Rules & Information The ELEPHANT CHARGE will take place this year on 25 SEPTEMBER 2021, with some modifications, to ensure social distancing and maximum protection for all involved. All COVID 19 protocols will be strictly adhered to. However, we are committed to continue to support our conservation projects who have lost a significant chunk of funding from the tourism industry. Now, more than ever, our wildlife and the people living and working within national parks need support and protection.
Mask up
This year there will be no catering. We ask that teams be self-sufficient in their own campsite (which should adhere to all social distancing guidelines and be limited to 30 people max.) This year we will have a bar and burgers for sale on the Saturday evening after the CHARGE. We do ask that you maintain social distancing and mask up to order drinks. Temperatures will be taken at the entrance gate. Please do NOT come along if you are displaying any symptoms related to COVID-19. Gatherings such as drivers’ briefings will be limited to one member per team and will be conducted in a socially distanced manner, keeping 2m distances, wearing face masks and using hand sanitizer. We shall have hand washing stations and hand sanitizer available for use.

The Fuchs Elephant Charge 2021 results will be announced online as soon as possible after the event. There will be no prize giving ceremony at the event but we plan to conduct this in conjunction with a results night in a socially distanced manner on the 9th October at 18:00 at the Tap House. A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION…. We are in the wilderness and the mission of Elephant Charge is to protect the extraordinary beauty of this country. Any personal ideas of fun cannot interfere with the environment, which is home to many local communities. If you are in doubt about the guidelines, be sure to ask any Charge Official. CAMPING Be sure to check in at HQ before setting up your campsite! We do have allocated camping areas, this is to allow space for everyone, so that we are not all camping on top of each other. There is also an entry fee of K100 per vehicle, which is donated to the local community that is hosting us at the site. Please camp in the designated areas only. All campers are expected to be 10 |
self-sufficient in terms of camping equipment. Basic ablution facilities are provided. Please do use them and keep them clean and tidy throughout the weekend. LITTER The Bright Future Project will be providing recycling services at the Elephant Charge. They will be providing recycling bags for each campsite. Please make sure that you put all of your waste in these bags, they will be collected at the end of the event which shall then be recycled in Lusaka. FIRE It is dry season. The bush is like a tinder box. Light a fire ONLY in your designated camping area, if possible, please use mbaulas or gas stoves. Make sure there is a clear space (foliage free) around your campfire. Do not leave the fire unattended. Put water on the fire if you have to leave it. Cigarettes are a fire hazard. Please do not throw cigarettes out of the car windows or leave them on the ground they are not biodegradable.
Rules & Information cont.

If possible, leave the generator at home, however, if you must have one, please place it well away from the other camps and in a pit to minimize the noise. Generators must be switched off by 10pm.

The Fuchs Elephant Charge is one of the first motorsport events to go Climate Positive in 2021! This year we have teamed up with BioCarbon Partners - BCP, who helped us calculate just how much we need to offset against in order to achieve 10% climate positivity for this year’s Charge. Simply put, across the entire event, we are offsetting more emissions than we are emitting by 10%, from our use of fuel to, from, and during the Charge, to the cooking the teams will be doing on site. There has never been more of a need to go climate positive as there is now. We charge for conservation, to protect the environment we all love so dearly, and conserve so passionately, and we are happy to do it as Climate Positive event. | 11

In Loving Memory of Brynn Morgan The Elephant Charge community (and the world at large) lost one of our treasured friends and members on 17 August 2021 when Brynn Morgan sadly passed away. Brynn was an enthusiastic charger, always keen to bring his Swamp Donkey over the border from Botswana and even putting together a separate team for his wife, Danielle in 2019. He was always keen to help others at the Charge and contribute to the cause. He was genuinely friendly and inclusive of all friends, old and new. He will be sorely missed by us all. The Elephant Charge committee, and we are sure all chargers, send our heartfelt condolences to his wife and two daughters. We are sure he is off enjoying a 4x4 adventure somewhere out there. 16 |

Beneficiaries The teams that enter the Elephant Charge make a pledge to the conservation charities and every single dollar that the teams raise is passed to the Zambian beneficiary charities as grants. Every year the beneficiaries make grant applications and are selected based on the programs and projects that they propose are best placed to deliver the Elephant Charge mission of ‘Conservation through Education’ in Zambia. The beneficiaries prepare reports on how the funds have been spent through the year so that the Elephant Charge Commitee and teams can be sure the money is well spent. Funds raised by the Elephant Charge have been granted to:
