For a striking focal point, pick a faceted gemstone in a seaworthy shade and add a starďŹ sh charm. Then, simply oat the pendant among sandcolored petal pearls for a gorgeous necklace. Details like a textured bail and a decorative hook clasp elevate the piece above basic strung jewelry.

Cut a 4-in. (10 cm) piece of 22-gauge wire. Make the first half of a wrapped loop (Basics). Attach a starfish charm and complete the wraps.

String a faceted gemstone and make the first half of a wrapped loop perpendicular to the first loop.
Open the loop of a bail (Basics) and attach the dangle. Close the bail’s loop.

Cut a piece of beading wire (Basics). Center the bail on the wire.
On each end, string five to seven pearls and a 6 mm spacer. Repeat until the necklace is within 1 in. (2.5 cm) of the finished length.

On one end, string a 4 mm spacer, a crimp bead, a 4 mm spacer, and a hook clasp. Repeat on the other end, substituting a 2-in. (5 cm) piece of chain for the clasp. Check the fit, and add or remove beads from each end if necessary. Go back through the beads just strung and tighten the wires. Crimp the crimp beads (Basics) and trim the excess wire.
