Active Heating and Cooling: The building is equipped with a Variable Air Volume System. The furnace is widely used in larger buildings and is suitable for mixed occupancies. Supply and return ductwork make their way vertically and horizontally throughout the building. The supply duct supplies fresh air to each room and the return duct exhausts the stale air. The boiler moves heated water to the fan room and exhausts through the chimney. The chilled water plant moves cold water to the fan room for air supply ducts. The plant exhausts out the cooling tower. Mini-split systems are used in each hotel unit for individual thermal comfort. Mini-splits in hotel units provide heating and cooling for individual thermal comfort. The south side of the building has extended eaves allowing for more solar shading than the north side. Passive Heating: Solar rays cast sun onto the south side of the building and allows warmth in through the large windows. The sun also reduces building heat load through solar panel technology. Passive Cooling: Large operable windows allow for breeze to enter rooms and refresh air naturally. Active Ventilation: The Variable Air Volume System provides ductwork to supply fresh air and collect stale air from each room. Passive Ventilation: Natural ventilation takes place through the large operable windows.

Energy and Atmosphere Renewable Energy Production 3 Points South facing solar energy panels on the building's roof are used to offset the building's energy demand.
Indoor Environmental Quality Low-Emitting Materials 3 Points Materials are chosen to reduce concentrations of chemical contaminants that can damage air quality, human health, productivity, and the environment.
