Q&A
THE FIRST ANTI GETS PERSONAL Soror Tamara Manning Gordon prides herself on being transparent - an "open book", as she calls it. But, here are a few facts you may not know about the International First Anti-Basileus.
Elevate | 9
Q&A WITH THE FIRST Q: What is it about Zeta that made you decide to become a member? A: On my campus the Zetas were the standout sorority. I was impressed with their leadership in the classroom and service and social scene. Everywhere you looked Zetas were the leaders. I identified with that. Q: What is the most challenging part about being First AntiBasileus? A: The most challenging part is learning to balance the role and the needs of members. I think it's important to provide sorors with education, but you also have to be a resource and be available. Q: What is the most rewarding part about being First Anti-Basileus? A: The sense of accomplishment when you are able to help a soror or chapter navigate through a membership issue. Elevate | 10
BEING ABLE TO HELP A SOROR OR A CHAPTER NAVIGATE AN ISSUE IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING FIRST ANTI.
Q: Did you always want to be First Anti-Basileus? A: No. I didn't think about any office of this magnitude until four or five years ago. I discovered that all the things I was passionate about in Zeta and wanted to find a way to use my own creativity to enhance the sorority. This is where that led me. Q: We all know you were a stellar student athlete while at Cheyney. Do you still play basketball? No, I don't. I had to have back surgery and can no longer play as a result. I wish I could. Now my exercise is limited to the gym or walking. Q: What do you most enjoy? A: I love down time. I love to travel, shopping, wine tastings and church. If I am away from home, I am doing one of those things. Q: What is on your playlist right now? A: I love Jekalyn Carr's song You Will Win, God's Plan by Drake and Level Up by Ciara.
