drive-In Movie screening of Frosty the Snowman in Jekyll Island convention center parking lot from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Eat at one of the Beach Village restaurants, do a little shopping, to receive a free light-up holiday souvenir with purchase. Then choose your parking spot and tune in to Jekyll’s private radio channel to watch this holiday classic on the big screen.

The Island Players’ Christmas show, Holiday Lights! features musical favorites, a few new songs, and a warm-hearted storyline that will tie up your holiday in a big bow, so come out to the St. Simons Casino Theatre for the show at 5:00 p.m. Free and open to the public with donations accepted to benefit MAP International.

DECEMBER 24 Santa and his island elves, members of the St. Simons Civinettes and the Glynn County Volunteer Fire Department, will make the annual Christmas Eve journey around St. Simons Island on antique red fire truck Engine 32. This beloved island tradition has continued for more than 70 years, with adults and children alike flocking to catch a glimpse of Santa on the lighted truck.
