What goes around, comes around
The World Energy Council points out the primary issues that need to be considered by every company: energy prices, future of C02 prices and climate change, access to capital for energy infrastructure, carbon capture, utilization and storage and energy efficiency. One can well conclude that a decrease in power energy consumption is already gaining stream. Statistics show that The U.S. energy-related carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) have declined in five of the past eight years. Lower electricity-related CO2 emissions reflect lower carbon intensity and electricity use. In 2013, the emissions from the electrical power sector reached 2,053 million metric tons (MMmt), about 15% below their 2005 level. It can be considered a start, but there are many things to be done until the world reaches a decent limit of power energy consumption.
Energy Conservation
Individual and companies are not totally aware of the meaning of energy conservation. The energy consumption reaches alarming levels in some states, and billions of devices sitting idle in “standby mode waste vast amounts of energy. Measures need to be made around the world to reduce this unnecessary power consumption, and unplugging these devices can be a start. But a more efficient method for reducing power consumption is installing software programs to monitor and totally control the energy use.
What goes around, comes around
Companies need to get a clear idea of the overall impact otherwise the cost for the planet will remain forever obscured. Electricity itself is harmless to the environment; the problem is how it is produced. All forms of electricity generation have some level of environmental impact. The most damaging effect of electricity produced by coal combustion is related to the emissions of greenhouse gases. Any additional increase of greenhouse gases will exacerbate global warming. The effects can already be seen around us, without us mentioning how this can lead to rapid changes in local weather conditions and have profound influences on biodiversity. Also, keep in mind that the main
public health risk associated with electricity generation comes from air or water pollution due to power plant operations.
Social Responsibility
Finally, what we have to keep in mind is that companies are directly responsible for the environment no matter the sector or the market they operate. Their role is to improve the process of monitoring and conservation the energy day by day, using efficient means. IT GreenLight supports the fight against energy waste and provides proper solutions for this. If you would like to find out more about it, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
