Foundation Club Instrumental in Success of the RSM Classic
e Davis Love Foundation often shares stories about the 1,200+ volunteers that it takes to make e RSM Classic possible. Spectators and players see these individuals performing the duties of ambassadors, marshals, laser operators, walking scorers and many other roles. However, there’s also another special group of leaders who assist the tournament team throughout the year. Known as the Foundation Club, these volunteers help raise additional funds for the tournament through recruiting and educating new potential corporate partners. ey also tour tournament charities, visit hospitality venues during tournament week to thank supporters, participate in tournament charity events, and serve as starters on the rst and tenth tees during the Wednesday Pro-Am event and for all 4 tournament rounds of e RSM Classic.
Rick Ackerman, a resident of the Golden Isles, has led the Foundation Club since the tournament’s inception in 2010. His dedication to the group is multi-fold. As an avid golf enthusiast, he loves the game and the incredible economic and charitable impact e RSM Classic has on the community. He also admires the Love family and nds the event an extraordinary way to give back. “ rough the Foundation Club, we are able to witness and experience the true purpose of the tournament – to give to charity and understand the Christian impact of what we do,” said Ackerman.
Each month, the Foundation Focus brings readers a glimpse of the operations, charities, companies and the team behind e RSM Classic. is April, in conjunction with National Volunteer Month, we are introducing you to the work of the Foundation Club, a special year-long committee which helps make e RSM Classic a successful Seaside Tradition.
“As a group, we have visited the Boys and Girls Club, Communities in Schools, and other charities. We have seen rst-hand the incredible work these organizations do and how important it is to support their ongoing missions. I don’t know of another event that has been this impactful on the Golden Isles. It is a genuine privilege to give back in this way,” shares Ackerman.
A big thank you to Rick Ackerman and these unsung heroes of the Foundation Club for all they do behind the scenes to support e RSM Classic and our community.
