Let Your Faith Equal Your Works James 2:14-26
C
an you think back to the moment in your life when “I Tried” became the acceptable standard for the failed attempts for goals set in your life? After you try and fail once or twice to obtain achievement you quit and declare that “I am waiting on God!” You stand erect on your soap box and tell anyone that will listen that you are waiting on your season and while you wait you have faith that God will move.
In your waiting, make sure God is not waiting on you! Your faith may be strong but are your works equal to your faith? The second chapter of James proposes a very important question; what does it profit to have faith but no works? Great examples are detailed within this passage on how faith combined with works produced miracles. A more practical approach to faith being equal with works would be to sit at your place of employment and state that by faith your job will get done; however, you never turn on your computer, respond to an email or service a customer. Your faith may be strong but your job is now in jeopardy because you never performed the work.
As Christians, we must be careful not to allow a half motivated attempts cause us to forfeit the great miracle that God wants to perform in our lives. Having faith is not enough. There must be some work done. Even before the mountain can move we are instructed to speak to it. Do not allow your life to be an example of James 2:26; For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Teesha Walker, Editor-in-Chief

Dealing with Depression
Q & A Discussion with Author, Chamarian Eaglin by Teesha Walker, Editor-in-Chief & Writer Depression is never an easy illness to cope with. People may never understand how a simple song or gesture can trigger a memory of the most traumatic event in your life. It is also known that the holiday season also affect a person’s mood or disposition. We have taken time to discuss this sensitive matter with author and motivational speaker, Chamarian Eaglin. Chamarian is a Certified Christian Counselor and a Motivational Speaker that has had her own battle with depression which inspired her to write “FROM BREAKDOWN TO BREAKTHROUGH: “Overcoming Depression One Day at a Time”. MBM: Did your depression developed from every day challenges or because of a singular tragic event? CE: Every day challenges. It was developed as a result of finding it difficult to adjust to a combination of very stressful events that were occurring in my life simultaneously. MBM: How did you first recognize that you were suffering from depression? CE: I first recognized that something was seriously wrong when I started having consistent downward mood swings that would last weeks at a time; which was unusual for me. MBM: As a Christian, was there any internal conflict between your beliefs/faith and your depression? CE: Yes. One of the internal conflicts that I struggled with was whether or not to comply with the doctors instructions to take the medication prescribed for me for treatment of the symptoms associated with depression and anxiety that I was experiencing. As a person of faith and a strong believer of the power of prayer, I had never been in a predicament where I was asked to consider taking medication as an aid for my mental/emotional betterment. However, after getting a 2nd opinion and consulting with God about it, I finally found peace about going through with the process. MBM: Have you experienced any further healing from writing your book? CE: Actually, when I first started writing the book I was still going through the depression, when I completed the book in December I was coming out of depression, and now here I am today by the grace of God I am walking in my breakthrough and free
from depression! To God be the glory, I have reached my point of breakthrough! MBM: What is your ultimate goal for the reader of your book? CE: My ultimate goal and prayer for the book is that it will be used as a tool to provide help and hope for someone else that may be going through depression or just a rough season of their life. What I would like for each reader to know is that depression is not the end of the rope, but it is simply a knot in the rope of a life that God holds in His hands. There is sunshine after the storm, so be encouraged by knowing that sadness and despondency does not have to be your final destination. "FROM BREAKDOWN TO BREAKTHROUGH: Overcoming Depression One Day at a Time" was a written testimony to empower, inspire, and to encourage people that overcoming the hurdles of life such as depression, it is possible. Once you reach your point of breakthrough, you will never bow to depression again. The price of the book is $15.50 and it is currently available for purchase through the website at www. chamarianeaglin.com. The book is also available for purchase for paperback as well as the Kindle version at Amazon.com. Note from Editor: I implore anyone who may think that they are battling depression to consult a trained professional. Never take for granted the change in your demeanor. Seeking professional help will only advance the healing process and also assist in restructuring and prioritizing your life.

Insprirational word from The Publisher: Elizabeth Jackson M’Bracing Beauty Christian Magazine
How can I
O
become a more obedient Christian?
bedience is the bottom line in the Christian life. This means compliance to God’s plan and pattern, observance of His commands, adherence to His standard, and submission to His will. If we want to obey the Lord, we need to know what action God wants us to take, what attitude would most please Him, and what He requires of us. So how do we get ourselves to that point of obedience? First, we have to know what God’s commands are. We cannot obey what we do not know or understand— and we begin to understand God’s perspective by becoming familiar with His Word.
“Obedience always brings blessing.”
“However, simply knowing God’s Word isn’t enough. We must also tap into His power by submitting to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, who helps us relate His commands to our own situation and who assists us in determining the wisest course of action. Once we decide to obey, we can expect a challenge to compromise. Since Satan doesn’t want us to follow God, he will
offer temptation after temptation to divert us or to weaken our devotion to the Lord through small steps of disobedience. Yet remember, partial obedience is disobedience. It takes commitment and courage to obey God in the face of these challenges: courage to give up what we like in order to do what He asks; courage to do things that may bring unwelcome results; courage to rearrange our schedule to match His plan; courage to love the unlovely, to forgive the seemingly unforgivable, and to give when we want to keep. How can we counter his challenge to compromise? By renewing our resolve to obey.” 1

What The Bible Says About Knowing All of God Hos. 2: 19, 20
In order to know someone intimately, you can’t just know what they do— you must know their character and heart. You have to know what motivates them. The same is true for God. In Hosea 2: 19, 20, He says, “I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, in lovingkindness and in compassion, and I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness. Then you will know the Lord.” He has “betrothed” (or engaged) His people to Himself for one reason: to let Himself be known.
U
5. We should know the ways of God because they are the best way. No matter what situation we must endure or how difficult a choice we have to make, we can be certain that God’s way is the best way to face it. He will guide us and give us the strength and wisdom to handle our circumstances in a godly manner (Jer. 29: 11).
1. We should know the ways of God because they are essential in knowing Him. By learning the ways God works, we become acquainted with His heart— and life’s greatest joy is knowing Him personally and intimately (Ps. 25: 4, 5).
6. We should know the ways of God because they are the pathway to success. Although the world’s definition of achievement involves wealth and power, to the Lord true success lies in obedience to His will (1 John 2: 17). Ultimately, no one can thwart the plans of God— He will succeed and achieve the victory (Job 42: 2). And when we submit to Him, we share in His triumph.
nfortunately, sometimes we know about God, but we really don’t know Him. Yet God wants us to love Him in a deep, intimate relationship. Here are six reasons we should know God’s ways.
2. We should know the ways of God because He requires that we know them. The Lord desires for us to go beyond a surface relationship with Him, so He has given us commands to follow to facilitate it. We learn not merely to see Him as our Master, but as our Beloved (Deut. 10: 12). 3. We should know the ways of God because it is the yearning of His heart for us to do so. The Lord desires our fellowship— for us to seek and worship Him wholeheartedly (Jer. 33: 3). This fact alone should motivate us to pursue a deep, meaningful relationship with Him. 4. We should know the ways of God because He loves us. Our heavenly Father desires the very best for us, and He wants each of us to realize that His plans for us will always be above and beyond all we could ask or imagine (Jer. 31: 3; 1 Cor. 2: 9; Eph. 3: 20).
Therefore, set your heart to know all of God— His works, His ways, and His will for your life. Because He promises, “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jer. 29: 13). See the Life Principles Index for further study: 1. Our intimacy with God— His highest priority for our lives— determines the impact of our lives. Stanley, Charles F. (2009-03-17). The Charles F. Stanley Life Principles Bible, NASB (Kindle Locations 63410-63418). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.
Life Lessons 2: 20 — “I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness. Then you will know the LORD.” God extends His lovingkindness to us, even when we stray from Him. Our highest and most fulfilling purpose is an intimate relationship with the Lord God. Certainly, when we seek Him, we will find Him (Jer. 29: 11– 13; Matt. 7: 7, 8; Luke 11: 9, 10).

\\ PRAYER OF SALVATION// A SINNER’S PRAYER Romans 10: 9,10
You Can Receive Jesus Christ Right Now by Faith - Through Prayer:
Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Thank you Jesus, for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus, transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself. Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life! Amen. Can you think of anything more wonderful that could happen to you than receiving Christ? “As soon as you can find a Bible believing and Bible teaching Church so that you can begin to hear and study the Word of God. Remember, Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.” Paul D. Landrew Put Your Trust In God... Not Man!

What The Bible Says About Our Greatest Salvation “Christ took our punishment and died in our place. Since our attempts at righteousness will not satisfy God, Christ clothed us in His righteousness in such away that when God, the Father, looks upon us, He does not see our sin; He sees only the righteousness of His Son, Jesus Christ.” L. Moyer Hebrews 2:1-4 -What has been the greatest moment of your life? For some people, the answer might be their wedding day, the birth of a child, or an important promotion. But for believers, the best experience is salvation, when their eternal destiny was changed. New Christians often have a fervor to share their faith. In time, however, many find their hearts cooling as they focus less on their relationship with Jesus Christ. Hebrews 2:1 instructs, Therefore we must give the most earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. “Salvation is God’s amazing solution to man’s sinful condition: it is His gift of rescue - through the death of Jesus- from the penalty of our transgressions.” Charles Stanley

The Cracks in Your Life Allows The Light of Love In. I Love Myself…Those are words that were taboo not so long ago. It was a daring sentence for most and if you were among the few who were brave enough to proclaim this love, it is quite possible that you did not escape condemnation and the hot judgement of being branded as conceited. But why is it so difficult to admit self-love? I found my peace with affirming love for myself by looking into God’s word. Matthew 22:39 gives a clear picture of what God expects from us by letting us know His second greatest expectation of us; “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The very simple explanation of this scripture makes it impossible to practice loving anyone without simultaneously loving yourself. Still, the question remains, why is it so important to love you? Let me start by telling you something you may already know; life is going to throw you some curve balls. You may miss a few but most of those nasty hooks will come around and connect in your life when you least expect it. You will not escape living without suffering. In fact, the Bible makes it clear in John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” If you are reading this message, there is no doubt in my mind that you have figured out the truth to this scripture. Still, when we are faced with unimaginable pain and suffering we often find ourselves struggling to make sense of the unexpected tragedies that leaves us with permanent cracks in our lives. If you have ever been abused as a child or even in your adult life you most certainly know the pain and shame that is associated with this wrongdoing. Feelings of abandonment and neglect will make you feel hopeless and more than often helpless. So how do you begin to love yourself after someone has abused you? How can you love yourself when you have heard all your life that you are a worthless, no good
10
thing that will never be anything more than a… (Fill in the blank with your version)? If you have been given this story, do not be afraid to unravel the lies that you have been fed; the truth is you are not alone, my story is much similar and I have exhibited the after effects in many ways throughout my life. You will find no judgement from my little corner of the world. By the age of seven, I had already experienced sexual, emotional, verbal, and physical abuse which left me confused about the God I heard so much about. Where was he when my neighbor destroyed my innocence, where was this good God when I was being beaten mercilessly by my angry uncle? I could go on but the message is clear; when you are suffering, especially from a place of not being good enough, and worthlessness, it leaves a crack in your soul that leads to self-blame, shame, guilt, anger, mistrust, self-hatred, and the inability to truly connect with others. No one deserves to live like that. So how do you cope with all that suffering and trauma, and how do you heal the wounds that have been left behind? The answer lies within God and his grace; love
Judith A. Edwards
God first and then love yourself which ultimately leads to loving and forgiving others. Know that it is okay to respectfully question God but we must learn to trust his process. Every crack in my life and your life that has been caused by a wound, allows the light and love of God to shine through, and through those cracks, we are able to reciprocate that light into the life of another who suffers. However, before we reach this point, we must be willing to love ourselves through the pain. God majors in the business of using messed up people like us to make things right, through our suffering we earn the right of being trusted to connect with this hurting world by demonstrating that God is sufficient to meet every need we have. I have no idea what purpose God has for you; however, I do know that he has a plan that is only for you. In all of this, know that your circumstances do not have the last word on your life. God is good and he is worthy of our trust, know within your heart that he will always see you through whatever situations you may face. Remember that nothing can separate you from his love and in return, you must give yourself the gift of self-love.

Answers to Life’s Questions:
Does God Bring Us Adversity? Gen. 39: 20
T
he life story of Joseph clearly illustrates that God sometimes grants permission for adversity to enter our lives so that He might accomplish an ultimate good. Jacob didn’t try to hide his lopsided love for Joseph, his son by his favorite wife, Rachel. So when Joseph shared two dreams with his brothers— dreams in which Joseph took center stage and his brothers bowed low to serve him— they started looking for a way to destroy him. One day, Joseph’s brothers secretly sold him into slavery. Eventually, he became the slave of Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. Joseph quickly rose to prominence in his new position, but when Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him of rape, Joseph found himself being imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Even there, in total confinement, he rose to a position of leadership. When he correctly interpreted the dream of a royal servant, Joseph hoped that his fortunes were about to change. But the man promptly forgot him for two long years. Not until Pharaoh himself needed someone to interpret a troubling dream
“Sometimes Adversity is What You Need To Face in Order To Become Successful.”
did the man mention Joseph (Gen. 39– 40). At the right time, God reversed Joseph’s adversity. After he had correctly interpreted the dream, Pharaoh ordered him released and placed in charge of the Egypt’s granaries. Later, Joseph used his new authority as prime minister to help his family through a severe famine. After Jacob’s death, Joseph’s brothers feared that he might try to pay them back. “But Joseph said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive”’ (Gen. 50: 19, 20). In looking back over his life— even the dark and painful events— Joseph realized that God had been in charge the whole time. Nothing had happened to him apart from God’s will and divine plan. In the same way, when you belong to the Lord, any adversity you experience remains subject to the Lord’s power and grace. He never stops being in charge of your life. He never loses authority over you or over the circumstances that affect you. God is always in control. Therefore, you must realize that, on occasion, the Lord permits adversity to enter your life. But He always uses adversity to fulfill His purposes in your life. Stanley, Charles F.. The Charles F. Stanley Life Principles Bible, NASB (Kindle Locations 6038-6039). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

(Romans 12:4,5)
Although I was created to be the
strongest section of the unit, I have to share myself with others, which at times they find themselves fighting against one another. My body is designed to stand tall and keep things together in order that it might become strong as a whole to build a kingdom of great things, yet it is weakening daily. Why does my body become weak daily? Because those who I share my body with such as the legs, arms, feet, mouth, eyes, hands, fingers, and so forth are fighting with one another daily. It makes me feel sad. It hurts me dearly. Only if they understood that they are all equally important to me, they would not be fighting.
I sometimes find myself feeling sad and alone. So I often go to my Creator to find peace and pray for strength, in order that I might stay strong for the sake of those whom I share myself with. I’m even more sad because all that I am I am unable to keep the legs from hating on my feet. I’m unable to stop the eyes from rolling its components at my mouth and I’m
tired of my mouth gossiping about my hands. I just wish we all could get along.
Although those who I share my body with are different from one another they still play an important role to my body. Each of us has been design and created with an individual gift, which if was not available it would cause the body to somewhat be handicap. If my hand isn’t functioning in its creation it slows me down, when I need to feed my stomach by use of my mouth, and if I’m unable to use my mouth then it will affect my body and it would become weak. Dear Lord, I pray for love and unity amongst the members of my body. My body is weakening daily and I’m tired of the fighting, slandering, gossiping, backbiting, belittling, and the ‘don’t care attitudes,’ that’s in the atmosphere. Lord, send a Spirit of love and unity, so that we as the Body of Christ will get along and respect one another. The Body of Christ is suffering. It’s at war with and against itself. 17
