Care and Maintenance To maintain the good looks of your joinery, all windows and doors will need regular washing all over – not just the parts that are sheltered from the rain. Looking after your windows is like looking after your car – a regular wash keeps your investment in a smart condition. Unless you are close to the seaside or in a similar harsh environment, such as near an industrial area, washing down your windows every three months should be sufficient. Use a good quality, soft bristled, window washing brush and a dilute solution of mild liquid detergent. Be sure to rinse off the window with a gentle

Design and Testing Standards The windows and doors are tested in an international accredited laboratory, using an approved testing engineer and complies with international accreditation NZS/ISO/IEC 17025:1999.
Performance The aluminium joinery is designed, tested and built in accordance with New Zealand and Australian industry standards.
NZ Guarantee For further peace of mind, the aluminium joinery is supported by a two-year workmanship warranty. A five-year guarantee is available upon application.
Powdercoat and Eurocote Warranty There is a D1010 warranty for the 40 standard powdercoat colours and for Eurocote. This provides a 10-year warranty on colour integrity and film integrity marine environments.

the desire to find new solutions in energy saving have contributed to the design and development of Aluminium Systems’ new thermally broken aluminium window and door suite ThermAcolour from the Designer Series.
What is a Thermal Break system? By separating the window or door frame into exterior and interior components and inserting a less conductive reinforced black polyamide (PA66) insulating strip (made from glass reinforced nylon) in the centre of the profile

(shown in black on the illustration below) provides an effective thermal insulation break. Utilising rolled thermal break technology, this break stops both the cold in winter and the heat in summer transferring through the window frame and, combined with double glazing, provides a far more energy-efficient, moisture-free, comfortable internal environment while maintaining a strong aluminium structure.
Dual Colour The beauty of separating the window or door frame into exterior and interior components is that it provides an opportunity to colour mix and match the aluminium profiles. ThermAcolour is therefore available in a wide range of colours and hard-wearing finishes designed to withstand New Zealand’s harsh climate.

Replacement Windows and Doors
Throughout the building industry, architects and builders have long appreciated aluminium joinery for its overall strength, lasting value and ability to configure into some unique designs. As a homeowner, are you sick of old paint peeling from your windows? Do your windows let winter warmth disappear from your living spaces? If so, replacement windows are one of the best investments you can make. Apart from low maintenance, new aluminium joinery will also give a greatly improved street appeal. Windows and doors have an effect on how much energy a building uses, how warm or cold they are and how comfortable they are for the occupants. By using double glazing when replacing your joinery you can improve on heating and cooling costs and make yourself snug all year round. Our friendly and knowledgeable salespeople will help you select the aluminium windows and doors you need for your lifestyle and budget.

Awning and Casement Windows add a traditional look to all homes. Both these window styles are perennial favourites, for their practicality and performance. Awning Windows are hinged from the top and Casement Windows from a vertical edge. These windows provide good ventilation, which makes them a popular option. During rainy weather awning windows can be left partly open which minimises rain getting inside. Because both Awning and Casement Windows open outwards careful design is needed if they are to be used close to pedestrian pathways or decks.

Sliding Windows
Sliding Windows create the feeling of space and bring light and air into your room with their design being either vertical (double hung) or horizontal. They are perfect for restricted spaces, like above kitchen benches, or where protrusion beyond the building is not an option. The double hung window features tilt action, which is an ideal easy cleaning solution for multi-storey homes. Both window styles provide ventilation advantages over conventional windows due to the provision of more generous air spaces.

Bifold Windows provide the ultimate in indoor-outdoor living as one area merges into another. The windows open in a generous and unobstructed way – giving the impression that there are no windows at all. The wide opening to maximise views and airflow that Bifold Windows create can also have the effect of creating a cafÊ-like feel in your living areas. The double sealed hinges of these doors are full length, providing excellent weather proofing and they are colour-matched to the joinery.

Sliding and Stacking Doors
For practical access to decks and patios both Sliding and Stacking Doors are the doors of choice. Sliding and Stacking Doors are excellent for large openings where you want to take advantage of the view or let the outside in. The standard slider has two panels, one of which slides behind a fixed panel. Stacking Doors have two or more panels opening and stacking behind a fixed panel. These doors provide smooth ease of operation and have a tidy finish with concealed rollers. There is no clearance to take into consideration as all door movements are fitted inside the frame.

Bifold Doors provide great openings for indoor/outdoor living and can open both inwards and outwards. Certainly the ability to open the entire space allows you excellent

entertaining options and superb air-flow. Selecting certain Bifold configurations can also provide you with French Doors. Having French Doors within your Bifold Door configuration gives you the freedom to open more than just a single door, but not the entire door. The Bifolds are bottom rolling, taking the weight off the doors on the floor area rather than on the lintels where house movement is more likely. Ultimately this means less long term maintenance with doors that continue to slide smoothly and last longer. The Free-fold Bifold panels will fold around most building jambs to maximise the opening space, and these panels can be comfortably positioned out of the way. The key to the Free-fold Bifold is the hinging system. This is a simple system of sequencing and bridging hinges to produce the free-fold capacity, with the sequencing hinge using a spring to return the panel to its original position

when closing the door.

It’s easy to overlook the importance of selecting the right glass for a new home or addition.
Secondary seal Molecular sieve dessicant
Double Glazing Double Glazing offers some sound-dampening qualities but the performance is critically dependant on the width of the airspace. Most important are its thermal advantages. In the summer Double Glazing reduces heat and UV entry, whilst in winter it provides good light levels and reduces outward heat loss. Another benefit is the improved security that comes with two sheets of glass.

Safety Glass The law demands minimum standards in locations prone to human impact. Some safety glazing is mandatory. Our manufacturers can advise you about this important matter to ensure your safety and compliance with applicable building codes. Toughened and laminated glass falls into the safety glass category offering high levels of protection against injury.
Fading and Privacy Glass Tinted and reflective glass reduces glare and ultraviolet light. There are tones of green, blue, grey and bronze to choose from and the colour assists with increasing internal privacy. The glass reduces the ultraviolet rays, saving soft furnishings from prematurely fading.
Security Glass You can make your home more secure without detracting from its appearance. Laminated glass consists of two or more sheets glued together with a flexible interlayer. If laminated glass is broken, the fragments remain adhered to the interlayer. This
www.elitewindows.co.nz
characteristic also makes it a Grade A safety glass.

Colour Options
Colour is a great way to achieve the look and feel you are after. With our huge range of 40 powdercoated, anodised and Eurocote colours, choice is at a maximum. Before you choose there are a few points to consider:
1 2 3
The most common way of choosing the colour of your windows and doors is through contrasting or complementing the house cladding or roofing. House cladding may eventually need painting. The joinery colours will remain the same, so take care in choosing joinery colours to lessen the risk of an unexpected contrast.
Joinery colours chosen for outside colours might be jarring when seen from the inside, dramatically affecting a home’s interior.
Resene Ezy Paint With Resene Ezy Paint, virtually painting your own project or home is easy. Using this feature you can electronically paint anything from houses, plans and drawings to furniture, people and cars. Resene Ezy Paint allows you to see the finish before you even start redecorating. No more worrying whether any two colours go together – you can now try them out for yourself. If they don’t look right together, just keep trying other combinations until you create a scheme that is right for you. www.resene.co.nz/ezypaint
Powdercoat Our joinery is powdercoated in our facilities which are accredited to WANZ Enduro Colour Powder Coating Quality Standard to ensure maximum quality control. To help you with your colour decision, ask your local window manufacturer for our colour chart booklets.
Anodising Anodised aluminium joinery is not only attractive, but also offers a durable and tough wearing finish. The colours offered by anodising are the result of anodic oxide coating, bringing out colours within the metal. The final finish is quite metallic in appearance.
Eurocote Eurocote is a heat-bonded wood grain that not only looks and feels like the real thing but is durable and low in maintenance. Eurocote provides a wide range of colour choice opportunities. You may choose to have anodised aluminium on the exterior of the joinery and wood grain Eurocote on the inside.
Dual Colour The beauty of separating the window or door frame into exterior and interior components is that it provides an opportunity to colour mix and match the aluminium profiles. ThermAcolourTM is therefore available in a wide range of colours and hard-wearing finishes designed to withstand New Zealand’s harsh climate. 30
