INTRODUCTION My name is Abigaél, my mom & dad consciously gave me my name which in Hebrew means “Fountain of Joy”. Finding out my life’s mission coincided with it. This is to bring knowledge & understanding in love and light and create leaders in the world. In my biography you will find a little bit of the broad experience and knowledge that I have gained through my years. Not only in Aruba but from all the places I have been to in the world. I have come to the point where I wanted to work for my community for so long, for what I have seen and with the experience and knowledge that I can bring forth for mainly our students that go to further study in The Netherlands, other destinations and in Aruba. I would like to be working with you on improving the level of our people. After many projects that I have done I feel that I am ready to be working with this Government on various areas that may produce successful stories in our Community. I have worked with foundations on a continuous basis that hired my services in their successful programs. I have been hired continuously by companies looking for motivational speakers, self-esteem and team building, customer service, personal grooming standards, recognition, appreciation and many other specially tailored programs. I have also been hired for personal coaching on anger management, loss & fear of failing, how to succeed in life, professional coaching, and spiritual coaching.
BIOGRAPHY Abigaél Arends was born in Aruba, she is the only child of Mrs. Lucy Arends, and the third daughter of dr Rory Arends. Her primary, secondary and intermediate educations were done in Aruba, after which she attended two years of International Business Studies in Arnhem, Netherlands. In 2005 she embarked in her formation with International Self Esteem Project (ISEP), which meant traveling abroad on several occasions, to become an ISEP Leader in Aruba in 2007. Since then she has attended several ISEP courses dealing with personal development and life coaching. In 2015 She attended the ELOS Institute in Brazil which she completed 4 weeks intensive of 320 hours in the Warior Without Weapons Project. Besides these Abigaél followed several additional courses in the areas of beauty, graphic design, administration, management and spirituality. As a very young girl she already showed a keen interest in office work and at times she helped her mother or father after school. At the early age of 13 she helped out at the Aruba Beach Club on Saturdays, assisting in various departments such as Front Office, Activities, Re-sales, and PBX operation. Before graduating at Colegio Arubano Evening School she worked at resort outlets at the Holiday Inn Aruba. While studying in Holland she also gained experience working in sales and office work for various companies. Back in Aruba she gained additional experience in sales, marketing, and administration with such companies as Yrausquin & Sons, De Palm Tours, Medstar Group, and Tiara Airlines. Besides her regular daily activities at the job, Abigaél was also involved in providing professional make-up classes in collaboration with Aruba Trading Co. and Revlon, and assisted Romar Trading in planning and executing a successful Bacardi Bartenders' Contest. Abigaél's last position before venturing out on her own was that of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events Manager at the world known hotel chain and resort chain RIU Palace Aruba. Here she successfully planned and executed hundreds of Wedding Events and Conferences for the resort's international guests. After two years with RIU Abigaél decided to start on her own and revived ELKA & Associates, a company established by her late mother, Lucy Arends, that was dormant for a number of years. ELKA is now an officially established and registered company with the Aruba Chamber of Commerce, with
"Self Esteem Project Aruba" as a subsidiary. As such Abigaél has been involved in many successful Self Esteem and Personal Development activities with various public and private sector organizations and companies, including participants of all ages, backgrounds and education. "A leader is not selfish but will teach more individuals to become a leader on their own. This project is for us to create more leaders around the world and to have a better knowledge of life. Consequently we may live without concerns and/or fears and with more confidence in the human being" – Bob Mandel
MY PROFESSIONAL CAREER
My mom Lucy in her life’s journey took me everywhere as a child and later as a teener and if stimulated me to follow her footsteps. Forever since I can remember she had this quote in her office “The best minute I spend, Is the one I invest in people”. I did not understand what exactly she was doing, until people starting telling me” Your mom is an amazing woman, thanks to her I am at my best, she helped me in ways no other person has helped me before”. And when that sentence was repeated to me in more ways than one by many other clients or persons she talked to…That was when I became interested and in 2005 started my path together with her in the International Self-Esteem Project by mr. Bob Mandel. It was then that she found the calling and understood with the first seminar how amazing this project was and why my mom had changed her life and dedicated it to changing others to live a positive, conscious, responsible and successful life. I integrated myself in 2005 with the foundations that my mom invested her time and love in, reaching the youth. I realized that when I was helping her, the children and youth at that time were listening to us both and we made a great team, and that they confided in us to help them and listen to them. This was the Let’s Talk Foundation 2005. It was then that I said to my mom “I am ready and going to be an International Self-Esteem Teacher just like you”. I followed the International Self-Esteem Leadership Certification Program and graduated in 2008 as an International Leader based in Aruba. The Project requires us to travel each year to keep developing ourselves and bring new developments to others. In May 2012, I participated in the “Great Life Changes Program”, a seminar of the International Self-Esteem Project, in Bogota, Colombia, which teaches us on changes in all areas of our lives, how to recognize and how to deal with it.
In May 2013 I participated in the Prosperity & Success Program, a seminar of the International Self-Esteem Project, in Caracas, Venezuela. I also took an apprentice, Ms. Marimar Boekhoudt to accompany me for the trip and seminar to further
help her with her personal, professional & spiritual development and understand more of the work we do in the international programs.

Father: Dr. Roderick G. “Rory” Arends
Born in Aruba as the younger of two brothers into the family of Dr. Coco Arends and Mrs. Sofia Arends, a piano teacher, Rory studied in Aruba for basic education. At the very young age of 14, he joined his only brother in Holland for higher level studies. Graduated from the Canisius College in Nijmegen, Rory returned to Aruba. From basic formation at the Salle School in Aruba, Rory studied in Nijmegen, Holland where he graduated HBSb in 1958. He followed studies for public servant, while he studied Tourism with an ILO Scholarship in Austria where he graduated with honors in 1972. In 1982 he was recognized “honoris causa” by the Faculty of Tourism Science of the University of Naples, Italy. He was also recognized by International Public Relations, Italy, and is the recipient of the International Golden Helm in tourism. Rory performed from 1965 to 1989 in government tourism management, at the then “Toeristen Bureau” as Tourism Official and Deputy Director. From 1986 to 1989 he was Director of the newly named Aruba Tourism Authority. Rory received many acclaims from local and international entities. On international and regional level, Rory was well known and was a brand name for Aruba. With numerous recognitions and acclaims to his name, a year after retiring from the public sector, he engaged professionally with the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association as Chief Executive Officer. Ironically to say that he was one of the founders of the Aruba Hotel Association, that later expanded its membership to other tourism partners as well. Rory was invited in numerous occasions as speaker to important events and as panel member in local and international discussions regarding tourism. Reaching the retiring age, he left AHATA in 2000. Rory retired from AHATA with the intention to move to Holland in July 2000. However circumstances grounded him to his native Aruba andwhile keeping a low profile, his advice, opinions and ideas are sought regularly by those interested. When it comes to Rory and his broad knowledge combined with his poise and charisma, the ink to write pages long of history and anecdotes would not be enough. Rory as some people in the business quote is “an icon, a legend, a synonym or a brand name” for Aruba. He was in the news practically daily and still after so many years, people talk about him, greet him and praise him for his past services in tourism. You can feel that people love him and that his legacy is finally anchored in his book “Ayera, Awe …y Mayan – Turismo y Aruba”, launched in November 2012. Rory Arends, his work, his knowledge and the love for his island hopefully will inspire young Arubans to engage in tourism. The book immortalizes the great good practices and stories of tourism in Aruba, certainly when in 2009, Aruba celebrated its first 50 years in tourism and Rory played an essential role in its golden years.

“Before I have met Abigaél, mi life was tormented; I could never stay in one place, or go anywhere alone. I was in fear and terrified of living. When finishing my work, I immediately went home immediately. At work I did not trust people I work with, and say them talking in a group, I thought that they were talking about me. Until the day that I met Abigaél, it all changed. Here my life changed within 2 weeks’ time of the personal coaching, I have found myself, and my life is now complete.
