POSITIONING WEST MAIN STREET

~ Jack/ies be nimble ~ Jack/ies be nimble Don’t be too quick The pavements are whispering Let's use all our wits Glass ceilings can shatter, When young bulls sharpen up pace Pick up your pales and please join the race Let’s follow the cues And soon we’ll be soaring Put on your hard hats And let’s stay up ‘til it’s morning

introduction This project proposal is anchored on the notion of spotlighting the city of Peoria's unique architectural dialogue of both juxtaposing and complimentary urban Architectural moments that have been established in the city's urban fabric. by framing how Peoria's quiet embrace of tension within its urban landscape can begin to open up the forum for a well-informed, responsive and proud American civic engagement effort grounded on listening and responding to all sides of the community's needs. The end goal is to bring about fruitful and everlasting civic improvements on the city of Peoria's West Main Street corridor and understanding the stimuli of the Peoria's built environment, the histories that enframed it and the ones it reciprocally helped frame. It's by following this omni-lateral introspective process of relating present conditions with conditions of the past that we may find that we both partially uncovered, and partially created, the zeitgeist of West Main Street this spring of 2018. By helping absolve Peoria's past architectural, socio-economic, political and renegade histories along this corridor, we may find that we set the rumble in motion for continuous trade winds of positive urban change. Truly, at the end of the day what we can hope may have been established through this exciting experimental process is a collective of people with an aim for nothing less than a holistic understanding for solutions that benefits all players involved in this multi-layered urban project. Whatever happens, the people of Peoria can always go forward from there.
