Villa Fagerheim was built and designed in 19691970. It is located in Dale, Sogn go Fjordane, Norway. The architect, Peder Ristesund, built it to function as a Nordic Folkschool. The school was designed as two independent parts. An office on the Eastside and the school on the Westside. The office kept its function while the school transformed into a villa. Now the villa is property of NKD, Nordisk Kunstnarsenter. Villa Fagerheim is built on a hill, overlooking the fjord and the mountains. It is hidden behind vegetation. Before NKD was built, the villa used to be the highest point of Dale. The villa can be reached by a small winding road from the village.

Nowadays the villa is uninhabited because of humidity, with mould as result. The toxic air caused by it obligated the inhabitants to move. Some rooms are now used as storage for NKD.

The villa was designed with straight lines and right angles. The horizontality gets strengthened by the choice of materials. Dark brown horizontal wooden slats, irregularly shaped stones, rough white walls and glass with red window frames. The stone walls are panels which are connected to the primary concrete structures. The villa has flour flat roofs, which is an atypical Norwegian architectural characteristic.

Occupied property area: 1270m². The outdoor area is split into tree levels with a different height. The highest level, situated on the east side, is connected to the road and the backdoor of the external office. The second level, the courtyard, is connected to the main entrance of both the villa and the external office. The lowest level, situated on the west side, is connected to five secondary entrances of the villa. All levels are connected to each other by stairs. The outdoor area is occupied by square tiles and grass. The view from the garden to the north-west corner is blocked by a hedge.
