August 2011 Jr. High Parent Letter

Hey Parents, Wow, summer is nearly over…where did the time go? It seems like not too long ago I was writing you a letter saying how exciting it was that summer was approaching. But time rolls along I guess… and time is rolling right along into the fall. We have some incredible things for our Jr. High students this fall, some new, some returning, but all fun and beneficial. During the month of August we will be gearing up to kick off our fall programming! And just for you…here’s a sneak peek: August 28 – Fall Kickoff event: 5:00-7:00 – details coming soon September 4th-Fuse (the school year version) returns – Every Sunday at 9:30 in the student ministry area Fuse is returning this school year with some slight improvements. This year we are going to have a full breakfast for our Jr. High students…That’s right eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc…Michelle Prichard and Susan Schlegel have stepped up to lead our Jr. High food team that will provide breakfast for us, so come hungry!!!

Our worship team will be doing 3 songs each Sunday instead of 2!

Shoot The 3, games, and teaching time will all be back in the mix, with possibly some new teachers.

In the month of September we will also kick off our Jr. High mid week program. This will be a weekly program that happens for Jr. High students one evening each week. Students will have the opportunity to choose different options of classes and service opportunities during this time. More details coming!

Parents, just for you Carl and Babett Jackson have teamed up with us to lead our Parent Team. This team is designed with you in mind. Our goal is to help you navigate through the teenage years with your son or daughter and help you grow in a relationship with them and Christ in the process. We are planning at least one event per month starting in September just for you! Keep your eyes and ears open for more details.

Dates to put on your Calendar: August 28th – Fall Kickoff – 5:00-7:00 more details coming September 25th – Bowling – 5:00-7:00 more details coming October 7-9 – Jr. High Journey – look for sign ups mid August October 23rd – The games of fall – 5:00-7:00 at the fire pit November 20th – Movie Night – 5:00-7:00 in the fellowship hall December 18th – school’s out Christmas bash – 5:00-7:00 in the fellowship hall Shout out section: Special thanks to Marnie Glasscock, Sarah Bynum, and Tyler Cadwell who did an awesome job leading our Summer In The Son trip on July 10-15! They made the week a huge success for your sons and daughters. If you see them make sure to say thank you and give them a pat on the back, a high five, or maybe even go the extra mile and create a secret handshake with them just to say thanks.
