The Sugar Glider

Group 1_What’s the relationship between Don and Sylvia like? How does it change from the beginning to the end of this story? What do you think it will be like in the future? Don and Silvia are Judy’s parents. They had divorced one year ago. During this year all the family had been separated. Silvia took Judy and both went to live in the countryside. They started a new live living and working in a farm. On the other hand, Don went to the Pacific Islands and bought his own plane that would become his working tool. Flying was his favourite job but it was the most important reason for his divorce, he was always working and Silvia couldn’t stand it. This is the situation in the first chapters, but when they met again in the airfield both became nervous, as if they were teenagers. Maybe they hadn’t lost their love. Along the story Silvia was so worried about Don, which could mean that in the future they could be together again.

Group 2_Which character have you liked the least? Give reason for your answer including a description of the character. For me the worst character was Patrick Forsha. Who was him? He was Silvia’s boyfriend, but that isn’t the reason I didn’t like him. In Sylvia’s eyes he seemed a gentleman, and he always bought expensive gifts for Judy, including a horse. Patrick also wanted to marry Silvia and he tried it in many ways. But really he looked like a rich businessman, who wore expensive suits and liked to show he had money. This wasn’t all, Patrick had an important company but not all his money came from good activities; he had a dark face. Throughout the story we discovered it; his money came from his illegal dealings with uranium.

Group 3_Judy proves to be a very brave girl during the story. Why? She had lived in the city all her life, but one year ago, since her parents got divorced, she went to live in the countryside with her mother. This year living there, she has lived different experiences that have changed her. She has learned how to live in a farm, the customs, and the habits, and has helped her mother with farm work. Now she is a young woman and her father has noticed it. Throughout the story she endures very difficult situations and she proves to be a strong and brave girl. When the plane crashed Judy was able to tame wild horses that helped them go along the road quickly. Then her father had a new accident and again she continued her journey alone to look for help. She found a farm but it wasn’t the end; Judy was kidnapped along with the farmer by the man who had made the plane crash, to get the uranium. Judy was concerned they wanted to kill them if they didn’t find the uranium. She tried to relax and everything had a good ending.
