La tesi di Laurea propone un progetto di rigenerazione territoriale per il Borgo di Zonca, una piccola frazione del Comune di Montescheno in Valle Antrona (Provincia del Verbano - Cusio - Ossola). Dopo aver analizzato il borgo e il suo territorio da diversi punti di vista, si è intrapreso il percorso progettuale che vede la trasformazione del luogo, mantenendo da un lato i caratteri che lo identificano ma allo stesso tempo tentando di introdurre elementi nuovi legati alla contemporaneità. Il connubio ricercato tra antico e nuovo all’interno della proposta progettuale mette in evidenza come territori abbandonati possano ancora rappresentare delle opportunità di vita e lavoro in un contesto contemporaneo di generale difficoltà. L’idea progettuale quindi ha come fine non solo il recupero di un territorio abbandonato con l’inserimento di sole attività turistiche, ma la ri-creazione di un vero e proprio sistema agro - silvo - pastorale che incontra le attività di accoglienza, forme di turismo sostenibile, e allo stesso tempo restituisca al territorio la sua vera vocazione, nel tempo perduta. La tesi, dal titolo “IL BORGO DI ZONCA: un progetto integrato di rigenerazione”, si pone quindi gli obiettivi di progettare, in maniera integrata, rigenerando il territorio. Progettare è qui inteso sia come inserimento di nuove strutture necessarie alle attività di produzione di beni locali sia come recupero del patrimonio storico, architettonico e culturale, con progetti di restauro e ri-funzionalizzazione. Progettare in maniera integrata inoltre, significa considerare un’insieme di fattori, che variano dal luogo, alle attività che un tempo vi si svolgevano, alla progettazione dettagliata di organismi sempre più moderni che guardano con attenzione ai temi della sostenibilità ambientale, alla valorizzazione delle produzioni locali (agricole, alimentari, artigianali...) secondo le possibilità che queste terre ancora offrono per una ripresa economica e produttiva, garantendo quindi un recupero sostenibile non legato alle attività turistiche di sfruttamento del territorio, ma alla riproposizione equilibrata tra attività agro - silvo - pastorali e attività turistiche, in relazione tra loro.
The Degree graduation thesis proposes a project of territorial regeneration for the “Borgo di Zonca”, a small hamlet in the Municipality of Montescheno, in Valle Antrona (the province of Verbano - Cusio - Ossola). After having analysed the hamlet and its surroundings from various points of view, the project would be as a transformation of the place, on the one hand keeping the characteristics that identify it and on the other hand trying to introduce new elements linked to contemporaneousness. The union sought between old and new in the proposed project highlights how abandoned territory can still represent an opportunity of life and work in a modern context of general difficulty. Thus the idea of the project has its aim not only in the gaining of abandoned land and starting only tourist activities but the re-creation of a real agro - forestry - pastoral system that meets the reception and maintainable tourism activities and at the same time it gives back the territory its real vocation lost in time. The thesis entitled “The Village of Zonca. An integrated project of regeneration” faces attempts to re-generate the territory in a complete way. Projecting, here, means both inserting new necessary structures for the production of local goods and regaining historical, architectonical and cultural heritage by resorting and making it function one more. Planning in an integral way also means considering a number of factors at the same time which can change according to the location, the activity that took place once, the detailed designing of increasingly modern organisms which must respect the environment, the upgrading of local products (agriculture, food, crafts) according to the possibilities that these lands still offer, for a revival of economic and productive recovery. Thus the project carried out to guaranteeing the maintainable new life which is not linked to touristic activity which exploits the territory but to a balanced re-proposal between agro forestry pastoral activity and tourist activity, both relating to each other.
