My interest for the architecture began when i studied in Rome, and it grew up when i moved to Venice: very different cities, but fundamentals for my development. Traveling and theoretical studying are equally important:the discovery of places, their history, culture, and their representation. My goals are to continue my professional training and to work in a place where I can express myself and give space to my ideas, be part of creative team, interested like me to architecture and the city, not only from constructive point of view, but also theoretic, graphics and artistic.

POLIORCETICON Venezia Pavillion_UP! Marghera on Stage “The ideal city must be imagined, the real city must be re-conquered.The reconquest must be understood as a permanent process implying heterogeneous and punctual transformational actions able to independently generate systematic reactions and relations amongst the elements of the contemporary city.” BIENNALE OF ARCHITECTURE 2016 in collaboration with

BABAU BUREAU CARDOETDECUMANUS

GRAPHICS 3D MODELING

“Poliorcetics is the branch of military art that studies methods, technics and means for besieging cities and fortresses. It is an art that, like Architecture, transforms places into tools, actions, strategies, and implies a strong knowledge of subjects that go beyond the Art of War and include engineering, geology, anthropology and politics. The idea of conquest, is not just linked to control, supremacy, and suppression, but also to fusion among cultures, like in the case of Alessandro Magno and the fusion of his Hellenic Reign with Indian peoples. With this theoretic background, the contemporary territory can be read as a juxtaposition of antithetical city models, and its form as the synthesis of different interpretive and modelling capacities typical of men and of their being-in-the-world (Heidegger). The Veneto territory is characterized by the co-existence of profoundly different types of city models, and the areas that overlook the lagoon highlight this condition in an extreme way. Imagining future scenes in order to reconvert such a complex territory as Porto Marghera, means starting from a transformative process project, thought up not necessarily to be connected one with the other. On such theoretical bases, the project proposal interprets the theme of physical re-conquest of places and the possibility for the community to regain collective knowledge of the territory where it lives through the modification tools used in architecture. The imaginary scene regards the near future and considers the present city the reality from where to start. Through different punctual interventions,

012

the first step for the re-conquest of Porto Marghera will take place through new connections among existing elements, able to build a renewed accessibility, with the scope of creating porosity and functional connections. Some of these areas, once back in use, will be available for the spontaneous and temporary utilization of their inhabitants. The “conquest” process will be considered finished only when a series of new interventions will form with the existing a total functional urban mix, configuring itself as a “city without plan”, this is a city model built on fragments that derive from pieces put side by side for addition, from the repetition of independent elements, from “out-of-sync” buildings, combined with no logic, but that will be a fusion between productive and living culture.”

biennale 2016

A NEW SYMBOL Thinking of cities, it is easy to associate to many of these symbolic images, often linked to monuments and objects, monuments-object, object-monument: elements of the city that have become real “brands”, able to bring everyone to the idea of the city where they come from. The Marghera of the future, its image, will not be linked to the idea of an unhealthy, run-down, and alien place anymore. This “image”, today fixed in the collective memory and associated to porto Marghera, shall be, with its reconfiguration, gradually replaced by new symbols, containers of multiple meanings, among which the ideas of “seeing”, “showing” and “fore seeing”, become a personal tool for the observation of reality.

SEWOON DISTRICT the new layer of public space in Seoul

MASTER GRADUATION PROJECT realized with MARIANGELA IODICE professor ALDO AYMONINO university IUAV of Venice 2013/2014 PUBLIC SPACE MOBILITY HOUSING Seoul_South Korea The city of Seoul is one of the Asian cities with highest percentage of inhabitants per kilometer-sqaure, the density and the speed of growth make it unique, a place of urban contrasts, overbuilding vs preservation of nature, but also a symbol of economic progress that supported the expansion of metropolitan area as far as 605 kilometer-square for 13 millions of inhabitants around. Our project area, in the Jongro district, is the most important example of activity and industry of this great metropolis; seat of manufacturing sector, the Sewoon market is presented, in the first time, as a degraded area, congested, marked by the presence of Sewoon Sangga. The project, after the international workshop in South Korea in September 2013, describes what are the current conditions of the place and the impossibility to change the shape and the fabric of the quarter under review, it was decided then to move to another level: a new system of path raised 10 meters above the ground, as an independent organism it then expands to the entire city, not just a pedestrian path but a flexible public space.

Most important is the presence of main building Sewoon Sangga, the megastructure made in 60s by Kim Geun Swoon, symbol of modernism, today an indelible mark of 1,2 km which divides the hearth of Seoul. This building was presented in the exhibition of Korean Pavilion during the last Biennale “the Fundamentals”, and was born from the idea of visually connecting sacred mountains that are located on the north-south axis, and being able to move in this direction to a level elevated above the road, this paths are called the “wings”. This was an opportunity to develop the project to its original pedestrian path level:reconnectng the “wings”outside the building and, at the same level by inserting new public functions:museum, retail, offices, services for residence, co-working.

“Looking the disposal of the military areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia we attend at the collapse of an entire system that affected for decades, positively and negatively, the entire region.A points system linked together, that worked together or in a complementary manner, and belonged to a strategic garrison and borders defense.[…] The conversion should start from the recognition of the characteristics and qualities of defensive system disused. But what are these qualities? Architecture, landscape, position, environment, infrastructure.[…] We believe that, thanks to its uniqueness, the divestment in Friuli may be an opportunity to re-read the whole region. “A COUNTRY OF PRIMEROSES AND BARRACKS” is a research project aimed to draw credible scenarios for the conversion of disused military heritage, the goal it’s transforming it into a resource for economic, cultural and social.”

RETHINKING THE COTTON FACTORY realized with Davide Perosa Integrated Design Lab_a.a. 2012-2013 Professors: A. Lionello, M. Carmassi

historical images from: “Università per l’ex-cotonifcio di Venezia” 1988_Bolzani, Paolini

EDUCATION The Venetian cotton factory was built in the end of 1800, is located in the old industrial area of Venice, that is characterizing for the form and urban structure. In our project we had a confrontation with preexisting building: we respected the internal division and used the old walls as a “enclosure” where we moved the volumes of the project. The portion of the building in the north side is dedicated to learning, there is a system of classrooms, workshops and courts, an alternation of empty spaces and volumes, connected by paths and common places. In the middle, where once there was the

electric control unit, we preferred to maintain the function of the university lobby, maintaining the original empty, where we connected the different levels and functions whit hanging paths. In the last part of the cotton factory, are located the library, exhibition and conference room, given the spatial environments, which is not altered. This project has given us a way to deal with an existing building and reflect on the relationship that is created between old and new architecture.
