Brunswick Rocks is a 501c3 nonprofit bouldering gym within the historic Kress building at 1509 Newcastle Street in downtown Brunswick. Their mission is to provide a fun learning environment for selfimprovement and self-confidence, promoting health, fitness, and personal growth for people of all abilities. They will be working with other community partners and nonprofits to provide a place where kids can be kids, progress at their own pace, learn that effort equals improvement, and ultimately provide opportunities beyond the gym. Even community members who don’t have means to pay for a membership will have the chance to volunteer 5 hours/month at Brunswick Rocks or a partner non-profit in exchange for a membership. Memory Matters Receives Grant

The Georgia Alzheimer’s Foundation recently presented a $60,000 grant to Memory Matters Glynn to support its mission of supporting, educating, and enriching the lives of individuals dealing with memory issues and the people who care for them. The grant funds included proceeds from the October 2022 Golden Isles Alzheimer’s Walk. Located in Brunswick, Memory Matters provides free resources, social activities for persons with memory impairment, and support groups in Glynn County. “We are so proud to support an organization like Memory Matters,” said Andrea Mickelson, Executive Director of the Georgia Alzheimer’s Foundation. “In addition to supporting research, the Foundation is passionate about supporting those living with cognitive issues and their caregivers. Steam Powered

Get the kids excited about science and learning by bringing them out to the STEAM Festival & Literacy Fair presented by Glynn County Schools on Saturday, March 4. STEAM promotes Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. This free and family-friendly event will feature hands-on exhibits for grades Pre-K through 12, so bring your kids of all ages and let them explore and you might just find some great reading material at the Literacy Fair too. STEAM Fest takes place f rom 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Brunswick High School. Booth and sponsorship opportunities are available. Survivors To Walk Runway At Sea Palms

Sea Palms Resort on St. Simons Island will host the 23rd Annual American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Fashion Show and Luncheon on Saturday, February 11. Presented by Vincent Arlauskas,M.D., Steven Barrett, M.D., and Bradley Easterlin, M.D., this annual event in association with Relay for Life Glynn County includes a delicious luncheon and a fabulous fashion show of the seasonal looks from several of our local boutiques modeled by breast cancer survivors. In addition, there will be silent auction bidding and the popular pink boxes that every lady wants to take home will be available for purchase. Doors open at 11:15 a.m. Luncheon begins at noon. Shine those dancing shoes up once again, dads! The annual Father-Daughter Dance presented by the American Cancer Society Victory Board will take place at Ziggy’s on St. Simons Island, Sunday, February 5 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. This special afternoon to pamper your precious princesses includes refreshments, music for dancing, and ample opportunity for photos. Time To Fly

On Saturday, March 4, Aviation Career Day will be held at the BrunswickGolden Isles Airport from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This free event will offer an opportunity for students in middle and high school and their parents to explore careers in aviation, and to speak with industry and education professionals. Students will have a chance to try out actual flight simulators used to train today’s pilots. A display of aircraft will also be available for guests to visit, and speak with the owners, builders and pilots. There will be Gulfstream tours and EAA Young Eagles flights available (registration required). Everyone participating will be treated to free hotdogs as well. LOVELY BUTTERFLY ISABELLA HAYNES WON THE AWARD FOR BEST COSTUME. THE DAY’S OLDEST JUMPER WAS A YOUTHFUL 72 YEARS-OLD AND THE YOUNGEST WAS AN ADORABLE TODDLER AT AGE TWO.
