Hi, I'm Elise! I’m nearing the end of my Masters of Architecture (Professional) at Victoria University of Wellington. I’ve collected a short display of some of my favourite illustraction projects, over my five years at architecture school. Thanks for taking the time to look at what I’ve been up to in the last few years!

1 a frolick in the forest: master of architecture thesis 2017/18 a series of tourist-poster-style illustrations to demonstrate the function of an architecture thesis a mix of analogue watercolour illustration and digital illustration, using adobe suite

> the project was designed entirely through analogue methods of watercolour and drawing, and then demonstrated through a set of large (A1) posters. the project aimed to combine techniques of art and architecture, and used illustration to explain the complexities of the thesis as a short narrative in prose.

then chances are you have a tooth that is badly broken down or unsightly to look at. A crown is essentlially a cap that goes over the prepared stump of a tooth, thereby restoring its shape, appearance, and usefulness.

î ˘e remaining tooth tissue is shaped so there is room for the crown material, a mould (impression) is taken and a crown constructed by a dental technician. When it has been made, it is tried on and cemented in place.

Crowns are either made from metal such as gold, porcelain or a combination of both.

24 HOUR DESIGN COMPETITION AUCKLAND’S PRETTY SCREWED. The year is 2032. The Auckland Unitary plan has been exhausted and has breached capacity. The responses to a rapid need for high density housing, commercial, and educational building stock have led to poor living and working environments, Auckland is now the world’s most dense, un-liveable city. Suburbia has relentlessly persisted, sprawling out of control, making the daily commute unrealistic for suburbanites to sustain the work/life balance. All transport systems and infrastructure have failed to meet modern capacities. This is the situation.

There is immense pressure on Auckland City Council, they are desperate for a solution. Hoculus Sift, a Virtual Technology company, backs themselves and have a potential answer to the the city’s crisis. Their proposition is a radical way of living where users can work and socialise remotely using oculus rift headsets significantly reducing their commute. Hoculus Sift require architects to brainstorm and present creative solutions embracing this technology. The challenge is designing the physical space where people will use the oculus rift. The potential success relies on the mass adoption of the virtual headset as a gateway for human-human interactions. It will open doors for new ways of meeting, working and community engagement.

!!

YOUR TASK Engage with a suburban environment in Auckland, in critical need of a new way of living. You need to design but are not limited to the following criteria: 1. 2. 3.

A hub in your suburb which allows remote working/socialising. An urban scheme for connecting the suburb to the hub, including transport etc. An inspiring advertisement encouraging residents to adopt the new technology and new way of living. THIS IS THE ANSWER

(IF YOU WISH)

By engaging with this technology and providing a framework that engages with the physical infrastructure of the city, you will resolve the current situation. Consider the architectural implications and think how it could improve rather than hinder, the social well being for the people of Auckland.

YOU HAVE UNTIL 4PM SATURDAY. SHOW US WHAT YOU’VE GOT!
