the masters of crystal We are the masters of crystal and our

mission is to manufacture lighting objects... In the beginning was our love of glass and a strong desire to create beautiful things. It was mainly these deep emotions that formed our mastery of working glass. For us, glass is not just cold, inanimate matter; on the contrary, born in fire, glass can take on an endless variety of forms in the deft hands of our glassmakers: mouth - blown, drawn, cut and polished, glass changes before our very eyes into dazzling crystal miracles. Our forte is light confined in glass, whether it be chandeliers, lighting sculptures, or decorative objects. As your partners, we always stand by you, hanging on your every word, ready to fulfill even your most secret wishes.

Thanks to our mastery, we produce top-quality crystal chandelier trimmings to decorate our lighting fixtures

Would you believe it? However unbelievable it may seem, the demand for some of the chandeliers made 300 years ago hasn’t slowed down even today. Bohemian glassmaking art traditions... As early as 500 years ago, skillful glassmakers in the Czech Kingdom began discovering methods of melting glass of unrivaled quality, renowned for its high brilliance and optical purity. In 1724, the first chandelier workshop was established in the village of Prácheň, not far from Kamenický Šenov, where Preciosa - Lustry has its present headquarters. Glass from Kamenický Šenov and its environs soon won worldwide renown, primarily for the elegance of form and purity of mouth-blown or hand-cut crystal. It was considered good form among the upper classes to own chandeliers from Kamenický Šenov. Even today, you can admire centuries - old chandeliers embellishing interiors of many manors.

New Production Processes & New Elements in Lighting Systems Laser – computer-controlled laser techniques enable precise cutting of metal as well as plastics, namely cutting both contours of individual shapes and a variety of decorative patterns. slumping – fused glass sheets follow the mold of a specified shape. fusing – heated to a specified temperature, various glass pieces are fused together to form a single layer glass. Decorating with frit – glass panels are decorated with

patterns created from crushed glass called the „frit”. Nanotechnology – the glass object is covered with a nanotechnology-based lacquer that creates a hydrophobic surface protecting the glass from moisture: water doesn’t stick to the glass surface, but freely flows down. This creates a self-cleaning property – as the water flows down, it carries away all surface soil particles. programmable LED - these enable preset lighting cycles of various lengths, thus creating an interplay of spectral colors.

Optical Fibers – the optical fiber’s core conducts light along its length to shine at its end, or, when the fiber is intentionally broken in several places, light is emitted from each of the “fractures”. Using optical fibers is economical, as just one light source is sufficient for a bundle of fibers, which also facilitates the fixture’s maintenance. The fibers’ light sources are programmable, enabling preset lighting cycles in a variety of lengths and colors.

generations with modern technologies... We continue to develop our glassmaking traditions by inventing new specialized production techniques and technologies to enable us to maintain our leadership position in both working glass and designing final products, such as chandeliers, glass lighting sculptures and decorative objects. It is these techniques and technologies, carefully guarded, that make us a world-renowned manufacturer widely popular among all those who look for real masterpieces. Our unique chandeliers, illuminating a variety of interiors ranging from royal palaces to luxury flats, are the best promotion.

From Inspiration towards Realization The International Commerce Centre: Glass Water Lilies

Inspired by Monet’s famous painting “Water Lilies”, its glass counterpart was finished using the modern technique of nanotechnology that faithfully imitates natural processes that exist on real plants’ leaves. Thus, our glass water lilies are not only protected from adverse environmental influences,

Modern computer-aided visualizations enable us to represent the final product when still in its design phase on the screen, long before it is produced. Thus, we are able to show you the almost exact appearance of the future object, and what’s more – we can show it incorporated into its future environment. However, the crucial factor influencing the result remains – the designer’s original ideas and creativity. We draw inspiration from the infinite number of forms the world offers – nature’s myriad faces, water as the element, whether in the form of rivers or oceans, the submarine world and, last but not least, the course of human life, myths, legends and works of art… the list is endless.

The Buddha Bar Hotel Prague  Czech Republic  |  2008

Emitting a soft, subdued light, PRECIOSA decorative lighting fixtures create an emotional atmosphere in the interiors. A provocative combination of distinctively decorative elements and extreme colors in tones of gold, black, red and aquamarine are typical features of the fixtures, distinguishing them from others.

28

These cast chandeliers are richly decorated with large colored chandelier trimmings, filigree fashion jewelry pieces, textile tassels, drops and plain beads, with a coat of special satin material, called a black leather, that puts the finishing touches to the surface of the fixtures. About the hotel – After its success in the world’s capital cities such as Paris, New York, Dubai, Cairo, London, Sao Paolo and others, the unique concept of the Buddha Bar restaurant chain has found its place in Prague as well.

Villa Richter – a National Cultural Monument Prague  Czech Republic  |  2008

PRECIOSA chandeliers adorn the interiors of Prague Castle, including the classicist pavilion Villa Richter, the world-famous Czech national cultural monument listed by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.

36

Together with other period decorative elements, the stylish Maria Theresa line of chandeliers creates the Piano Nobile restaurant’s atmosphere of bygone times. A modern lighting sculpture in the form of a stylized vine, climbing all over the ceiling of the glasshouse adjoining the restaurant, represents a distinctive opposite to classical lighting. About the locality – Villa Richter, a classicist pavilion, is located in the middle of St. Wenceslas’ vineyard, one of the oldest in Bohemia, dating from the 10th century. This national cultural monument belonging to the world-famous Prague Castle complex reopened its renovated interiors to the public in 2008.

The Bellevue Restaurant Prague  Czech Republic  |  2006

For the restaurant, PRECIOSA has designed and manufactured, in cooperation with Rony Plesl, a “family” of stylish lighting fixtures, using the unusual green-yellow uranium glass. The collection is called “The Edge” and PRECIOSA presented the fixtures at the Euroluce 2007 Fair in Milan.

44

About the locality – The restaurant’s name itself – “Bellevue”, freely translated as “a splendid view” – suggests much about its unique situation: located on Smetana’s bank of the Vltava river, it affords a wonderful view of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, the latter being just a few minutes’ walk from here. Even a short visit to this unforgettable restaurant will forever remain an exhilarating experience.

The Regency Casino Mont Parnes Athens  Greece  |  2006

A modern cableway transports visitors to the casino situated on Mt. Parnitha’s peak. A gigantic lighting fixture by PRECIOSA dominates the cableway’s departure hall. Its hand-bent glass beams in carmine, light amber and dark amber are set in a metal frame. Inside each beam is an optical fiber with programmed color effects.

48

Within the fixture are 16 synchronically interconnected light sources, each connected to proportional parts of all the optical fibers. The longest beams measure 80 cm. All the fixtures in the building are connected to the GMX system. On the ground floor is the main console that controls them including this gigantic chandelier. The fixture can either use one constant color of light, or smoothly change into various colors (white, green, blue, yellow and red). About the locality – Mt. Parnitha National Park spreads out on the Attica peninsula, the most lucrative area of Greece, no more than 32 km from Athens, the country’s capital city. It’s here where the Mt. The Czaricyno Palace Moscow  Russia  |  2007

PRECIOSA entered into the restoration project in cooperation with the Mosproject 2 Studio in August 2006. Our task was to design and manufacture period chandeliers.

68

About the palace – Large-scale restoration work on this famous Russian czars’ residence began in 2005 after the Russian government decided in favor of extensive renovations to the buildings. The original palace complex was built at the instigation of Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia from 1776 – 1785. Built in Classicism and Gothic styles, the palace, surrounded by an ample park and a number of adjoining buildings, was to become a real architectural gem of Czarist Russia.

PRECIOSA equipped the renovated interiors with 27 chandeliers and 56 wall brackets. To meet two particular requirements, two different approaches to both interior design and lighting systems came inevitably together here - classic and contemporary style.

72

About the theater – Influenced by the current requirements of modern architecture, the renovation of these historical interiors involved, to some extent, finding an acceptable compromise between preserving the interiors’ classical character, while simultaneously following contemporary design trends.

The configurations of loosely suspended elements, distinctly illuminated by smart light sources, currently represent the dominant architectural trend. The desired effect is achieved by creating simple-in-shape configurations of glass elements loosely suspended to form large, impressive compositions and patterns as dominant interior lighting decorations. To enhance their overall visual effect, the individual elements are illuminated by pulsating, color-changing light sources. Such lighting configurations are used primarily as conceptual constituents visually interconnecting the interiors’ individual segments. About the hotel – The Address Downtown Dubai, the flagship property of Emaar Hospitality Group's five-star hotel brand, is located in Downtown Dubai. The hotel, with its 63 floors, boasts a central tower that soars 306 meters high. The tower, completed in 2008, is the 6th tallest building in Dubai.

The Yas Hotel Yas Island – Abu Dhabi  UAE  |  2009

Lighting fixtures by PRECIOSA illuminate the presidential lobby, vice-presidential suite and the interiors of all the hotel restaurants designed in various architectural styles.

118

The design project is based on three basic levels: the first level features lighting sculptures created from chandelier trimmings and glass rods with inserted optical fibers serving as modern light sources. The second level is characterized by both glass and metal components of simple shapes loosely suspended to form imaginative configurations. And finally, the third group of lighting elements follows the prevailing architectural trend towards using intersecting geometric shapes such as crystal blocks or objects with round lines as can be seen, for instance, in hanging lanterns. About the hotel – This futuristic hotel complex, built on the man-made Yas Island, towers right above the Formula 1 racetrack – the Yas Marina Circuit. The hotel’s characteristic feature is its peripheral cladding formed from LED panels that enable the building’s attractive colorful illumination.
